I admit it, I am an açaí bowl snob. I am picky about my ingredients and don't waste my time on…read moremediocrity. With that said, know that we came here twice in 3 days for the Wailua Moana bowl. It's that good. This little coffee shop does a lot of business. The line wasn't long though and they work quickly preparing the food with love and attention to detail. You can eat inside or out with lots of tables to choose from. The açaí itself was a bit soft, but I liked that it wasn't hard as a rock. The granola was great. The berries and banana were plentiful. The big scoop of coconut peanut butter was fabulous and the honey and chocolate on top were the crowning achievement. It was an A+ in my book, and that is saying a lot.

The coffee was good, but oh my gosh -- does anyone here know how to smile?…read more I actually joined the rewards program and managed to rack up a whopping 227 points during the week we were there, so obviously I gave this place plenty of chances. And it didn't matter if I was there at 6 a.m. when they opened, noon, or 3 p.m. -- the attitude was always the same. I've worked in the hospitality industry my entire life, and I'm also a huge tipper. I honestly can't remember the last time I felt so compelled NOT to tip. I don't expect anyone to put on some fake performance for me, but basic friendliness shouldn't be too much to ask. I don't understand why so many people working in coffee shops on this island seem genuinely annoyed by tourists. Is it because you know you'll probably never see us again? We're on vacation. We're happy to be there. We're buying your coffee. A little friendliness goes a long way. In retrospect, I should have just walked across the street to Starbucks. At Starbucks, I'm already accustomed to everyone hating their lives and their jobs while they hand me my coffee. At least I know what I'm getting -- and it's actually cheaper. So if you're staying in the Waikoloa area and just looking for coffee, the coffee here is good. Just know Starbucks is right across the street.

You can get the artificial flavors like cotton candy but try the real fruit syrups here. Yum! There is usually a long line but the ling goes fairly fast. It's worth the wait. The staff is friendly. The restaurant has tables outside to enjoy your treats. We loved this shave ice place with real fruit juices.

They're very short and clipped, which I get because there were quite a few people in line, but when we went back up to ask a question, they were not willing to help until we (overtly and somewhat rudely) had to flag them down. Now, it seems like whoever is pouring the syrup is REALLY inconsistent. My shave ice was perfect. Well doused through and through without pooling in the bottom. However my mom's coconut was literally made with maybe a tablespoon of syrup. 80% of the entire ice had no flavor at all, and when we asked about it, they were quite rude saying "you can see some right here". So for that, you're kinda rolling the dice, I suppose. If it's close by, might be worth a shot, but I'd caution driving here form further away since it seems like you don't really know what you'll get. They also charge $0.52 for an extra empty cup, which seems a little chinsy to me.
