I ordered through Toast, full of excitement, ready for my first real meal in my new home... and then got the delivery notification with a photo that made me say out loud, "Who the heck's house is that?" Cue a brief episode of delivery confusion, a few phone calls, and me standing there hungry but trying to keep my cool. Here's the important part, I didn't want a refund. I didn't want credits. I just wanted my food. And this place made sure I got it. Was there a slight delay? Yep. Did it require some chitchatting? Sure. But the care, patience, and follow-through were genuinely above and beyond... and that matters. And oh my GOODNESS, the food. The jerk chicken wings (spicy) were sweet, warm, bold, and fall-off-the-bone tender... beautifully seasoned and downright addictive. That jerk sauce had depth and balance that kept me going back for just one more wing until suddenly... no wings. The chicken curry? Maybe not the exact version I'm used to, but still absolutely delicious. Comforting, flavorful, and perfectly paired with peas and rice, festival on the side, and a Jamaican ginger beer that sealed the deal. This was my first substantial meal in my new home, and it honestly couldn't have been better. A million out of ten. A bazillion out of ten. I'll be ordering again, and next time I'm going in person. This place is a whole vibe! I went for Taco Tuesday and tried the oxtail, chicken, and shrimp tacos. They were all fire, and for only $2.50 each, you really can't beat that. To wash it all down, I had the Rum Punch, which was definitely mixed the authentic Jamaican way. While I ate, there was a DJ mixing live music. I love Caribbean food and I am definitely a critic when it comes to it. It is one of my favorite cuisines, so I tend to have high expectations. With that said, this place was really good. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered from here twice within the same week. The first order was excellent. The portion size was generous, the flavor was on point, and everything felt worth the price. Caribbean food can sometimes feel expensive, but this order delivered real value. The second order, however, was noticeably different. The portion size was smaller, and the overall quality did not quite match the first experience. If it had been as good as the first time, I likely would have ordered a third time. There was also an issue with my order. I paid for extra curry gravy, ordered it both with the meal and as an additional side, and did not receive it. The delivery service handled the refund, but it was still frustrating, especially since the restaurant tends to be a bit sparing with gravy even when you pay for it. That said, the flavor and overall taste of the food are undeniable. The first experience was so strong that it honestly outweighed the issues from the second visit. I also ordered takeout both times, and I know that can impact quality by the time the food arrives. Because of that, I would absolutely try this place again, but next time I plan to dine in to get the full experience. I tried Ocho Rios for the first time recently. I have some good points, and well some pointers to consider for the business owner. The food, authentic Jamaican cuisine at its finest!!!! I ordered curry goat, rice and peas and festival bread. All good in taste, and Jamaican hot sauce on the side to accent. Now what I feel is an area to consider for improvement..... Karaoke! So I had no clue that it was Karaoke night. But here's my issue. So the Karaoke was not in a separate area of the restaurant. It was directly were we as patrons were trying to enjoy a good meal without hearing people that are attempting to pursue their American Idol chance with singing live off key! I finally made it here and I was not disappointed. After seeing they have $2.50 oxtail tacos for Taco Tuesday I was on a mission. Taco Tuesday starts at 6pm and even though that's a little later than I would usually eat dinner I made the exception. Traffic was delayed but I arrived right at 6pm. There were only a few people already there so there was plenty of tables available. The bartender greeted me and my sister when we entered. There was a seat yourself sign and we sat right across from the bar. There is a QR Code to scan for the menu and the bartender brought over the drink menus. It was also happy hour and I saw Rum Punch for $7. I ordered a Rum Punch and I found out they have jerk chicken, pork, and shrimp tacos in addition to the oxtail tacos for Taco Tuesday. I ordered 1 jerk chicken, shrimp, and oxtail. I also ordered a beef patty although I wanted to try the chicken curry, but they were out of that one. The drinks came out first then the beef patty. It was freshly cooked and very tasty. While enjoying the Rum Punch the DJ started mixing some old school hits. That was unexpected but made the dining experience so fun. When the rest of the food came out I couldn't help but to sing and dance in my seat while eating the tacos. I enjoyed the tacos but would have liked a little more of the protein added. A friend and I were craving Jamaican food and decided to patronize Ocho Rios Jerk Spot! I'm so glad we did. Parking is somewhat of a challenge but the food makes up for that. The service was great. Our waitress gave us some recommendations and we decided on the platter. We chose the oxtails and brown stew chicken as our meats along with steamed cabbage and plantains! Everything was delicious! I wanted to slurp the gravies! We also had some patties (beef and the chicken curry) and they were fire also! Happy hour was in effect and you can TASTE and FEEL the liquor! It was a little dry and luke warm . We tried the fried bread whi h was ok. There was only one server most of the night . Our main meals took about 40 minutes and they gave us the wrong side The fried chicken was tasty and crunchy..the cabbage was way too salty . The curry chicken was falling off the bones. This place is solid, came in on a Friday night w/ my husband and niece. Hubby and I shared the four meat, two side combo. We got the jerk chicken, coconut curry shrimp, stewed chicken and the oxtail ($8 up charge), with the red beans/rice and cabbage. It was good, everything seemed like it needed a little salt, but that could just be a personal preference. My niece ordered the curry goat with mac and rice, she loved it. It breaks my heart to have to write this review. We went mid-week so it wouldn't be busy. I've heard good things from fellow patrons about the food and I wish I could say the same. Finding Jamaican food is Arizona is a task all by itself, finding good quality Jamaican food is becoming impossible for Arizonians. Our server advised we get the meat platter as it offered a wider variety of meat and larger portions. Please note there is an additional $9 charge when ordering oxtail, our server failed to mention this, thus making the meat platter more expensive than what we would have originally ordered. Each plate taste the same as if the foundational gravy and sauce is all the same and maybe thickened upon ordering.
