The Swinging Door used to be my usual stop after having a nice dinner at Chaak Kitchen down the street. The bartending staff at Chaak always treats customers like family, but unfortunately, they close early, so my sister and I would often end up at The Swinging Door afterward. This past Friday night, the bar was not busy, yet Jacqueline, the bartender, repeatedly ignored us. After our first drinks, we tried to order a second round and flagged her down several times, but she showed no interest in helping us. Her behavior came across as dismissive, rude, and completely uncalled for. I had not been back to The Swinging Door in a long time because of a similar experience, but I previously chalked it up to the bar being busy that night. Unfortunately, this visit confirmed that poor customer service continues to be an issue. No one goes to a bar on a Friday night expecting to be ignored or treated poorly by the bartender. Lesson learned. I sincerely hope management retrains its bartending staff and reminds them that being attentive and kind to customers is a basic part of the job. read more

I've been to this bar before and have always had a good time, which is why this experience was so disappointing. My sister and I went there on Friday night, and from the moment we walked up to the bar, bartender Jaqueline completely ignored us. She walked past us multiple times without even acknowledging us. When I finally got her attention by raising my hand, she waved me off and said she'd "be right back." She never came back. Instead, Jaqueline continued serving other people while acting as if we weren't even there. I was polite the entire time, so I have no idea why we were treated this way. We did notice that Jaqueline was very attentive and friendly with several older gentlemen at the bar, while my sister and I continued to be ignored. That contrast made the experience even more frustrating. Unfortunately, the other bartender wasn't any better. Rather than stepping in to help after seeing we'd been waiting, they ignored us as well. The only reason we ever got a drink was because I flagged down a bouncer and explained what was happening. He apologized and said he'd get Jaqueline, but even after speaking with her, we still waited another 15-20 minutes before she finally came over to take our order. I've been to this bar before and never experienced anything like this, which is why this was so shocking. Being busy is one thing, but deliberately ignoring paying customers is another. No one should have to ask security just to get a bartender to take their order. I hope management addresses Jaqueline's behavior, because it reflects poorly on an otherwise enjoyable bar. As much as I've liked coming here in the past, this experience makes me think twice about returning. read more

I ordered a beer and they forgot to bring it, then I remind them and they apologize, bring me my beer I take two sips and I'm shooting pool ( Horseshit house cues ) and I look at my table and my beer is gone and the table is clean... what kind of clowns are working there?!? Came here for some drinks and was looking for a causal spot. The vibes were good here and progressively got busier in the night. It's a relatively small spot but big enough for a full bar top, two pool tables, and regular tables for people ordering food. The bartenders were really friendly and attentive. After many, many years of hearing about and passing this place, we finally stepped into this bar... and so glad we did! On a Sunday early afternoon, we were fortunate to land (perhaps) the last 2 remaining barstools at the bar top, which is attractively adorned with rows of pennies under glass. I like the welcoming rustic decor and spacious layout, with a few counter-height tables upon entering, and limited seating along the wall-mounted tables on a couple of the walls around their 2 pool tables. Love the fun-&-friendly locals vibe and energy! A huge plus is that their extensive menu and delicious food is that of neighboring American Grub (of which we're already fans)! Yay, a bar with great food options -- the best of both worlds! Lastly, I fully appreciate and respect a "21 and over" bar; while I love children, it's wonderful having such a dining & drinking destination for adults only. This is now our favorite casual locals bar; we'll definitely be back... very soon! read more

