The rice is a little harder than I prefer, but still well-seasoned. The coco bread is warm and fluffy, and the plantains are cooked just right--yummy and finger-lickin' good ! The staff plates your food like you're family, and you can truly taste the love in their cooking. Be sure to bring your patience, as everything is cooked to order--but it's definitely worth the wait. We usually visit right when they open during the week to grab our food before it sells out later in the evening. Holy moly! Words can't even describe how amazing the food and service is here. We came in to get to go food for a late lunch/early dinner and there was only one other table in there but that didn't mean a thing. I had the jerk chicken bowl and she chopped the chicken fresh right there. I had it with the rice and peas. Chicken was extremely tasty and fell right off the bone, the rice and peas were absolutely delicious, not dry at all which is what I've had at most places in Phoenix. It came with a side of their jerk sauce which was amazing even though the chicken didn't even need it. Saturday night visit. My party had the jerk chicken bowl as well as the oxtail bowl with rice and peas. The rice and peas are kidney beans and rice. Everything tasted well. The jerk sauce does not have a kick at all. It was quite bland as far as jerk sauce goes. The oxtails were very small but tasted great. I also tried one of their housemade juices that was very good. Everything is amazing where do I even start. Their wings are so flavorful the mango jerk is unreal I've never had a fruit come thru so much on a wing. Sherrie is so kind. Never, ever open when I go by... Their restaurant hours don't line up with when they're actually there. And to make matters worst their phone doesn't work. No one picks up not just because no one is there... no one has EVER picked up when I called. The last time I was there, the lady making food/at the front told me to call to check on food before I come (they were also out of a lot of items when I went). I went down there and they were closed. On a Thursday afternoon? I went down there again on a Friday. The door was open, but people were dressed formally. I went in, and everyone was glaring at me, but no one said a word like some illuminati gathering. Really uncomfortable. I had to ask someone serving what was going on. She said it was a private event. She allowed me to escape out the back, but I don't know why I should've felt embarrassed. It's public property and they could've sprung for a sign that read "PRIVATE PARTY". I know small businesses are struggling but the struggle is REAL. THE FOOD: It's hit or miss. I've had the curry goat w/rice + peas and plantains, beef patties and coco bread. Curry goat was phenomenal. Once the beef patties were ratcheted. Like real bad. Another time they were ok, but some fat and gristly inside. Not lean meat. Made me wonder what I was eating.
