I have been on a hunt for good Italian food in the area, let's just say the hunt continues. I had a House Salad w/balsamic vinaigrette, Lasagna, and a few of the extra garlic knots. The salad was good to go, the lasagna not so much it was watery and the temperature was a bit off. The cheese was heavy on one side and light on the other. They serve you some bread, that was good, garlic and buttery rolls. We ordered the tour of Italy and tortellini siciliano. Tour of Italy was good since I couldn't make a decision. The Alfredo was creamy and rich. The chicken Parmesan was good too and the lasagna. It would've liked them a little more separated, so the chicken would stay a little more crispy. I went with the mushroom truffle tagliatelle and it was super rich and earthy. The truffle flavor was definitely noticeable but not too strong, and the mushrooms were sautéed just right. The noodles had great texture and were clearly fresh. Honestly felt like something I'd get at a more upscale place. Service was attentive but not pushy, and our food came out fast. The ambiance was calm and relaxed with soft lighting, which made for a really pleasant evening. Not the cheapest pasta but I think it was worth it for the quality. This is a quaint little restaurant that has great potential. Where we sat there was a picture that was really pretty dirty with not sure what. The young lady who waited on us did her best I believe. The garlic knots where very hard and I doubt fresh. We asked about the Chef's specials and we were informed they were left over from the Mother's Day special. We did order them. We're not local but this was fine for a pinch. I wanted a pasta dish and they certainly had them. The prices were pretty reasonable, limited selection of beer and wine. Take my advice and do not order the wine. For the love of God, if you like wine, don't do it to yourself. I made the mistake of asking for a wine list which offers three selections of reds and white.. Each was $5.00 a glass and I won't knock a house wine, but I should have known after I looked at the little image of the bottle and it said 6% for all varieties. Who the hell even bottles that? I essentially got a glass of apple juice. My husband's Pinot was just a dash less sweet. Not what I was expecting and I didn't drink it. I've never left a glass of wine. The rolls... super good and flaky, more of a garlic knot. No complaints in the bread department. I ordered a Tour of Italy for $16.95 which had Alfredo pasta, chicken parm and lasagna. The food itself was pretty decent, just like a mom would make. My only complaint was that they put the chicken parm on top of the lasagna... kinda smooshed it all over but there was definitely a lot of meat in the meat sauce on the lasagna. The chicken parm was definitely good. My husband ordered the seafood tuttamare which he enjoyed. The white wine sauce had a nice thickness to it... once he got it. The waitress brought him initially spaghetti and meat balls and neither the staff or her were certain what it was. A little concerning but ultimately it came back and was just fine. I enjoyed the food & the service was good enough. My complaint is about the music, it was elevator piano music which played the same song over and over for the hour we were there. I suggest playing some old fashioned Italian music for atmosphere. The 2 sandy, blonds & older ladies (probably sisters), who ran the joint, who were at the door had an unfriendly unwelcoming demeanor energy about them, (how about a smile & hello) they are in the service industry & a welcoming energy (like Cane's for example), helps to bring customers back in. I'll cut right to the chase- we ordered the chicken Parmesan and veal Parmesan. These are usually safe bets but steer clear of these dishes here. The worst I've ever had. They are using frozen, pre-battered chicken breast and a pre-battered veal patty of some sort. I was mistakingly, served the veal and told it was chicken. It looked strange, but I took a bite and could not figure out what I was tasting, but everything about it was very offputting. Then the server walked up with a second dish for my friend and called that chicken Parmesan as well. She had ordered the veal and that's when they figured out they had given me the veal by mistake. I was just about to send it back when they took the plate from me and passed it on to my friend who awkwardly accepted it. I had already cut into the "veal" patty and had taken a bite. This is so unacceptable! The servers were all very sweet, teenage girls, but totally clueless about restaurant service or the menu. We sat outside, which was nice because there was a breeze. Unfortunately, there is nothing redeeming about the Italian Garden in Ocean Springs. There is never an excuse to use a frozen, premade product like that and charge a premium price. I'm so disappointed in my 2nd meal here. The first time, about a year and half ago, I had the best food. They offered gluten free noodles for my spaghetti, and I had the best Italian sausage in marina that practically melted in my mouth. This last time I was informed they no longer carry the gluten free noodles so I just ordered the Italian sausage in marina again. The sauce was completely different and so was the sausage. I took a few bites and couldn't finish it. Even my family that usually orders the same thing every time they go said theirs wasn't the same either and it wasn't very good. Uncheck this one as I had it bookmarked on Yelp. This was our first visit. We arrived early (4:30pm) to avoid a crowd. Upon entering we were the only customers, until we ordered then a few more tables were seated. This is were the issue started, there was only one waitress. I heard her say she was sorry to the table next to us about 5 times as their order was all