As a recommendation from a colleague who said their cousin used them back in 2019. First I did my research checking online the reviews and everything went good until I read them here. Still questionable but I went ahead. First I have to say is that this company is a hard sell for Sandals Resorts. Really hard sell. When I said that wasn't in our plans they really cooled off returning our calls and emails. We wanted the DR but they kept with the other places. Finally after waiting several weeks for an answer back we gave up. We didn't want to change to a Sandals because of the reviews we got from friends. Some had great while others had questionable rooms with a hard sell to upgrade when there. One friend said they found out that the resort they stayed at in Negril was older and they hadn't got around to changing the lower price rooms. Again this is not what we wanted. Heck after the wedding the last thing I wanted. For us it was relaxing! So take this as another endorsement to do your research and not get swayed by the hype. When my husband and I were just deciding on a destination wedding over 10 years ago, I got a recommendation on The Knot forums to talk to Nancy Finn about where we should get married and have her help with the arrangements and travel for ourselves and our guests. We were not very happy with the service from Island Getaways. We booked a trip through them for my brother's wedding in Jamaica. About a month prior to the trip I called Nancy to let her know that this would also be my honeymoon. She informed me that a honeymoon has to be within thirty days of marriage (we were married in September and the trip was in May) but she would call the resort and try to set something up. I let her know that we would be willing to pay for any honeymoon services, I just wanted it to be special because we couldn't afford to take a honeymoon right after the wedding. She told me that she would make the call and to be sure to bring a copy of our marriage certificate to the resort as proof. Long story short, when we got to the resort no call had been made. They had no idea we were honeymooners and it was too late to book anything special so "last minute". We even got a horrible room with double beds when we had requested a room with one king sized bed. I wish I had used my regular travel agent but the rest of the wedding party and guests all used Island Getaways so I felt obligated. read more

My husband and I used Nancy and the team at My Island Getaways to book our group for our destination wedding in Playa del Carmen. If you are looking for a travel agent (wedding, honeymoon, anniversary or just a week away in paradise) who is a step above the rest, look no further. Nancy was the first and only travel agent I considered when I started my wedding planning journey. From my first conversation with her, I knew my entire wedding group was in good hands. She continued to blow me away throughout the year and a half we worked together. She was so patient with my entire group. Some had never traveled outside the US, so the concepts of international travel, hotel transfers and all-inclusive were new to them. She always took the time, even on off hours, to answer every question. She was so flexible and an incredible problem solver. She was always happy to accommodate any request I had.....and I had a lot. Because we had booked so early, we had a few room change requests. A few were unable to attend (due to pregnancy & Zika) and Nancy was able to book other people in their place so they got their money back. Our resort sold out months before our wedding and managed to secure more rooms for our guests who were slow to book. Planning a wedding via email has its challenges, but Nancy always had our back. The resort suspended one of the wedding promotions that we booked under and she ensured that the resort honored it. She was also able to book our onsite wedding coordinator meeting in advance, which rarely happens. Nancy's relationships with the resort and Lomas proved to be incredibly important. She surprised my husband and I with a limo upgrade hotel transportation and secured room upgrades for our ENTIRE group. The resort knows when an Island Getaway group is coming and you are treated like VIP. The service didn't stop after our trip was over. She called immediately after we returned and took a genuine interest in our experience. A piece of décor went missing and she contacted the resort on my behalf to locate it. Her passion is apparent in the work she does and she truly goes above and beyond to make sure her clients are happy. She values relationships over the sale - which is rare these days. We decided to book a trip to Negril on a last minute whim. I was referred to Nancy Finn through a friend. Nancy was out of town when I initially inquired via email, so I was shocked to get a response within the hour. I had multiple emails & phone calls with Nancy before, during & after booking our trip. We were not at all happy with Island Getaways. We came upon Nancy and Tom through a recommendation of a coworker. At first things were good. Communication was good until she got her money. Once our entire payment was made on our honeymoon, it was difficult to get a hold of her. She said multiple times during the process if we had any questions or problems that we should contact her even if we were on our honeymoon. I went in with a great feeling about everything. The resort was nothing like we imagined. The rooms were nice and the beach was beautiful but the rest of the experience was poor and I feel like we deserved some attention to our concerns. I sent Nancy a long email about all of the issues we were having in hopes that she would be able to give us a contact at the resort to dicuss our problems and heard nothing from her. I sent another email to follow up when we returned and still nothing. I would never EVER recommend Island Getaways to a friend. I cannot even begin to explain how thankful I am for Charmaine George of Island getaways. I went through 7 different travel agents from different companies to try to find someone like her. I have been planning my wedding for almost two years now and I was getting frustrated by many things including pricing, response time and overall just not getting what I really wanted. Then Char came into the picture and was literally the best thing that happened to myself and my now husband John. From the moment she sent that first email back, I knew I had found "the one". Charmaine was with me EVERY step of the way while planning my dream destination wedding. Service was great until they received our payment, and then it was lacking. At one point, it took over two weeks to get a response from Nancy regarding our honeymoon to Antigua. When you (as the consumer) have to do more leg-work than the travel agent, there is something clearly wrong. Would not book with Island Getaways again, nor would I recommend to any other couples. read more

Charmaine George was our travel agent for our honeymoon to St. Lucia and we are SO relieved and thankful we found her. She made the whole booking process easy and stress free with Sandals. She also booked our helicopter ride for us and then when our flight was delayed she contacted the helicopter company for us and rearranged our reservations last minute. She also contacted the resort for us instead of us having to worry about communicating with everyone among the stress of our delayed flight. We arrived to our honeymoon suite to find a thoughtful note from Charmaine too! Nancy and her team were absolutely amazing to work with!!! I have used them for the past 2 years for the beaches Turks and Caicos resort and each time was phenomenal! Nancy took care of every detail and was always very quick to respond to my many emails of questions. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and Nancy called ahead for us and we received an upgraded room and treats delivered to our room. She never contacted us unless it was to ask for payment. We started planning our honeymoon about 1.5 years ahead of time and she recommended a time frame for when flights should be the cheapest and that time came and went with no contact from her. My husband and I chose to do a destination wedding. We let all of our guests know a year in advance so everyone would have time to save and plan for a trip. We wanted it to be a trip to celebrate our marriage but we also wanted it to be a time where we could be in a paradise together with all our friends and family on vacation.