Definitely a dope spot to hit with some boys after work! Went on a Monday to grab a couple drinks n food to make the rest of the week more palatable lol! 1st time and love the vibe! Staff was friendly and food & drinks were on point. It doesn't get enough credit on these review sites. Our server/bartender was Kat and she was amazing! MUST BE 21+ WITH PHYSICAL* ID. They will not let you dine here without your ID. Walked in with my boyfriend and was really excited to try the food because of the reviews. I really wanted to try the breakfast burger and liked how their prices included the taxes. My boyfriend and I sat ourselves at one of the tables. The bartender who came up to us was very blunt and rude. She asked for our IDs and while my boyfriend presented his, I didn't bring my wallet. I think she could have been a lot nicer and if she knew the outcome of not having an ID, she could have been more polite. She walked up to our table with the intention of kicking us out. We didn't even get a "I'm so sorry, we can't serve you without your physical ID." Her words were "I need to see your IDs." Very stern and condescending. I have a picture of my ID on my phone, but like most places they need the real thing. Mind you, I turn 26 in a couple months, so I'll take the compliment for aging gracefully. 1 star is for the poor approach by the bartender. No thank you friend. Otherwise, please enjoy the photos of the interior. The bar is really nice and it's unfortunate I didn't get to order anything. Will have to come back when I have my ID. read more

Been coming to the Door / Dawg for over 15 years. Never have I met a bartender so involved in trying to ignore, and flirt with men to get tips. I came in for dinner and left after one drink. She was completely ignoring most of the men, especially those with couples and had no idea what it means to provide good service. Her name "Hannah" a complete child and bad representation of the Door / Dawg. She had the tenacity to snap back at customers for asking for a bill. Entitled and a child. Im here at Swinging door on a Saturday night and you have the dynamic duo of Hannah and Kannitha batending the night shift. EXCELLENT customer service! They always check on their customers... Hannah is excellent . she's being proactive about refilling straws napkins and utensils. She makes sure the menus are clean so shes goes to the corner of the bar to clean each menu. She walks to each table and pickup the empty glasses and check on customers. Overall, i had an awesome experience at the Door! . I ordered food earlier and they were delicious! Not my fist time here and definitely won't be my last. Today I learned that their food comes from the pass through window with the American Grub restaurant next door! If you've never eaten there - I recommend. The ambience is adorable and rustic - same as the restaurant. Service was exceptional. Gloria was the bartender and she is quick and such a friendly gal. I've been here several times but tonight was my first encounter with Hannah and honestly she was the rudest person I've ever met. it seems like she is overwhelmed by her job because she complained about so many people in front of the other customers at the bar. I just moved to the area and have visited "the door"several times. Let me start by saying that this review is based on the targeted bullying and harassment I have experienced here from Lauren B. For whatever reason this bartender holds some grudge thats solely one sided because I don't know this person. Im a business professional and come here for a drink and food NOT to be harassed. I made an effort to nip this so I brought it to the owners attention. I was told cameras were to be reviewed and it would be addressed. Let me be clear I have had great service from other bartenders and Gloria, JP, Dominique all know me and can support our interactions have always been good. However, one day for absolutely NO REASON I was there when a big bully man walks up to me talking fast telling me to grab my stuff and that Im kicked out. This man wasn't wearing a security shirt and had just arrived. I was very humiliated and embarrassed when he didn't identify himself and tried to grab me with no explanation. I was told by other customers his name, Vincent. Twice this has happened to me with NO REASON OR JUSTIFICATION. This has happened at the start of this persons shift and it's clear this is calculated. I was told by this man I am not "allowed or welcomed here on Mondays, Wednesdays or Sundays shouting days and hours at me!!??? So basically during this persons shift "coming from the owner" were his exact words. How dare you even provide me your schedule to follow in visiting and how is this girl allowed to target a paying customer. Is it because of my gender that you're a hater and im being targeted or because im a latina. Or are you telling me you allow your bartenders to dictate me what hours Im welcomed in your establishment? She allegedly hand wrote a sign with a smiley face about refusing service to anyone. People talk and well no matter what a sign says- no restaurant or bar can simply refuse to serve you based on a whim or any reason which could be discriminatory. It's honestly the most ridiculous thing to even put the energy to write a review on this establishment but I had to voice the fact that this is extremely immature, unwarranted, and completely targeted. read more
