I tried Ocho Rios for the first time recently. I have some good points, and well some pointers to consider for the business owner. The food, authentic Jamaican cuisine at its finest!!!! I ordered curry goat, rice and peas and festival bread. All good in taste, and Jamaican hot sauce on the side to accent. Now what I feel is an area to consider for improvement..... Karaoke! So I had no clue that it was Karaoke night. But here's my issue. So the Karaoke was not in a separate area of the restaurant. It was directly were we as patrons were trying to enjoy a good meal without hearing people that are attempting to pursue their American Idol chance with singing live off key! In my opinion, have Karaoke not directly in the dining area. I couldn't enjoy my meal, let alone hear my own thoughts. So food A+, karaoke C- .
I love Caribbean food and I am definitely a critic when it comes to it. It is one of my favorite cuisines, so I tend to have high expectations. With that said, this place was really good. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered from here twice within the same week. The first order was excellent. The portion size was generous, the flavor was on point, and everything felt worth the price. Caribbean food can sometimes feel expensive, but this order delivered real value. The second order, however, was noticeably different. The portion size was smaller, and the overall quality did not quite match the first experience. If it had been as good as the first time, I likely would have ordered a third time. There was also an issue with my order. I paid for extra curry gravy, ordered it both with the meal and as an additional side, and did not receive it. The delivery service handled the refund, but it was still frustrating, especially since the restaurant tends to be a bit sparing with gravy even when you pay for it. That said, the flavor and overall taste of the food are undeniable. The first experience was so strong that it honestly outweighed the issues from the second visit. I also ordered takeout both times, and I know that can impact quality by the time the food arrives. Because of that, I would absolutely try this place again, but next time I plan to dine in to get the full experience. There is clearly something special here, and I am hopeful that consistency improves, because when it is good, it is really good.
I finally made it here and I was not disappointed. After seeing they have $2.50 oxtail tacos for Taco Tuesday I was on a mission. Taco Tuesday starts at 6pm and even though that's a little later than I would usually eat dinner I made the exception. Traffic was delayed but I arrived right at 6pm. There were only a few people already there so there was plenty of tables available. The bartender greeted me and my sister when we entered. There was a seat yourself sign and we sat right across from the bar. There is a QR Code to scan for the menu and the bartender brought over the drink menus. It was also happy hour and I saw Rum Punch for $7. I ordered a Rum Punch and I found out they have jerk chicken, pork, and shrimp tacos in addition to the oxtail tacos for Taco Tuesday. I ordered 1 jerk chicken, shrimp, and oxtail. I also ordered a beef patty although I wanted to try the chicken curry, but they were out of that one. The drinks came out first then the beef patty. It was freshly cooked and very tasty. While enjoying the Rum Punch the DJ started mixing some old school hits. That was unexpected but made the dining experience so fun. When the rest of the food came out I couldn't help but to sing and dance in my seat while eating the tacos. I enjoyed the tacos but would have liked a little more of the protein added. Everything was great. Our server was phenomenal working the floor solo. She was very friendly and attentive. I also did a carry-out order of the mild jerk chicken entree with white meat, cabbage, mac n cheese. So much food I was able to split it up for 2 days for lunch. Now I want to go back for brunch!
For the price of the food and the amount given definitely not worth it...I paid a total of $40. I got a jerk chicken plate, a beef patty, Mac and cheese and oxtail gravy. 3 small pieces of chicken was on that plate. Chicken was pretty burnt, rice was dry and the oxtail gravy had A LOT of bones in it. I've tried multiple Caribbean restaurants that were way better and price efficient! I couldn't believe the outcome. I drove across town to try this place and was highly disappointed.. will not return.
A friend and I were craving Jamaican food and decided to patronize Ocho Rios Jerk Spot! I'm so glad we did. Parking is somewhat of a challenge but the food makes up for that. The service was great. Our waitress gave us some recommendations and we decided on the platter. We chose the oxtails and brown stew chicken as our meats along with steamed cabbage and plantains! Everything was delicious! I wanted to slurp the gravies! We also had some patties (beef and the chicken curry) and they were fire also! Happy hour was in effect and you can TASTE and FEEL the liquor! The place is clean and there's good lighting and amazing vibes! I can't wait to go back! I want to try other dishes but I am so impressed with what I had at this visit! Thank you for the generous portions! I don't take many pictures because I was ready to dig in! Please support this restaurant and tell me what else I should try.

