Comfortable, sorta on the dark side. Classy. As I was not driving today, I decided to try their smoked Old Fashioned. Excellent -- and the dark cherries they use are the perfect addition to the cocktail. (The glass is coated with smoke from a smoldering piece of pecan wood, and the cocktail was served with a cloud of smoke under a coaster covering the glass.) The pig sickles ( ribs) were the perfect chance to make a pig of myself. Had the two meat plate, pig sickles and barbecued pulled chicken, If you like corn, you must have the side of corn with your dinner. The barbecue beans were delicious. Our server did a magnificent job tending to our drinks, appetizer, and food orders -- despite being very busy (the place was packed! -- and seemed like she was in constant motion. Very nice individual who liked la Prices? It was expensive, but the best barbecue always is. Eating isn't cheap. It was well worth every dollar spent. All in all, it was a perfect dinner. The perfect parting gift: a small paper bag containing four small donuts, coated with cinnamon. Our bag didn't make it home... I think we've found the perfect place to bring our family and out-of-town guests for dinner.

I also ordered catfish and shrimp, collard greens and green beans. My drink was the limeade and the red velvet cake for dessert. Fried chicken was not exceptional and the batter was too thick and not really flavorful. Rice gravy was good and the Mac n cheese was decent. The catfish was good and I would order again. The shrimp however were over battered and not memorable. My favorites that hit the mark were the collard greens, green beans and the limeade. I will be ordering all of those again. The big disappointment was the red velvet cake. The multi layered slice displayed in the online/ kiosk menu looked phenomenal. What I got was a a large price of a sheet cake. It tasted good but not the same as a multilayered round velvet cake would have tasted. Overall, I will go back to try the smothered pork chops and bbq items.

I had the Tri-Plate Chicken ($25). It consisted of green curry, Caribbean BBQ, and Jerk. The spice is a gentle warmth that pervades the upper body. The cabbage with rice and beans were perfectly cooked. The restaurant itself is bright and naturally lit during the daytime. There are plenty of knick-knacks and wall art to satisfy your curiosity while the main guy cooks an unbelievable lunch. This is a family owned and operated restaurant. The son is funny and quick to lend a helping hand. Everything is served in to-go trays, which is a nice touch considering the portion sizes. Don't forget to tip!!!

Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish. The food took about 30 minutes to come out, which would have been fine if the quality matched the wait, but it didn't. Overall, I'd rate the food a 2/10. The oxtails had little to no flavor, which was the biggest letdown. Honestly, the best part of that dish was the potatoes. Gravy was watery and greasy. The cabbage was actually good and had decent flavor, but the VEGAN mac and cheese was completely tasteless and lacked seasoning. We really wanted to like this place, but based on this experience, we won't be returning.

Jerk chicken, peas & rice and hot cabbage slaw. I had my jerk sauce on the side because I thought it might be too spicy for me but it wasn't so I kept dipping. Lol Pineapple soda and sugarcane & natural fruit puree. Of course 6 beef patties to go! It was very delicious!! They are known for their food truck ( see where they will be on Instagram @cool vybz and for their Wednesday all- day buffets. Open for 9 years, husband and wife team from NY of course. Go NYC!! Chef was so nice he came out to check on us & invite us to the buffet since they didn't have the coconut pineapple shrimp dinner that night. Wednesday they have the whole menu on the buffet. Lots of seafood & fish too. All different kinds of people came in for takeout. You must go !!! Thank you cool vybz

When we arrived to pick it up, they told us they didn't have any jerk chicken after all. My boyfriend asked if he could substitute oxtails to accommodate for the misinformation we were given, but the lady told us no and said we would have to choose something else instead. This place is horrible. The customer service is disappointing, and it's frustrating to be told an item is available only to find out otherwise when you arrive.

I usually loathe what some people call American food because the vegetables are overcooked and the food is under seasoned, but this place was perfect! We started off having the Frito pie, and the chili was just spicy enough with Fritos, cheese, and onions, and it was just a great, great dish. I remember this dish from my old neighborhood. I had a cocktail that was made with whiskey, lemon, and some other things that was incredibly refreshing. Then I had a chicken-fried pork chop, and this was so good, so flavorful! The gravy was wonderful! I added a little pepper to it and a little bit of the juice from those peppers in the bottle, and it made it perfect. This came with fried potatoes, which were wonderful, and green beans, which were stupendous. The green beans were not cooked in the usual lousy American style but were shiny, taut, crunchy, with just enough give. The almonds added to the deliciousness. Some of the best green beans I've ever had in my life. The pecan pie tasted homemade, and I wolfed it down. The restaurant itself had a kitschy old West theme with tons and tons of signs and pictures up on the walls. It looks like the kind of place that you'd probably drink beer, but the fact that they had great cocktails and great everything else really made it shine. Our server was friendly and very attentive. She was a sweetheart. This was a really good experience, and I will now tell everybody who comes to Phoenix to come to the Texaz Grill.