mixed up. Therefore there was no attention given to us as she tried to fix it, we asked to have our water refilled but that didn't happen. It even took about 10 minutes to get our check once we asked for it. The fried calamari appetizer and complimentary bread was delicious. The veal picatta only had 5 small skinny strips of veal in it. See the attached pic, this was very disappointing given the $15.99 cost. The meat ravioli was mediocre at best. The marinara sauce was on the sweet side, too sweet for our taste buds. Maybe because I had bookmarked this restaurant, I had high hopes for this place. But the poor service made the experience not good. I do understand that everyone has a bad night, and not all experiences are like ours. But the lack of veal in the main entree and the too sweet marinara sauce, we are thinking we will not return. I've eaten here a few times. It's consistently good. Never busy when I was there. Last night I had a quick meal and it was great. The marinara sauce is delicious. But here the real reason for the review. I got a family portion of Chicken Alfredo to go for the family and spilled some of it in the seat of my car (my fault). The owner or manager, not sure, didn't ask, came out and totally cleaned up the mess repackaged the food. How awesome. Food is great and the service was excellent. Recently out of CV19 restrictions on restaurant capacity, this place was packed nearly full tonight. It was kinda nice, really. Starting off, they bring a basket of garlic knots to the table that are as near to perfect as I think possible-Golden brown, warm, buttery-garlic goodness. Of the four appetizers, we chose the calamari. Truly the best I've had anywhere around this area. Silver dollar size cuts that were perfectly breaded so as not to be too thick with terrific seasoning and an umptious red sauce for dipping. Yum! A bit disappointing, however, was the entree. The Tour, a three-item selection of ravioli, manicotti, and lasagna, although tasty, was a bit muddled. Rather than being served on a plate or something with some separation, it's all in one dish slathered with red sauce and cheese. It is good. But with it all together and submerged, I had to guess which one I was eating after loading my fork. The sauce is wonderful in its tomato richness. That almost masks the flavors of the trio resulting in a one-note dish. To emphasize, the food was very good. Slow cooked sauce and fresh ingredients , for sure. Special occasion, wedding anniversary, called for getting dessert. So, with tiramisu as the first on the list, it had to be ordered. Seems only practical. But wow! Just Wow! I've never had a better one. Generous portion and decadent layers. Worth the visit for that alone. Overall, it was very good. Located in a simple, converted home, this is a classic "family style" Italian restaurant. The service is fast and cheerful. The food is wonderful. We had spaghetti with meat balls and meat sauce which was very good and GENEROUS. And, lasagna, which was unlike most similar dishes at other places. I then had the cheese tortellini alla panna, add meatballs. The meatballs were amazing, but the ham was a full on pizza topping-- not chopped, just whole circles, and, unfortunately, the pasta was over done. I will preface this review with I am Sicilian so tough critic. I took picture of appetizer and apparently I forgot to take photos of our entrees. The Italian Sausage appetizer and garlic knots served on table. The appetizer was not bad! Garlic knots a bit dry. My husband has the Tour of Italy (lasagna, fettuccine alfredo & veal parm. He said the Lasagna was not mine (sorry he is spoiled lol). He asked for Veal parm instead of chicken parm and they did it for a small additional cost. Hubby said it was good. My wife and I visited Italian Gardens recently, after having driven past it on several occasions. The dining room is situated directly off the street so that should be considered when taking a seat. The decor is a little dated and harkens back to an earlier time. The service was friendly and somewhat efficient. The food was fresh and very appealing. The baked spinach pasta is an amazing option with no meat! The chicken tuscany was also delicious. I had to interrupt her asking if she could join our "girls night" to ask for a water. We got our waters and ordered our food. We got our food and before she even finished sitting the last plate down she says, "Great now I can finally sit down and join yall!" This made my friends and I very uncomfortable. She sat with us for a few minutes and finally got up after us talking awkwardly around her. I would just reiterate to the service staff that they are the service staff. Sitting down with a table you KNOW for a minute or two is not a problem, but randomly sitting at a table with three girls you don't know is a little off-putting. She constantly kept trying to get us to invite her out by saying "I get off in 30 minutes." We were all just very uncomfortable and did not expect that to be our experience there. We hadn't seen each other in months and this was our first night together to catch up. She was just very intrusive. We wanted something for supper and after the usual long discussion we decided on Italian. Looked up Italian places near us and found the Italian Garden. This is a really nice place. First are their dinner rolls, twisted garlic buttery goodness that are worth the trip alone!! We had fried mozzarella sticks with the Marinella sauce and we knew it was just going to get better. I had spaghetti with sausage and Julie had meatballs, she thought they could be spicier, we ate and ate!! Meat sauce is great, sausage was done just right! Our waitress was super personable food came quick and was hot!! It's clean here and they have a nice little bar in the back.
