Very cool spot, whether you sit at the bar and watch people go by the open air window or opt for the back dining room that has a speakeasy vide. Wonderful lunch today at Field's. Misha was a joy and took great care of us, insuring modifications were made to accommodate my wife's IBS: we split a very nice house salad, omitting the artichoke hearts from my wife's because Misha recognized they were marinated in an oil with garlic powder, then my wife had perfectly cooked scallops simply with butter and lemon over GF pasta. She said it was delicious. While I had the seafood scampi over squid ink pasta, which was excellent, well seasoned and not too rich. We shared a very nice bottle of Italian red, taking near half a bottle home with us. The restaurant itself is attractive and comfortable, though very quiet on a Tuesday. Tab was just over $100. Oh no....I so wanted this dinner to be memorable in a good way. The entire experience was just barely okay! The waitress missed several execution items that could've made this experience at least 3 stars. Items such as not picking up appetizer dishes before the main entrees showed up, not refilling water glasses, and simply not checking on us until we were almost done eating. Once I ordered the crab stuffed mushroom appetizer, I flipped the menu over to read that the crab was imported. This restaurant is literally 2 miles from the Gulf of America! The squid ink pasta used in the seafood scampi was a huge miss, it was very overpowering. The veal parmesan was okay at best. The waitress kept apologizing for the scampi...saying it wasn't a favorite on the menu but then never told us in the beginning. To top it off, the 3% credit card surcharge and extra Ocean Springs tax stung a little when I reviewed our receipt. read more

First off the ambience of this place was very cool. This place had a speakeasy vibe. The restaurant is completely separated from the main bar. Now for the food, the food was OK at best. The specials for a Tuesday were pretty good. $12 for any sandwich I had the veal Parmesan which I wasn't a fan of. The veal. was an extremely thin piece of meat with about 1 inch of breading covering it. There were two huge pieces, and I removed all the breading to unveil a thinly sliced piece of veal. About 2 inches in length. My buddies had the surf and turf ravioli, which was good according to them. This place was just OK for me... Check this place out you might like it. read more

Mamma Mia! What a great restaurant experience! We rolled in (5 of us) on a Wed night, and were seated right away. The booths have dividers that go floor to ceiling, and drapes on the front. We basically had our own private dining room! The Wed special was all Flatbreads for $12. Three of us ordered them: Funghi (mushrooms) Peppered pig, and Carne (various meats). They were perfectly cooked, and we could've easily split 2 between us. We also shared a Caesar salad that was tasty. The other two shared an order of eggplant Parmesan, and it was huge! For desert we enjoyed the Tiramisu. Our total bill was very reasonable too! We all had water, and one person ordered a soda. All in all, wonderful service and food wrapped up in a cozy intimate setting. I can't wait to go back! read more

We live in the heart of downtown OS and were so excited to get a reservation to check out the newest restaurant, Fields Italian. We got there at 630 for our reservation and were taken to our seats in the back! The front is open seating with a huge bar, I think we will sit out there next time because the atmosphere is contagious, pretty much every seat was taken. Our waitress was quick to greet us and get our drink order. We didn't try any of the specialty drinks but maybe next time. We ordered a Caesar for an app and the fried mozzarella! Both fantastic. The salad had fried cheese croutons and you can tell the dressing was made from scratch. The Mozzarella was served with a hot honey and sweet marinara!! A great starter. Main entree- I got the classic spaghetti and meatballs and it was great, their sauce is so good! My husband got the veal parmesan,m and just look at the picture it was HUGE. He said it was so good. I will say everything came out perfectly time, we may have waited 10 min for apps and then 10 min for main entree and they were steaming hot, so the kitchen seems to run very efficiently! I came here with a very large group and they were very accommodating. The menu was arranged for us when we got there and you really couldn't go wrong with any of the choices. They made it simple for us to order drinks and pay our own tab (which I know can be annoying for 17 people). The portion size was great. Will be back if I return to Ocean Springs. read more

