My first time at islands was definitely a stellar one. The parking was moderate, it wasn't difficult to find a spot. As we went into Islands I noticed all the details of the restaurant, it has such a great vibe to it just by looking at it. It looks like a restaurant that would be a great hang out spot in films like "50 first dates", "Aquamarine", or "Teen Beach Movie". As you enter there's a surf board and an Island in the middle of the restaurant which is the bar. All the details are great, just like a restaurant I'd think to see in an island. As soon as we entered through the door there was the meticulous hostess, she greeted us so well and found someone to sit us down right away. We didn't wait a minute. We were seated in a booth. Let me just add how great the booths are here! They're super spacious and it's no burden at all sitting on the inside. The booth was also super clean. The maintenance in this restaurant was remarkable. Our waiter then came to get our drinks, his name was Jake and he was super delightful. He had all the characteristics you want in a great waiter! He was funny, attentive, engaging, and congenial. I ordered the Crispiliciois with the side of onion rings. The onion rings were very little, I'd say there were like 5-6 rings. You're probably thinking "wow, that's nothing!" But man does it full you up! I finished the onion rings first and already found myself hunger-less. The Crispiliciois wasn't great. I didn't like it at all. It's not the type of burger that was for me, I just didn't like the taste, it was difficult to finish half. However, I could tell all the parts of my burger (lettuce, tomato, crisp chicken, ranch cream cheese, and onion/grilled onions) were top notch. That quality tasted good! I just didn't like the burger, I really wouldn't recommend it to anyone, maybe if they ask for the burger without the ranch cream cheese it could be better. Did I mention it was my birthday? Well, it was my birthday. At the end of our meal, Jake asked if we wanted a dessert, I then mentioned it was my birthday and he offered me and desert from the dessert menu. The left side the the menu was to share and the right side of the menu was more of a personal size. I got the chocolate lava cake, which was SO good! Truly, it was amazing! He brought the cake and put a candle on it for me to blow on. Overall, my first experience at Islands was excellent, I will absolutely be back. I just won't order the Crispiliciois ever again. I advise, if you aren't a ranch person, you don't either. read more

While the food was decent, the service was horrible. We came in a large group (8 ppl) and when we asked the waiter for separate checks he was incredibly rude and responded, "For 8 people. No way." What? Are you kidding me? Even if he couldn't split the checks (which is bs he just didn't want to do the extra work), he could have responded a lot better. Also, he went MIA for large portions of time and so people had to wait and wait and wait for refills. At one point, someone had to literally chase after him to ask for more water. Some people never got the refills they were promised (of fries or drinks) and the food came out at all different times so no one was eating together. Lame. read more

When reviewing a chain restaurant, I tend to focus more on the customer service as the food should be the same from location to location. I ordered the Hula (which is my favorite burger here) and although I hadn't been to an Island's in a long time, it still tasted the same. To show how long it's been, back then you ordered the burger and fries separately. Now, they upped the price a bit and offer endless fries or a different side of your choosing. I liked that option. What makes this a lackluster Islands is their customer service. The greeter had no personality. He just schlupped us over to a booth and that was it. Periodically I'd see him schlumping back and forth. No idea why. Our waitress was also non-impressive. She gave us the standard greeting, took our drink and food order and that was it. Water was brought out promptly and so were the burgers. But the burgers were brought out by a different individual. I think she came by twice afterwards. Once to check if we were ok and the 2nd time to ask if we wanted dessert as she was dropping off the bill. Again, there was nothing wrong perse about the experience but there wasn't nothing memorable or stellar either. read more

Had the Kilauea and it was very tasty. I'm giving it a three mainly due to it being overpriced. I wanted to try the sweet potato fries instead of the regular fries but I had to pay an extra $1.25. So I ordered a side salad and it was served in a super small dish with way too much dressing. read more

It's a fun place to go if you like the bar type atmosphere televisions all around the bar area towards is where I sat food was good I had Baja tacos we had nachos about we spent an hour and a half in the place very attentive staff when a good time. read more

The spinich artichoke dip is awesome! The burgers are great and the fresh cut crispy fries are tasty.

