The Inn itself is very clean and has a lot of interesting history that Lee (the manager) will happily share with you. The rooms are well kept and super clean with plenty of amenities available. The continental breakfast is thoughtfully provided with fresh fruit salad and an array of cereal, bread and other options. They also have plenty of coffee and a tea station that I particularly loved with an array of options and even teapots on hand. The grounds are beautiful with plenty of blooming flowers and green space to enjoy yourself and hang out. We particularly liked the very friendly koi in the koi pond which came over to say hi when we approached.

The rooms were pretty comfortable, and the continental breakfast with homemade blueberry muffins were delicious. Downside, there was still renovation activity going on in the rooms nearby. Plus, the mini fridges had not been installed yet so no way to keep our leftovers cool. In the end, the staff was super friendly and ready to assist... and the check in/out was a breeze.

We splurged on the charcuterie board upon arrival which was 100% worth it. From 4-5pm they had happy hour with complementary wine and appetizers. The Inn owners were so nice and offered great recommendations for things to see and do in the area. We took their suggestion to have dinner at Salt and Cyprus with waterfront views and great cocktails. In the morning, the inn's breakfast was perfect. Fresh fruit, homemade muffin, coffee, juice, biscuits and gravy, and scrambled eggs. With our short stay, we ran out of time to try out their fire pits and take a bike ride through town. Next time we'll have to stay at least two nights!

There spare no expense to make the guests feel like royalty. First of all, high end coffee machine, fresh made cookies every day, ice cream sandwiches in the freezer... Then, the breakfasts are like dining in a Michelin star restaurant. Easily would be $25-30 in a restaurant. They have a happy hour(s) each night from 4 to 6 and serve 3-4 high quality wines and an assortment of local and regional beers. David and Tania are amazing hosts and we will definitely be back. There is lost to do and see in this area and the White Doe is a perfect hub for all things north OBX.

Also with access to a large swimming pool and hot tub for relaxation... Another plus is it's located between Manteo and Kitty Hawk, so you have plenty of options of places to go for drinks, a good meal, sight seeing, or for a good time in the water. The rooms were comfortable and the staff was so nice. It just felt like home, but I'm from another place and this was manteo N.C. The lobby even had a history! The original owner was very kind to people who needed a place to stay, so he would sometimes give tenants work. A way of singing for your supper. The art in the lobby was done by one of the tenants in lue of paying for his rent. When the business was sold, the new owners thought it to be a good idea to hold onto it for its historical value of this awesome hotel.

I had to go to the front desk and ask and while I was there another guy said, yep couldn't figure it our. It is in the middle of the mirror. 5-Large stain on ceiling. 6-Could use another hook for the towel in the bathroom. Only one hook to hang a towel is not helpful when you have two people and you want us to reuse your towels. Otherwise stay was pleasant, bed comfortable. The night before we left, I was checking a link in my confirmation email and was informed that the reservation was cancelled. I was after hours and when I called the inn, but the inn keeper called me right back and sorted things out! We arrived at the charming Burrus House Inn the next day. Upon check in we were informed that we were upgraded to make up for the cancellation fiasco.... Um yes please! The room was amazingly huge and to top it off it had its own private balcony! They have continental breakfast served each morning and serve happy hour with wine and charcuterie from 4-6 each evening, which is a great bonus! Also if you are looking for a special dessert during your stay, they have a chocolate cake that is to DIE for!! They went above and beyond to make our stay special, so thank you! We really enjoyed our stay at Burrus House Inn and will visit again!

We booked one of the apartments for the 4th of July weekend. It had 1 bedroom with 2 queen beds, and the other living space had another queen bed, 1 full bath and a full kitchen. I appreciated that we had enough room to set our pack n play, and our toddlers blow up mattress on the ground, and still had plenty of space to get around in the room. We had 4 adults and 2 children (3yrs & 4mos) in our party, and it was very nice accommodations. Cold AC, linens and towels were very clean, and overall the apartment was very clean as well!! Located in such a convenient spot in Manteo, and very easy to get around. The only thing I would change for the apartments is a "starter kit" of things like paper towels, a sponge to wash dishes, dish soap, and if the kitchen had a set of plates and cups, and a baking sheet! Those were the only things we felt like we needed during our stay since we cooked in the room! Next time we are in the OBX, we will be back to Scarborough Inn!!!

It sits right on the beach, which was great for us and the kids as we were excited to get our week rolling. The indoor pool was nice to take a break from the sun. Rooms were clean and the breakfast was nice.