I ordered through Toast, full of excitement, ready for my first real meal in my new home... and then got the delivery notification with a photo that made me say out loud, "Who the heck's house is that?" Cue a brief episode of delivery confusion, a few phone calls, and me standing there hungry but trying to keep my cool. Here's the important part, I didn't want a refund. I didn't want credits. I just wanted my food. And this place made sure I got it. Was there a slight delay? Yep. Did it require some chitchatting? Sure. But the care, patience, and follow-through were genuinely above and beyond... and that matters. And oh my GOODNESS, the food. The jerk chicken wings (spicy) were sweet, warm, bold, and fall-off-the-bone tender... beautifully seasoned and downright addictive. That jerk sauce had depth and balance that kept me going back for just one more wing until suddenly... no wings. The chicken curry? Maybe not the exact version I'm used to, but still absolutely delicious. Comforting, flavorful, and perfectly paired with peas and rice, festival on the side, and a Jamaican ginger beer that sealed the deal. This was my first substantial meal in my new home, and it honestly couldn't have been better. A million out of ten. A bazillion out of ten. I'll be ordering again, and next time I'm going in person. If you like Jamaican food, or even if you just like food made with care, do yourself a favor and try this place. Next time I'm not holding back: patties and cocoa bread are happening. Thank you for turning a potentially frustrating moment into a warm, delicious, unforgettable one.
Ordered the Curry Shrimp as well as the Fried Snapper. Both were great, but my plate was essentially a cabbage plate with a side of shrimp. Highly disappointed, as my experience has never been like this before. The low rating is mainly because I called this in and received no follow-up regarding the issue.

All of the food we ordered came out hot and fresh and was delicious. The flavors were authentic and lots of spice. Our cocktails were perfect and packed a punch. It was so good that we ordered a couple of meals to-go. The highlight were the oxtails!
Ordered the salmon meal through DoorDash and enjoyed it. The salmon was made curry style as requested. I cannot depict the timeliness due to the fact I had my food delivered to me . Ultimately I would return and order from them again.

We ordered a Jerk Chicken Meal and a Jerk Wings Meal, both with rice and peas and steamed cabbage, through DoorDash, and let me tell you...it was absolutely delicious! You can choose your jerk sauce as Sweet, Mild, or Spicy, and we both went with Spicy. In my opinion, that's the way to go! It's not so spicy that it overpowers the food. Instead, it has just the right amount of heat with a subtle sweetness that makes every bite incredibly flavorful. And let's talk about the portions! They are very generous, especially for the price. In today's economy, finding a restaurant that serves both delicious food and generous portions at a fair price is becoming harder and harder, so this was a pleasant surprise. We've actually been to Jamaica, and I can honestly say this meal took me right back to our island vacation years ago. The flavors were authentic, the jerk seasoning was spot on, and the rice and peas and steamed cabbage were the perfect sides to round out the meal. I can't wait to either dine in or order from them again because there are so many other dishes on the menu that I want to try. My husband visited this location and placed a to-go order ahead of time. He ordered the oxtail dinner and the jerk chicken dinner. Both meals came with generous portion sizes, which we appreciated. The oxtails were the standout dish. They were tender, well-seasoned, and very flavorful. The cabbage was also delicious. One thing that was different from other Jamaican restaurants we've visited was that the cabbage included peas, which was new to us, but it was still very good. The rice and beans were just okay. This place is a whole vibe! I went for Taco Tuesday and tried the oxtail, chicken, and shrimp tacos. They were all fire, and for only $2.50 each, you really can't beat that. To wash it all down, I had the Rum Punch, which was definitely mixed the authentic Jamaican way. While I ate, there was a DJ mixing live music. I believe he was from Chicago, which was right up my alley being a former native myself. I enjoyed every moment of the experience. Great food, great music, and great energy. The Ocho Rios food truck pulled up to my complex, so I had to give them a try. I was a little thrown off because they ran out of brown stew chicken, white meat, and cabbage. The gentleman who took my order hooked up my plate since they were out of a lot of items. The chicken, rice & peas were seasoned really well. We ended up making our own veggies at home. If they circle back, I would be down to give them another try! read more

