Last week I visited this restaurant with my boyfriend. I ordered beyti, and he ordered iskender. After one bite, he said "I can't eat this" and stopped. I honestly didn't understand the taste issue he felt, and since I was very hungry, I ended up eating both my dish and his. That same night, I was rushed to the hospital with severe food poisoning. My doctor confirmed it was a foodborne illness. I suffered bloody vomiting and bloody diarrhea, and I was bedridden for a full week. I couldn't attend work or school, and I lost health, time, and money. This wasn't just a disappointing meal -- I literally paid to get sick. I am seriously considering reporting this to the Health Department, because this is a serious public health hazard, and no one else should go through what I did. read more

I always said bay st needed a hookah lounge, a place with actual good hookah. So I was definitely surprised when I heard this place sells hookah. There hookah was bussin' you can tell they know what the're doing back there. Besides the good hookah I tried there food. I kepted it simple and order wings, because I know it's hard to mess up wings. However when my wings came out, it came correct. It didn't come out with fires. They brought it out with some delicious rice and well season salad. Well I would say well dressed salad. The wings was nice big juicy, not fried but something straight off the grill. I can taste it as I'm writing this now lol. The only thing I wish is that they playyed different types of music. If they did this place will be a VIBE! I met a friend for lunch & we definitely had a good time . They were extremely helpful & took good care of us. We ordered kabab(forgot the name lol) it was soo good, something different! It was my first time trying it & I am glad ! We also tried the Lamb Shank & I am so sorry to say we both didn't liked it! I really wanted to like this place, there's a few others - it's average this one is below average. Bland food -- place was dirty - staff was ok could be better. Food was not fresh - I ended up getting really bad food poisoning from here, I saw staff handling food with bare hands and touching money - without washing. I got so sick I reported them to dept of health - I had to go to urgent care - don't eat here unless you wanna be sick - especially if you have kids even worse. You've been warned. Okay, wow. This place deserves all the reputation, all the stars, and a permanent place in my bookmarks. Very underrated. Their outdoor seating area in the back TRANSPORTS you. It's a vibe you just have to experience, and they have their own branded blankets in case you're chilly (seriously, this hospitality). The staff? So professional, so kind, and so patient (...my first experience was in a party of ~15 of us yuppies). Okay, and THE FOOD? Actually incredible too. So many options, amazing value. Balloon bread with their dips is a trip, I enjoyed the Turkish tea, their falafel with hummus -- wow, and I also shared their small doner -- also wow. They appeared to be BYOB since friends went out to pick up bottles of wine nearby; the staff accommodated with chilling the white wine. I don't know what else to say. We were all blown away. This is a case where I'm glad I'm a cyclist/fisherman who regularly visits Staten Island (...I'm guilty that I'm a Manhattan slicker). I'll personally be back with eager enthusiasm. 4.5 Went here for a birthday NYE and had a great time. Staff was friendly and accommodating and the food was great. The salmon kebabs were cooked well and the iskendar dish was excellent I was told. They have non-alcoholic drinks only but their drinks/virgin cocktails were amazing. Loved the pineapple pop! Every time I go here, I'm blown away by the customer service. They always make us feel welcome and talk about the menu The food is amazing, plentiful, and surprisingly inexpensive considering the incredibly comfortable seats in the backyard room Everything is delicious. We almost thought we received the wrong order as the plate of grilled meat that we received was covered in delicious bread like a huge pot pie! In addition to the hummus and falafel we also received fresh salad and the fluffiest bread. They gave us 2 containers of amazing rice puddling for free. The bread was amazing. The chicken soup was good, but the sigara böreği was very, very bad. The Adana kebab was great The waiter and his assistant who first took our order were both great. However, a man who arrived later and took over at the cashier created a negative experience. He shouted that he was going to change his car and used foul language -- especially in his own language -- while female customers were present. This was really unpleasant and inappropriate. We chose Istanbul Bay for our Friday night date this week, I had driven past last week and saw it for the first time, it looked interesting and inviting. I'm glad we came. The energy of the dining room felt warm and inviting, like you went to someone's home. There was no one seated inside, there is a beautiful outdoor patio which made you feel transported to another place! Beautifully decorated, comfortable seating and nice ambiance. Service was fantastic! I could not commend just one server, All of the men on duty took care of us! The food was delicious starting with the hot bread and olive oil for dipping. My husband is a fan of hot soups so he ordered the lentil soup, it was delicious. He had the lamb chops as his entree, he enjoyed every bite. I was intrigued by the photo on the menu of the Lahmacun, it was so good! Everything was served hot and fresh. For dessert my husband had the rice pudding and one of the servers brought me a plate of fruit, fresh orange slices, watermelon and banana. They also served us the cutest cups of black tea. Istanbul Bay is a welcomed addition to the local restaurant scene on the North Shore, located on Bay Street in Stapleton. The food and service were both incredible! We tried several dishes: the mixed cold appetizers served with their freshly baked bread right out of the oven and the spinach pide (like a pizza) to start. For main courses, we had the grilled branzino, the eggplant kebab, and the vegetable casserole. For dessert, we had the baklava and the Turkish version of halva, similar to a crème brûlée. It was a beautiful evening so we sat outside on their lovely covered patio. It's a BYOB restaurant and they graciously decanted our red wine and provided an ice bucket for the white. The Gyro was absolutely to die for, we haven't had a gyro this delicious since we came back from Greece which is crazy cause this is not "Greek" food. Best Turkish restaurant in Staten Island!!! There are so many new great Turkish places in Staten Island, but this is a few levels above. The outside area feels like authentic backyard in a Turkish village, so cozy! The food is phenomenal!!! Prices are very reasonable! Good portions! Lahmagun was delicious, fried liver was tender, the salad was do different and the best I've ever had (can't remember the name), and the kofte was so juicy!!! I never write reviews but this place was so good I felt like I NEED to. First -- the menu was surprisingly huge with lots of choices (seafood, meat, vegetarian/vegetables, kids menu, appetizers, small/light dishes, big heavy meals) plus a big menu of lovely, unique mocktails. Second, there was a lot of food that I recognized and was familiar with but there was also a good amount of "authentic" (for lack of better word) Turkish/Mediterranean food I'd never heard of.... On the drinks menu, they had ayran and gazoz, which i had never heard of, for example. So if youre looking for something basic like a gyro with fries or falafel, they have that! But if you want something truly local to the region and more exotic to us boring Americans, they have that too! The service was also just right. They stored my daughters stroller for the duration of the meal and also brought us a high chair. They were just attentive enough without being overbearing, and gladly answered any questions and made adjustments. The price was also very reasonable!!! Only $38 for the three of us... My friend was convinced they made a mistake, but I did the math and it was correct. However, they did kindly and unexpectedly bring us a free dessert which was simple but delicious!! I ate it all like a big piggy. It was affordable enough that I plan to get takeout from them in the future and j absolutely will recommend them to anyone looking for a good restaurant.
