I've been coming here every 2 to 3 weeks for years and I've loved the ladies and the work they do, so I'm sad to be writing this review. Unfortunately, there's been some shady stuff happening recently with their business practices and integrity. The final straw and reason for this review - my sister accidentally sent them $1,000 using Venmo and they refuse to return it. Here's the longer story, for anyone interested. My sister lives in CA and visited a few weeks ago and we got our nails done together. Islands Nails is always very insistent on cash payment or Venmo, which I've never had a problem with. I used to own a business. I understand. So we both paid by Venmo when she was in town. Yesterday, she needed to send $1,000 to someone with a very similar Venmo name as payment for an upcoming trip she's taking. Unfortunately, she sent it to Islandbabe instead. This is the Venmo that Island Nails uses for payments at their business (which can't be marked as transactions, by the way). Both names started with "island" - so although it was of course my sisters mistake, I understand how it happened. She unmediated called and explained the situation and was hung up on. She tried again later and was told they are with customers and hung up on. I went by in person, but they were closed. So we decided to take a deep breath and wait until morning so I could stop by in person. I knew for sure they would return it - they know me by name and obviously knew they'd understand. Meanwhile, my sister requested a stop payment with the bank, which was denied due to the transfer already being completed. She also contacted Venmo, but they said that since she has made a valid payment to Islandbabe in the past, they can't get involved. So I went this morning in person to explain and was certain they would make things right. Unfortunately, I was told it was my sisters mistake, and that they can't refund it without discussing it with the owners. I asked if they could call and I would wait, and they said no they don't call in the morning. So I asked if they would call me in the afternoon once they're able to refund it, and she said I can stop back by and would not take my phone number down. I mentioned it's obviously not a valid payment, and I know they'll refund it for her since it wasn't intended for their business. But was told, "I don't know, it's her mistake" :-( So yes, it's her mistake and she is out $1,000 for her upcoming trip. But I thought for sure they'd have the integrity to send the money back. Instead, they blocked her on Venmo and they are keeping the $1,000. They do a great job with nails at a reasonable pricebut they do run a shady business. If you chose to give them business, make sure you know the price for your service before you begin (even if you've done the same service before), bring cash, and don't expect transparency. I'll be bummed to find a new nail place, but I can't support those practices. read more

The second time they burned my whole face and I paid them $120 for the services plus tips. They didn't offer anything they just said sorry. My face is Still hurting and burning like Hell. I needed 4 new nails, my son needed his eyebrows waxed, and my daughter needed eyelash extensions. When I first walked in I noticed a bar, lol I asked if I could have a drink lol. I ended up getting a Margarita, Lol I was instantly in love. The people were amazing, my daughter loved here eyelashes and my son loved his eyebrows. They all did amazing! They gave my daughter a free eyelash cleaner and fixed my nails for free, because I was a new customer and wanted my business. I will definitely come back. I completely recommend this this place. My experience here was absolutely terrible!!! After my first visit I concluded that they are rude and do not care about the comfort of their clients. As I arrive I am greeted by someone who was texting and could barely look up so a smile would have been too much to ask for. She then takes me as a client and after she begins to drill I immediately tell her which nail is broken and badly hurts. She stops and decided to soak my dip off instead. Less than 2 minutes have passed that my figures are submerged and she tries to rub it off. A dip client knows it takes at least 10-20m of soaking and they typically will squeeze off the now gooey dip. Well she did not wait and started on that finger first!! She squeezes and twists my finger and I nearly jumped out of my seat because I was not expecting it at all. Claiming she didn't know. I ended up leaving because the manager who took over, could only tell me "it's fine" rather than apologizing. read more

I was not shown all of the options for a pedicure, they only showed me the 3 most expensive ones. I am from out of town and thought that those were the only options, even when I tried to grab the menu she just pointed to the options. When I realized there were other ones i asked to switch because she had only put one packet in the water, and they said no, but discounted me 8 dollars instead of just adding 8 to the $28 pedicure. Really sweet people and really clean application, but make sure you ask for the prices upfront. There was a woman next to me who got a mani with acrylic & tips, gel and matte coat and a pedi with gel. Her total was $65. I got a basic mani/pedi with gel, NO enhancements at all. My total... $85. I flat out was like "HUH?" And as the tech started explaining the prices. Still didn't match up to what I got vs the woman next to me. This used to be my nail place, when Teri was the owner. It recently changed ownership and I will not be going back. I went a month ago, made an appointment with Teri. Showed up and was then told Teri no longer works there or owns the business. (Probably should of mentioned that when I made the appointment)But Ok not a big deal. So I had someone else. Which was fine, but one lady started my pedicure and then another one finished my pedicure and did my manicure. Which was ok. I had an appointment yesterday for a manicure, was seated right away which was great. However I sat for 10 minutes watching, while the lady which I thought was going to do my nails, proceed to take 2 walk in customers for pedicures, get their water ready and told them to take a seat. Then she made a phone call. Was on the phone for only a few moments. Never said anything to me, until I got up and said I'll come back another time. She then said "someone was on their way for me." Literally this lady did my nails in 2 seconds, DIDNT tell me she was done and just started taking the shit off the pedicure station...MY FEET WERE ON THE FOOT REST STILL AND SHE PULLED THE TOWEL FROM UNDER MY FEET. My favorite local nail spot in the Chandler / Gilbert area so far - I've been to about half a dozen. I'm a germ phobe, so much that I only get a polish change on my toes because I'm so paranoid about any infections. Have you SEEN some of those tootsies in some of those chairs? The level of trust you must have to comfortably sit there and assume the area has been thoroughly sterilized... i just don't have it. That being said.... if i were to get a full pedi at a local shop, this would be the place. They are very clean, very organized, and the service is great!! Also, the ambiance and setup is really cute. And they have great polish choices. I typically get the the gel mani and the toe polish change (hahaha). The ONLY reason I can't give full 5 stars, is because I have such a hard time scheduling or securing a time slot. They are sooo busy and really do need to get some more nail technicians. If you can get in, do it! You won't be disappointed. read more

She never apologized and it just went down hill after that. She kept getting up to answer phones and walk ins but yet I was done only 5 minutes after my friend was when her tech started on time.