The nachos straight off the menu are pretty plain. Next time I'll have to try them with chili or something else to give them some flavor. The pineapple burger was really good. I've been going to Islands restaurants since they opened one in my hometown in Fountain Valley back in the late 80's. I know exactly what to expect when I go to Islands and I seem to always get great customer service at these restaurants. This was my first visit to the Orange location of Islands and I wasn't disappointed. I ordered the North Shore with French Fries instead of beans and it was great, but expectedly so. Where they really shined on this night was their customer service. The couple next to us was fighting, not overly loud, but noticeable and a little uncomfortable. I wasn't planning on saying anything to our server, but he brought it up as soon as the couple left, apologized, and offered us free dessert. It was very unexpected, but a very nice gesture. I'm happy to say we enjoyed the Kona Pie and the awesome service at Islands! read more

If I could give Islands in Orange a zero star review I would. Islands has always been one of our comfort places to go to when we feel like a burger. The food has always been good and the atmosphere fun. NOT ANYMORE! I have tried to stay loyal, but... I AM DONE going there. The drive to the Brea Islands, though long, is worth it. My orders have been messed up every time I have gone to Islands in the last six visits. Crazy I have kept going. Yesterday, not only was my order wrong again, but the waitress didn't come back so I just ate what was delivered to the table. Our ketchup bottle was empty so we gave up waiting for the waitress to come to check on us- instead I got up and got a bottle from another table. It was also empty so I got up and went to a third table to get the ketchup. My fries arrived with a half order size and of that half order size, half of them were brown. Not sure if they were burned or if the cooking oil was too old. The mgr came to our table and asked if we wanted a box for the 2nd half of my burger. I told him no and that I had been waiting a very long time for something to drink so I could finish my meal. Save yourself getting frustrated. Go to a different location for your meal. read more

One star is to generous. This was the worse food. My fish tacos smelled so bad. If I had eaten them I'm sure I would of been dealing with montezumas revenge! I sent them back didn't, really want anything but order a chicken salad. It was so so. The hubby had a burger and I took a bite while waiting for my salad and it was a sad excuse for a burger. I was sorry I took a bite. When we got the bill I expected that we wouldn't be charged for the salad that arrived when everyone else was done eating. Nope, they charged me for it. Fast and excellent service! The Kona Coast Salad and wraps are fresh if you want something else besides burgers. But the Aloha burger is usually the burger I get. This place have a great happy hour menu as well. The place is huge, clean and never over crowded. There's always plenty of parking as well. read more

A very nice experience on Friday, Feb.17, 2107. The bartender, Samantha, was very pleasant, professional, and welcoming. She maintained an even demeanor in the presence of two very drunk parties at the bar. One had a very loud woman who simply made the night difficult; the other party became progressively drunker until they had to be cut off...a job Samantha did very nicely and very professionally. What could have been an unpleasant and delicate situation was avoided. I highly recommend Islands in Orange...the servers are nice, many customers know each other, and the obnoxious drunks are rare. Went to dinner after wedding dress shopping. Arrived around 8pm and had to find someone to sit us down, took awhile to get a waitress. The food was ok but the fries were cold and old. I requested fresh hot fries but felt I still just got heated over fries again. I did Not feel the customer overall service was there will NOT return again. Perhaps the manager at the Orange location can visit the Riverside location to see the customer attention from start to finish that make eating there a good experience. read more

I was at a graduation at Chapman University and we went to Island's after the ceremony. Our waitress was very kind and did a good job on taking care of our party. The food was pretty good but nothing to rave about. I ordered the bacon cheese burger and it was decent. The fries have a unique taste to them but not at the top of my list. If I was ever in the City of Orange again, this wouldn't be my first choice. read more
