I tried Island Hut for lunch today. There was no free water and only a few store brand drinks to choose from in a cooler. I had ordered and paid before I was told that it was going to be a half hour wait. We were the only customers there, but apparently they had phoned-in orders backed up. I was with a friend, and my food was ready way before his was. I had the pork char siu plate. I actually really like plain rice, but this rice tasted like nothing, and the mac salad was literally the blandest mac salad I've ever had in my life. The reason I gave it three stars despite all this is that the pork itself was just marvelous. It was moist and flavorful with the perfect amount of char. The rice and mac salad come with it, but if I ever go again, I'll just tell them to keep those and just give me the pork. read more

Lots of old reviews. My first visit today around 1 pm. Not busy. Clean with nice ambience with island vibe. Nice staff. I ordered Hawaiian BBQ chicken with rice & mac salad. $10.95 and huge servings. There is self serve water on the bar & soda fridge to help yourself. The food is delicious & I will return to try the other items, but these are my observations & minor suggestions. Personally, I felt the rice was a little too mushy. The Mac salad could be a little sweeter like local Hawaiian style, and the BBQ chicken could use a little more teriyaki sauce. Just a bit dry from it being BBQ d on the grill. Just add a little more sauce would help soften & moisten the BBQ chicken. My daughter ordered the chicken Katsu, it was delicious, but it wasn't served with gravy on top or on the side like pictured here. It was served with a tiny condiment container of some type of sauce. The prices were great, and we were completely full when we finished. My fiancé could only finish half of her plate and the two of us could only eat two Lumpia each before calling it quits. We had leftovers for the next day and it was still delicious All in all, I'm so glad this place has opened up I can see they have a lot of support from their friends and family is very good to know they have places like this in Bremerton I can't wait to go back myself and try the other menu items like the pork and chicken dishes. read more

Yummy food and great customer service! The meat was a little fatty but overall super good flavor!

Had beef Teriyaki with mac salad and rice. Large portion of the beef with the best sauce, not the sickly sweet stuff but just right! Loved it. Mac salad was OK. I lived 10 years in HI and never did care for mac and mayo so I won't critique it. However the meat was tough - took me about 5 minutes to chew each mouth full! But I did because the sauce was so delicious :) I recommend using baking soda to velvet the meat before marinating. (See The Woks of Life website for instructions or just Google). I'm going to say this place deserves more than my instinctively considered three stars, if you are a big time meat eater; so I'm giving it four stars merely to not be mean about it being a place I cannot go to again. Nearly everything is for people who love beef and pork, which gives me the willies. There are in the actual Hawaii plenty of vegetarian dishes -- a single vegan bowl (no meat or fish in the broth either) would be thoroughly basic. All I could get at Island Hut (apart from shaved ice dessert) was plain noodles -- noodles with nothing -- deeply disappointing, so this is not a restaurant for me. But portions are large and price is cheap, so for you meat eaters, a more joyful place to stop in. read more

I rarely give 5 stars, but this place is awesome! Super fresh food! Very friendly staff and excellent customer service. The prices here are super reasonable and the portions are large! First time there we ordered the daily special which was beef teriyaki, Kalua pork, rice, Mac salad and 2 little lumpia's. Also got a musubi. We are not much of beef eaters but the beef teriyaki was great! The Kalua pork was super tender and melted in our mouths! The Mac salad is legit here, good flavor and very authentic! The musubi was pretty good as well. 2nd time we ordered from here (day after 1st visit) ordered the loco moco daily special which came with 2 pieces of spam and the Hawaiian BBQ chicken plate. i've heard of island hut for awhile and glad i finally tried it! unfortunately they were out of most of their chicken entrees like chicken cutlet and chicken katsu. i got the bombucha plate and the katsu was replaced with bbq chicken. the plate did not disappoint! the chicken, beef, and pork were all very flavorful. the beef was cooked perfectly with a little bit of pink and the chicken was sweet, but not too sweet. it was juicy and tender. i've had really bland kalua pork in the past but theirs is great! i had a few bites of the loco moco as well and that was good. the gravy wasn't too salty or bland and the eggs were cooked perfectly. i'm not big on mac salad because every mac salad i've had has been bland, even in hawaii, but theirs wasn't bad. i didn't love it because i don't personally care for mac salad to begin with, but i did have several bites of mine! the service was great and the prices here are honestly amazing! $62 for six people and we were all stuffed before the end of the meal. would definitely eat at island hut again! read more

I have tried every hawaiian food joint in the Kitsap area and I can honestly say this is DA BEST!!! The menu is simple, The food ONO (taste good) and they give plenty! This place gets my vote for best Lumpia. They are the size of egg rolls and you get 5 for $3. Plus they made a vinegar dipping sauce for them that I prefer over the usual dipping sauce.
