Great group of peeps.....all supportive, makes workin out quite fun! Steve and Harold are very knowledgeable. :)

It was amazing seeing so many people in our box turn out for the Strength in Numbers competition and kick butt!

CFMS is AMAZING! I love the trainers and the community. Trainers Betsy, Steve and Harold are well informed, experienced and encouraging and I am a better athlete because of it. I was nervous when I first joined because I was new to Crossfit and everyone looked so experienced. I quickly learned how amazing the community is. Everyone encouraged me and rooted for me even when I was the last to finish. They pushed me forward when I was frustrated with moves like pull ups. People encouraged me by telling me, they were frustrated when they first started too but if I put in the work I would get there and I did! If you're thinking about trying Crossfit for the first time or checking out a new box this is the place for you!

Fun day lifting with my girls!

I love CrossFit Mariner Square! This is the kind of box that make you feel like home. The coaches are extremely friendly and patience. Crossfit members can use the whole gym facilities including over 80 fitness classes every week, hot tub, steam, sauna and an indoor pool so I can mix up my workouts! I CrossFit 4 times a week and mix with yoga, pilates and AB classes. They are all covered under my membership and under one roof! I highly recommend CF Mariner Square to anyone that wants to get fit or change their lifestyle.

With the coaches help, I've lost over 40 pounds of fat in the span of a year and gained muscle mass. Urban Fitness emphasizes using free weights, focusing on form and technique before lifting heavy. You'll find that while you're able to squat heavy on machines, poor posture and bad habits from not bracing your core does little in the real world. The style of training can be transferred to every day chores from carrying bags of groceries up the stairs in one trip, to lifting your fridge while remodeling your kitchen. I never realized how little I could lift on my own without machines involved. The workouts are class based and has a coach demonstrating each set and correcting form. As intimidating as a class workout sounds, the community and friendship bond you will find in class are unmatched. It's really easy to make friends, especially if you're someone working from home and need a change of pace, this is a good place to go. The people I've met here became my family. We go on snowboarding trips and run spartan races together. It's not CrossFit and all levels are welcomed. The highly trained staff can provide all different levels of workouts whether you're new, looking for a challenge, or injured. There's something for everyone.

If you go to the Crunch Gym in Alameda and then the Bladium -- you'll have a new appreciation for space and room to breathe. The remodeled men's locker room is cool -- most importantly -- it is clean and does not stink. I only use the facility for cardio and free weights. The machines and free weights are probably 30+ years old (seriously), but they work and I like the old school steel plates. The entire facility has been under construction and it looks like they're going to make the facility like something on par with the NFL Combine's fitness facilities. I learned during the pandemic that new weights and weight machines cost a fortune, but I'm hopeful they will update the equipment. Most importantly, I hope they extend the hours of operation on the weekends. Indeed, their hours of operation should be 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. (minimum) every day. Oh, there is always free/available parking and the gym manager is extremely responsive/professional. Bottom line: this gym has the space and location to become the best fitness facility on the East Bay -- but they must extend their hours and spend a small fortune on new weights/weight machines. The images I have included with this review are dated, but they give you a good idea of the size of this place and show the degree to which they are re-doing the place!

So many memories, like winning a state championship and rock climbing with my friends. The Bladium was an experience: to drink, to play sports, to work out, to have fun. I recently came back after finishing college, just to find the main football field and a majority of the weight room gone to pickleball. At first, I did not mind, however, it feels like the only people who come in are pickleball players. Its sad to see my friend's old family business being made into a pickleball center. Even the new company's logo shows where their priority is at. Heartbreaking to see. I will always remember the sounds the floorboards made.

Pilates: I love attending the reformer classes, particularly Alba's and Jessica's, but I've attended most if not all of the instructors' classes and they've all been great. The weekend classes do get kind of quick so it's better to book in advance. Gym: Clean, never packed (at least when I go). I always find space to stretch with no issue and have never had to wait for what I need. People put their weights back. There are spray bottles and cloths to wipe what you use after. The bathrooms are clean, and the red light sauna is a treat (honestly my deciding factor for adding the membership lol). I've yet to use the cold plunge or the showers. You get $10 off when you have more than 1 membership. I had a billing issue in the beginning and they were very responsive and helpful. All together I pay $164/mo for both. The lack of a parking lot is a mild inconvenience, but street parking is hardly an issue with all the residential streets with free parking around Park. Great gym!!

Some of these places have so many members that you can feel lost in a crowd. CLASS SIZE: Enter Sequoia CrossFit, where the biggest thing is the actual gym building! The classes are a perfect handful of 10-15 people and the instructors keep a keen eye on your form and make helpful suggestions. DOGS: But the best thing about it is that it is dog-friendly!!! Matt, the owner, has welcomed my dog, Stella, with open arms and even lets her run around with his own pups before and after class when everyone has left. It's the thing she looks forward to the most, more than the actual dog park! LOCATION: One thing I should say, though, is that there are no big signs so I had a hard time finding the gym next to a mechanic shop and buffet. I was nervous to go in and I tried researching it on Google Maps but even there you can't tell where the building is, especially when the hangar doors are shut. Just know that it is a dark grey building. I'll try to post more pics of the outside and post them here. FRIENDLINESS: As a travel nurse, I move often from city to city. This gym has felt like a diamond in the rough, not because of the huge space, free parking, large bathrooms, new equipment, and other amenities, but because of cool people like Coach Matt and Coach Chris and the rest of the members here. I'm currently doing the Open right now, and they have been so accommodating even when I have to retry to get a better score. And now I'm looking forward to their in-house competitions where they have silly trophies and the goal is just to have fun and get to know other members! I could write more about this wonderful space, but I recommend that you come and check out their free introductory class and packages before committing to a membership if it feels right. I promise that you will feel so vibrant and accomplished because of all the support you'll receive that you will easily rise to the challenge.

I am new to joining a gym and as a senior, I hoped for a positive outcome, and not feel intimidated or like I "didn't belong" I felt very welcome, I've taken a few classes that have been beneficial for me. One is for posture & strengthening. The instructor is fabulous, knowledgeable and makes our workouts fun. I thoroughly enjoined a class called "just breathe" very relaxing and uses the "Alexander Technique" but now the wonderful instructor is on maternity leave and we look forward to her return. There is currently a sub but I haven't had a chance to go back. I'm learning to use the equipment at my own pace. There are several rooms with different equipment and I never feel pressured by someone else needing the one I may be using. I bring my own container of disinfectant wipes, since not everyone is conscientious about wiping their equipment after they're done using it. And I'm fine with using my own, even though each room does provide a spray bottle and small towels are available at the front desk. I bring my own mat to the classes, but they have them at the front desk if you need to borrow one. The best for me personally is the use of the indoor pool ! I have never enjoyed using a pool anywhere until I joined this gym. I've tried two different classes. One is Gentle Aqua & another one is Aqua Cardio. Both instructors have different times depending on the day of the week . Both ladies are fabulous! The hours suit my needs perfectly. The ladies locker room is always immaculate. Shout out to Maria who is there Monday - Friday She keeps the locker room, freshly clean, always wiping down the wet floors as we come back from using the pool. She is very kind and welcoming, and we appreciate her so much! And lastly, the Manager, Edward was very kind and welcoming. He gave me a nice tour of the gym. I was a bit uncertain that joining a gym was the right thing for me to do. He gave me information on trainers that they work with to help me along with my journey. My friend and I joined together & we are pleased with our decision to join. He remembers our names and greets us personally every time we see him. Overall we recommend this facility, especially as a Senior citizen, we truly feel we belong