The food quality was good. I definitely enjoyed the Jerk chicken and fried chicken. It wasn't my mom's Mac and Cheese but it was good. The cabbage had carrots, peas and corn which was different but very flavorful. I went on Juneteenth so I was surprised that they only had one server. She was friendly and did her best but they were definitely understaffed. It took about 20 mins just to get her to bring water and another hour for the food. The experience was about two hours which longer than expected. The restaurant was cozy. read more

I honestly really like this place. I have not been to it in person because I have always ordered from Uber eats. My favorite thing to get here are the Jamaican Patties and the Oxtail! So good. I would say a couple of times my Jamaican Pattie's and plantains have arrived a bit soggy. I recommend their beef Jamaican patty. read more

This was my first time trying g Caribbean food and I must say it was all that I expected. The food tasted amazing and the portion sizes were more than enough. I had the jerk chicken combo with steam cabbage and rice & beans. I also ordered a beef and their signature Ginger Pineapple juice. Everything was great. I considered giving them a four star because of the 30+ minute wait time, but the food was made fresh to order and arrived popping hot. The ambiance of the restaurant was calm and pleasant and the server was very informative and patient with me, as I had many questions about the menu. Ocho Rios Jerk Spot located in Glendale is a MUST! Located in a small shopping center that offers indoor, bar, and outside seating. This location is LEGIT authentic Jamaican food, vibe, and people! Customer service was amazing from Ms. Aliyah! Food was so flavorful and delicious! Vibe was chill while you hear reggae music playing in the background and conversations with strong Jamaican accents! Caution...their spice level ain't no joke and ain't for the weak! We had the mild as we love spice and it was HOT! It was so delicious in flavor I couldn't stop eating it even though it had me tears and sniffling. They offer sweet, mild, and hot for their jerk wings. If the mild was HOT for me I pity the person who orders Hot, get ready for flames coming out your mouth. Lol It appears they have their own food truck and also a catering van. We ordered: HH Jerk wings (mild) with festival (which is a type of fry bread that is slightly sweet) - AMAZING! Delicious flavor, moist in the inside, and comes with a side of sauce if you can take the heat! Lol Oxtail plate entree w/rice and peas and plantains as my 2 sides - AMAZING! Tender oxtail, thick sauce, and flavor was amazing. Plantains were thick, cooked perfectly with crispy edges! HH jerk wings (sweet) w/festival and a side of rice and peas and plantains - sweet sauce was delicious. I would suggest getting the sweet jerk wings and ask for a side of mild sauce to still get the heat/spice but, your able to control the amount of heat so you wont be in tears Lol. Sweet and mild sauce together was a good flavor profile! Jerk chicken entree w/rice and peas and plantains - Delicious! Just FYI, they use whole chicken so be prepared for bones. If you don't care for thigh bones and such you're better off ordering the jerk wings. There is another location I think in Goodyear but this one in Glendale is the OG location! I hear the one in Goodyear is a hit and miss as far customer and food quality. One day they are amazing and on point, the next time you go you may not receive what you actually order. So do yourself a favor and take the drive to the Glendale location. read more
Originally wasn't sure what to expect because the restaurant isn't in the best part of town. With that being said, the inside of the restaurant is very nice and clean! There is plenty of parking in the little plaza. The food and service were both amazing! I ordered my favorite of all time Jamaican dish: stew chicken. I did not disappoint. I love that you get to pick 2 sides and there is a variety to choose from. They are opening a spot closer to my house in Laveen and I cannot wait! read more

What's a good time to go on Saturdays? A small group who misses our island getaways :) It looks like this place has a good ambiance and food and island drinks...sign us up. We're thinking this Saturday.
