They were able to get me in in less than two hours -- much quicker than I could have been seen elsewhere -- and that made all the difference. The Middleton office is amazing. All the locations offer a 2 year warranty and I was able to use their 90 day satisfaction guarantee to trade in my computer frames that I kept mixing up with my daily wears. The prescription on the computer lenses felt strong. They checked it out and agreed to adjust the prescription, no charge. Got a trial pack of 10 pairs of contacts to try out. My regular frames had a slight problem that they fixed right up. Love Dr. Connors, but they are all good. read more

Good for VISION TESTS only - not medical emergencies! - no OPHTHALMOLOGISTS only OPTOMETRISTS here. My spouse was diagnosed with Anterior Uveitis in October 2018 and in panic we rushed here as her eye was red and she couldn't touch it and was very light sensitive. Dr. Colin V Connors started steroid use and asked us to come in EVERY WEEK to monitor it. We ended up having 9 visits with no improvement, and had I not pushed for a solution and question, we could still be visiting Isthmus and returning with the same diagnosis. That was $450 in co-pays. We went to an ophthalmologist on our own decision (once Dr. Colin, was asked several times what's going on, he then suggested we could visit a specialist for an opinion) This was after 8 visits to Isthmus Eye Care. At this point Dr. Colin, asked us to double the dose of the strongest steroid which was available, WHICH WE DIDNT DO, UNTIL WE MET THE SPECIALIST. The specialist, only asked us to return in a MONTH, and to continue same dose of steroid (not the suggested double dose earlier). We have had 3 specialist visits and they were requested in a MONTH's duration. It was clear that the WEEKLY VISITS above to no avail was a waste of money. They will try to make every attempt to loot you. Even during eye exams, additional tests are done, without advising you of added costs. read more

I was previously an employee of Isthmus Eye Care and I really do not have enough good things to say about this company. The Optometric Technicians who help you with your pretesting and photography are all really wonderful. I have only known each and every one of them to be kind, knowledgable, and really fun/funny to work with (which is just a bonus). The Opticians here are great at what they do/ some of the most skilled opticians I have met while in the industry. The frame selection here is really spectacular and hand picked by the team. I trust their taste and selection more than I can explain. They go through entire fashion lines of glasses and handpick the best ones- that means customers and patients get their choice of the best frames available. The Optometrists here are top of the line. I would explain each and everyone of them as patient focused, intelligent, and detail oriented. They are all young and at the beginning of their careers- so they have top of the line technology and knowledge. They are outstanding people in and outside of the office. I am so excited to see their practice grow and thrive. (Not to mention Dr.Wilson has the best jokes). I really enjoyed working with this team and highly suggest them. Even though I have relocated to Chicago, I plan on returning to Isthmus for my yearly eye health exam. read more

Hang on to your wallet, because this company will rip you off in about one minute. They repeatedly failed to tell me my options, ran extra tests without telling me there was going to be a fee, insisted on adding extras to my bill, all while being extremely snotty about it. "Don't you think you need what's best?" Look, I went to Sears Optical for years with a tiny co-pay and never had any problems. I work hard for my money, and I do not need people acting like I am cheap or something. Here, I was charged an outrageous amount of money for snippy nurses and stuck up doctors. Nope. Very impersonal service. People up front don't know anyone except each other and they are not that interested in you. People are too rushed. Feels a bit rushed like McDonald's combined with a shakedown cruise. Never mind the parking sucks for the west location. They also screwed up my billing and then left it up to me to fix. I'm too busy to fix their problems so ultimately they sent a very small bill to a collections agency without contacting me. I have a credit score over 800 if that tells you anything. I pulled all of our business for a family of 7 and moved it. The customer experience is really pretty bad and I don't think they know it. They seem to be focused on how many patients they can process each hour. No thanks. read more

This place is awesome. Not only do they know what they are talking about, everyone is genuinely interested in ACTUAL eye care and not just slinging out prescriptions. I appreciate that TLC because I've had eye issues that were not diagnosed by other doctors that were resolved here. And my daughter had pink eye last month that they were able to treat. They really are a one-stop shop! I recommend this place to everyone. Plus they have a great eyeglass selection. I have never gotten complimented on my eyewear as much as I have with my new glasses. I can no longer recommend Isthmus Eye Care in Middleton for any services beyond providing eyeglasses. In January 2014, during an annual eye exam, Colin V. Connors informed me that I had age related macular degeneration (AMD) in both eyes. He recommeneded the following actions 1 - a follow-up examination in 6 months 2 - self examination using a grid to determine if my vision deteriorated 3 - special vitamin supplement available for purchase at Isthmus Eye Care for $70.00 per bottle He did not refer me to an ophthalmologist. I immediately made an appointment to see my ophthalmologist at Davis Duehr Dean, But during the 3 weeks before my appointment I was extremely anxious about the prospect of losing my normal vision. In February 2014, during a complete eye examination, my ophthalmologist found absolutely no indication of AMD and told me that my eyes were perfectly normal. My ophthamologist said I didn't need to get my eyes checked again for 2 or 3 years. read more

Very professional office setting and the Doctors clearly take pride in their work + their patients. What I was most impressed about were the opticians who helped me pick out my pair of glasses. They REALLY know their stuff, and easily picked out several pairs I never would have tried on, but ended up looking really great on me. They also make sure you get the best deal for your insurance company and found rebates for my contact lenses too - that saved me $40 alone. I haven't been to any other eye doctors in the Madison area, but I'm very satisfied here and don't plan on changing. read more

I had a terrible experience buying a pair of very expensive bifocals from Isthmus Eye Care. After I got the glasses I noticed that the bifocal lines were crooked and the frames did not fit my face at all. When I brought them back to be adjusted, a total of nine times in five months, the only thing that they did was bend the frames inward, which made my vision worse. They also uselessly adjusted the nose pads, and did nothing to correct the crooked bifocal lines that caused me to to develop migraine headaches and dizziness. My vision was so impaired by these glasses that I had some close calls while driving, and this was very frightening. Even though I expressed my deep concern right away nothing was done to alleviate the problem, and they falsely stated that "we tried everything possible." This was the worst customer service I have ever experienced (especially with the manager). When I went to the Walmart optical department, they were able to correct the problem in ten minutes! read more
