    Detroit deep dish pizza

Stellar food and service as always! We make this a staple to every trip! Can't get better pizza off island. The sauce is the best part so tasty!

This place is fast and easy to either eat inside or take to go. The park is close and on a nice day I like to eat it there. I've had their margarita pizza which is decent with the thin crust. I also like to get order a custom pizza with all my favorite toppings. You can't go wrong. The service is friendly and if you want to plan a head call it in. This place is casual so after a long day of shopping, walking or biking you can grab a nice quick bite. Great for larger groups as well.

Not a great spot but that's what you get on island. Service was quick though. Pizza is just ok.

Visited on a September afternoon for a late lunch/early dinner. The place was busy but staff were friendly. We went with a simple pizza combo with a breadstick. We ordered, got our slices, and took a seat inside. Fast service! The pizza was good, hit the spot after a bike ride around the island. Breadstick also had good flavor. TV was playing a video about the snow bridge and winter on the island. A great place for a quick bite to eat. Menu has pizza of course but also salads, subs, and pasta. We had a better experience compared to the first time we visited here.

Decent snack if roaming around and hungry. Pizza was average, side salad was ok. Service was good, but restaurant was not very clean and flies were everywhere. The staff were all friendly and the pizza was served hot and fresh. A little pricey for the quality.

This place left me unsatisfied. We were hungry and looking for lunch and the pizza slice combo we got here was a bit disappointing. I know it's an island so the prices are going to be higher, but the price for one slice of pizza and a breadstick was ridiculous. All the pizzas tasted the same, no differing flavor and I felt pretty sick after eating here. It's expensive and not really worth it

Soo many options! So if you want a small to large pizza for a dine in experience you're in luck! If you just want a few slices with some Breadsticks you're also good! The pizza by slice is New York thin style. The breadsticks have an awesome Parmesan sprinkle On them...I mean it's just good. If you go during lunch or dinner be prepared to wait a few to order...or wait for a custom pizza to come out. Lot of people on an island only one real pizza joint. It's not too expensive but the bigger the pizza the more you'll be paying. But definitely a must go eat if you're looking for quick and delicious or easy and casual.

He even wished my mom a happy Mother's Day before taking our order, which was a nice touch. We started with the Street Corn Nachos as an appetizer, then ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a grilled portobello mushroom sandwich, both with fries on the side (an additional $4 each). This was an excellent place to bring my mom since she's vegetarian, and the restaurant had plenty of vegetarian-friendly options. The food was excellent, especially the nachos -- the queso was amazing. The restaurant also gives you a lot of customization options, like swapping chips for fries for an extra $4 or adding protein to the nachos for an additional charge. That said, while the nachos were really good, they were still $18 without any protein, which honestly felt overpriced for chips, cheese, and vegetables. We came during lunch service, and overall the food, service, and view made for a great experience. However, it is definitely on the expensive side. Most entrees seemed to range from around $20-30. Still, if you're willing to spend a little more for quality food, generous portions, and a great atmosphere, it's definitely worth visiting.

There actually is another Doud's down Main Street toward the ferry area, but it's a smaller grab-and-go convenience store, mostly with snacks and coffee. My hotel was right across the street, so I bopped into Doud's a couple of times during my stay, to grab a bottle of wine (they have a decent selection of wine), some candy for my kids, and some fruit because I needed to eat something fresh. The strongest asset of The Backyard is the setting. Quite simply said, the view is stunning. From our seats, we could see Lake Huron, the Mackinaw Bridge, and the sunset. Across the spacious back lawn were fire pits, circles of Adirondack chairs, fountains, and walking paths. The temperature was about 68 degrees with low humidity and few bugs and was absolutely perfect. I ordered a brisket and carmelized onion pizza for $24. While I originally thought the price was a bit steep, I changed my mind on this after it was delivered to my table. The pizza was loaded with chucks of smoked brisket, carmelized onions, and smoky gouda cheese. The flavors blended with each other into a complex masterpiece of sweet, smoky, and slightly sour flavors. I would estimate that the pizza was about 14" and provided 2 meals for me. My mother order the smoked pork taco (which actually was 3 tacos) for $16. The tacos were loaded with shredded smoked pork, pickled onions, and a spicy salsa. We finished up the meal with a couple of beers while we watched the sunset. Our server, Morgan, added to the overall experience. She was hustling from table to table, but never rushed us, and paused to have a nice conversation with us. Overall, a good value given the beautiful setting and high quality dishes.

To be fair, since it's on Mackinac Island, you're going to travel an hour just to get here anyway. But yeah, if I lived anywhere in the area I'd plan a night around coming here. The three things I look for in a brewery are an inviting outdoor space, accessibility to some good grub, and (of course) some quality beers. Big bonus if a place is dog friendly. Great Turtle easily accomplishes all three. Our waitress was great - they were fairly busy but she was super friendly and made sure we were taken care of without being up-in-your-face. The lunches we enjoyed were tasty and filling. We actually came here twice on the same day. The first time we got the 12-sample flight of all their beers. We then left for a walk around the town. After an hour of talking about Great Turtle we decided to go back for lunch and a pint of our favorite beer from the flight. Very rare for us to repeat a place, especially on the same day! Next time we venture into Northern Michigan I'll try to convince Mama to go back again, get a room nearby, and spend more time without the concern of driving later on. My rating scale: 1 - Just don't 2 - You'll survive, but there are better choices close by 3 - Good choice if you're in the area 4 - I'd drive 30 minutes out of my way just to come here 5 - I'd try to convince my wife to drive an hour just to come here
