Listen!!! If you want a full belly and a happy heart, you've gotta check out this place! Dynesha was so sweet and helpful and made a BUSSIN' DELICIOUS RUM PUNCH! ! The food was CRAZY GOOD! Oxtails melt in your mouth! My wife ordered mango habanero wings and all that was left was the bones! lol I highly recommend checking out this spot!

    Very small, but very clean.

It's a Caribbean Restaurant, informal place, for a bite to eat. They have lunch specials, which end at 1 PM. You cannot order them after 1 o'clock. That means your order must be in by 1 PM. The Grill is inside a small shopping center. It faces east. You will not see it easily from the road. It blends in too well with the surrounding stores. The interior is clean. The single small bathroom is immaculate. There is a picture to prove it. The server was attentive. The food was prepared in a reasonable amount of time. In the party of five, no one complained about how spicy it was. There was discussion about it, but they all ate what was served. The fish sandwich comes with lettuce and tomato on a roll. The fish was a fillet of tilapia. It was not the least bit spicy. They serve it with both Ketchup and Mayonnaise on the side. The flavoring shows they want to please the American Pallet: little or no spice, no heat and cooked to perfection. This is a good place to stop for lunch or dinner. Just remember: order before 1 PM if you want the lunch special. If you miss it there is still plenty to choose from. It's easy to like.

DO NOT eat here they will scam you !!!

This was my first time trying THIS Jamaican restaurant in particular, and when I tell you, I was not satisfied the food was not good. The service was horrible. I would not recommend anyone going THERE 2/10 . There were two other people that acquainted me and they also messed up their orders as well. they charge me for drinks that I did NOT RECEIVE!! And I drove very far to reach Island Grill AZ!! my server was Tasha and I knew the customer service was bad when three people were ordering and she was not taking any of our orders. I would recommend you guys try Ocho's Rios GREAT COSTUMER SERVICE!!!!

A true small business. Service is good. Inside is very simple and a little run down. The door was wide open the whole time we were there so the inside was pretty cold. Menu was limited. They play pretty loud religious music the whole time. We got the oxtail and curry chicken. The food was okay. Food comes out fast. The curry chicken was salty and did not have potatoes. It was much darker in color than most curry chicken. The oxtail had many broken bone pieces. The rice and steamed cabbage / vegetables was good. It's pretty expensive of a joint given the quality of food / experience and size of portions. There are better Jamaican food options in the valley.

Amazing dishes that i ordered, very pricey though i paid over 40$ for a beer, medium sized main dish which was Oxtails with a side, ordered a extra side which was mac & cheese (10$) it was À la carte (huge portion) probably top 3 in Phoenix. had leftovers. My server was very friendly (cute) and loved to chat it up. I miss the days 3 yrs ago when this dish was no more then 25$ i left 25% tip. Think its a new owner, the last owner was rude and obnoxious asf.

    Straight trash

Straight TRASH!!! This food was beyond nasty, and a service was probably even worse. I hate to tear down a black business but it's already tore down. Bad service. Bad food bad everything mind you the fish. I ordered right there was the large red snapper. I'm scared to know what the little one is plus I pay $46 for this plate. If I can get it a -0 I would.

1 shot of rum and a little bit of the ginger beer. Didn't get the whole bottle yet was charged $15 for this garbage drink

This place has gone down hill drastically since the previous ownership. I wish it had a grass wall so I at least knew it was a scam. Went in for a cocktail while I was waiting for Ethiopian food we love next door. They had the nerve to charge $15 a drink before taxes for these tiny cups of nothing. I ordered a rum and ginger beer. Mind you a whole bottle of ginger beer says it's $4.25. I got maybe 1/5 of it for my drink since they didn't leave me the bottle. So you mean to tell me that shot of regular rum cost $13? Make it make sense. Bunch of crooks. I've eaten here before too and for 4-5 funky small dry pieces of the tip of the oxtail costing $27.99. I digress. I'm all for supporting small businesses and they gotta eat.. but when you trying to just get rich quick. That's a hard no. Especially when the customer service is trash.

