The process from check in, to parking on the ferry was simple. The ferry had ample seating inside . Note, if you want booth seats, you have to try to be the first ones in. The ferry was very warm, and cozy . On the ferry there is hot food , all type of drinks, and plenty of snacks to purchase. Rating: Incomplete…read more As the Lewes-Rehoboth Beach area becomes an off season short vacation spot for us, the Cape May-Lewes Ferry becomes a very interesting alternative route there from Bucks County, PA. The drive to Cape May takes about two hours, and the ferry with wait time embarking, disembarking and traversing Delaware Bay, another three; the time comparison is not favorable to just driving there directly. However, there is something to be said for taking a short cruise for its potential for relaxation and obvious uniqueness, and the option of spending time in Cape May, which remains more charming than the southern terminus and certainly worth your attention. Too, off-season pricing is very reasonable at $22 per car and $6 per person; making the value proposition outstanding. So, our solution for next year is to make the run by going to beautiful Victorian Cape May for a few days before catching the CMLF across to Lewes, and spending a few more days down there for crabs, fish and more exploration down the Delaware coast. We will decide then whether to drive or ferry home. The Lewes terminal is a comfortable place to hang out for a while, answer questions about the ferry and grab a drink/lunch at Grains, the in house restaurant overlooking the bay and ferry operations. We found our hour there worthwhile and fun. More to come as we fulfill our plan. 5 Star potential!

The base commander and his wife who happened to be camping out prior to his change of command was eceptional friendly and most informative when it was apparent that a thunderstorn and possible tornado warning was inherent and provided for cover in the main building. Due to the small size of the training site, minimum amenities are available but given the location to the nearby beach access to the Atlantic Ocean, closeness to Rebobeth Beach DE and Ocean City MD all but made the stay enjoyable especially for $30 per day. When requesting reservation and checking in the Billeting office personnel were exceptional and very pleasant in providing information. I would give his a 4.8 out of 5.0 only due to the limited amenities.

This faded quickly at the entry level with a strong smell of wet dog, followed by no cooling on the interior. The pictures on the internet are dated and things are cluttered now. The room I booked was not the room held, but since it was a weekday I could have my pick of the 3 front rooms, none of them the one I booked (?). The room was clean and there was AC that, when turned On, over time cooled the room down. During the night I was awakened by the heat and found the AC was not cycling On unless the ceiling fan was On (?). There are plentiful sugary and baked goods snacks and soda in the breakfast room for anytime. The fresh fruit though was over or under ripe. The morning coffee was not hot. Breakfast did happen and I was able to enjoy a wide selection of melon and berries with yogurt that was put out buffet style. The eggs requested, came pretty much as desired. The first morning I found out the free bike option was no longer available. I must have read about bikes in the reviews but now find they are no longer available in the fine print of the booking. My pleasure in staying here always fell short. I would have enjoyed a cookie cutter motel as much. I suppose I wanted the accommodation to be as attentive as the decor pictured. Then, as mentioned, the pictures are from some time in the past.

I got there around 3:30 PM and there was no one there to help us check in. However, on the way I was told everything I needed to know to get in through the main door and into the room. There is a small private lot to park in plus the street is free for parking next to the building. I do not know if that becomes an issue in peak season but at least it wasn't a worry for now. The common area is super nice. It feels like being home. There was white and red wine out and soft drinks in the common fridge as well. The room itself was surprisingly large and comfortable. Everything was in place for a great stay - ample towels in the bathroom, instructions for everything including where to place used glasses and so on. Waking up breakfast was being made for any guests that wanted it. Banana pancakes with bacon and some grapefruit. It was nice to smell those smells before coming down to experience it! The only frustrating part was the initial booking. Since the single night could not be reserved online I needed to call. I was never able to call and get a person immediately. I always needed to leave a voicemail and wait for them to get back to me. Though I cannot say it was a big deal, it still does make for a bit of a hitch if you are trying to make last minute plans.

When you haven't had any days off in months though and your daily routine is getting to you and physically (mentally and emotionally not applicable here because there is alcohol for that), the idea of driving down to Wildwood with the possibility of swinging by AC, to be on a boat for 2-3 hours is pretty relaxing - dolphins or no dolphins. Getting a Groupon deal on this helped too, although these guys are not expensive to begin with - for two people, it's $35 on Groupon/$76 without. Although there were no whales, we actually did get to see a family of dolphins. Had we not gotten to see them, the tour itself would have been sufficient as well, as we got a pretty detailed tour of Cape May, its surroundings, and some interesting facts about the Jersey wetlands. Like I said - this may sound dull, but when you are on a boat away from work & worries - life is good. They have 3 cruises per day - 10:30, 1:30, and one in the evening. The afternoon cruise is a bit longer and features free hot dogs !!!!!!! OMGFJSDFLKJ1111!!!! With free afternoon hot dogs, a friendly crew, and an excuse to go down to AC - what more do you need?