The meat was tender and packed with flavor, simmered in a savory gravy with onions and peppers that soaked perfectly into the rice and peas. The cabbage on the side added a nice, lighter contrast and rounded the whole plate out. It felt hearty, comforting, and made with patience. The team there is friendly, the vibe is relaxed, and the portions are generous. I walked out full and already planning what I'm ordering next time. Easy five stars from me.

Everything was really, really good. Seasoning was on point and nothing was overly spicy. Both meats were super tender with excellent flavor! The cabbage wasn't anything to write home about. It was just cabbage. The rice and peas were yummy! The minus one star is because I didn't like that there were four small oxtails. For the price of $27 I was expecting at least one big one. I also didn't like the amount of bones in my brown stewed chicken lunch plate and the little amount of meat given. But then again, it was a lunch plate so I get it. Those patties were everything and the plantains were chefs kiss!! Hands down the BEST Jamaican food that we've had in AZ! Give them a try!

You can choose your jerk sauce as Sweet, Mild, or Spicy, and we both went with Spicy. In my opinion, that's the way to go! It's not so spicy that it overpowers the food. Instead, it has just the right amount of heat with a subtle sweetness that makes every bite incredibly flavorful. And let's talk about the portions! They are very generous, especially for the price. In today's economy, finding a restaurant that serves both delicious food and generous portions at a fair price is becoming harder and harder, so this was a pleasant surprise. We've actually been to Jamaica, and I can honestly say this meal took me right back to our island vacation years ago. The flavors were authentic, the jerk seasoning was spot on, and the rice and peas and steamed cabbage were the perfect sides to round out the meal. I can't wait to either dine in or order from them again because there are so many other dishes on the menu that I want to try. That said...my heart belongs to jerk chicken, so I already know I'll be ordering that again and again. Finally, a true taste of the islands right here in my own backyard!

Both meals came with generous portion sizes, which we appreciated. The oxtails were the standout dish. They were tender, well-seasoned, and very flavorful. The cabbage was also delicious. One thing that was different from other Jamaican restaurants we've visited was that the cabbage included peas, which was new to us, but it was still very good. The rice and beans were just okay. They could have used a bit more seasoning and flavor. The jerk chicken was also just average and didn't stand out as much as the oxtails. The prices are on the higher side, with most dinner entrees costing around $30 or more. However, they do offer weekly specials, which may provide a better value. They also feature live music on certain days, creating a fun atmosphere for those dining in. The restaurant is conveniently located in a shopping plaza surrounded by other businesses, including Dairy Queen, Jamba Juice, Kohl's, and several other shops, making it an easy stop if you're already in the area.

The authentic Jamaican jerk chicken was packed with flavor--perfectly spiced, smoky, and tender. The coconut peas and rice were fresh, fluffy, and delicious, with just the right balance of coconut sweetness and savory notes. Everything tasted homemade and full of soul. The chicken was incredibly tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, with just the right amount of spice. The rice was absolutely delicious, and the plantains were cooked to perfection. We interacted with three different staff members during our visit, and every single one was warm, welcoming, polite, and genuinely kind. The woman kept checking on me, and I actually liked that the cook brings out the food that's a nice personal touch you don't see everywhere. That said, the portions were underwhelming. I understand it leans more toward a dine-in experience, but the oxtail serving felt small. The presentation almost plays tricks on you it comes on a large plate with separate bowls for the sides, which makes it look like more than it actually is. On top of that, having to choose between cabbage or plantains felt a bit limiting for sides. The rice was a little dry and slightly hard for my taste, but I will say the plantains were really good sweet and done right. I couldn't help but compare it to another Caribbean spot I recently tried in Glendale, where the portions were generous and the oxtail was big, tender, and full of flavor. Here, the flavor was good, but it didn't stand out. I've definitely had better, so my expectations were a bit higher. Overall, it's not a bad spot it just feels pricey for what you get. I spent around $60 total: two cocktails at $15 each, plus the oxtail at market price (which can run $30-$40). The biggest plus is convenience it's close to home, so it's an easy option when I'm craving Jamaican food. But if I'm being honest... next time, I might still find myself making that drive back out to Glendale.