Tiny tinny little lamb chops for $36. No pic of the calamari but they were tiny and few and way too crunchy. It's a couple asparagus spears somewhere in there. The mint leaves paired with it were gross. That nasty sauce was salty. The chops had no flavor. Very expensive and disappointing. Spent 55$ for entree, appetizer and water. I personally sent my gross food back. The crab stuffed mushrooms were bland and gross. The mushrooms were old tasting. It was expensive with very very small portions. Definitely not worth it. The other person ate it because of diabetic reasons. This restaurant is a glorified watering hole for drunks who don't care about food quality or taste. Great service. Nice looking place. read more

We love Field's! It's about time we get a good Italian restaurant in OS. We have tried the Fried Burrata, Fried Mozzarella and the Tomato Tartare on the apps and all were really good. On the entree list, we have tried the Cacio E Pepe, Spicy Rigatoni(veggie option) and the Alfredo. All of these were delicious. We have not eaten in the dinning room, but the bar area is great. You can get a view of OS, sit at the bar or one of the high tops. The bartenders are awesome. Dustin and Nicey are out favorites, but we haven't had bad service there from anyone. read more

This was one of my favorite places in ocean springs. In fact my friend and I stopped by 3 times. Twice for drinks and once for dinner. The first 2 times we stopped in at the bar. I loved the espresso martini here. The bartender stayed engaged with us and all the guest at the bar. We enjoyed the view from being inside. I stayed with a big smile on my face because of the espresso martini. My friend had a variety of drinks. For dinner I had lasagna. It was very tasty and flavorful. We truly enjoyed our server. I wish we read the reviews before we came. Our server was MIA for the majority of our meal. We had to flag down a few other workers (server and a hostess) to get water refills, a drink menu, and to see if our food could be corrected and heated up. I just looked thru other reviews and my husband's gnocchi dish did NOT look remotely the same as someone posted a few weeks ago. The first time it came out there were very few pieces of meat, the "gnocchi" were huge globs, and the entire dish was cold. My squid ink pasta was so salty.. not edible.. and the sauce was a watery/salty soup. I ate two bites and we waited around 15 minutes while everyone was doing their side work/closing up to go home before we got someone's attention. When the dishes were remade, they came out completely different and actually hot and tasty. We were told the manager was going to come out and he never did. We finally got our bill and we noticed that she charged us twice for one of the entrees. When we brought it to her attention she asked us "oh do you want me to take one off" ....???? Yes? lol. Very strange. For two drinks, an appetizer, and two entrees, the total was $120. This was such an unfortunate experience for what was supposed to be a special date night. read more

Our service was great, actually outstanding. I wish I could say the same for the food. What was good was the lamb kibbeh. Their hummus is good, but hummus shouldn't be something that's rated at a restaurant of this quality in caliber. I may just as good hummus at home. We also ordered the Toglia Bolognese and that was OK nothing special. And last, but not least we ordered two different flatbreads and they were really disappointing. Misha was our server and she had outstanding customer service! I started off with coffee and it was the best coffee I have had in a long time on a beautiful setting. I got the meatball sandwich and the homemade chips that were absolutely delicious! My granddaughter got the chicken ranch hoagie and she loved it. My daughter got the eggplant Parmesan sandwich and my son-in-law got fried calamari and a huge salad with artichokes. They both enjoyed their meals as well. The restaurant has a very calming atmosphere, beautifully decorated with comfortable seating and great music overhead playing The special that day was lamb chops with mint and sides for only $15 and now I will have to go back on Tuesday for that special. The crème brûlée was out of this world as well! I highly recommend you try Fields on government Street in Ocean Springs. You will find it to be an amazing experience. read more

I had dinner here recently with an old friend. Neither of us had been so it was an experience for all of us. First of all, the space is very deceiving. You walk in and see the bar and the host stand. The bar isn't very big but even at opening, it was quite busy. The main dining room is behind the host stand, behind a door. The dining room is a very interesting and eclectic choice of decor. A number of 'private' booths with a 'leather' curtain but in lieu of booths or banquets, it's 6-8 top tables. The price range on this menu is somewhat spendy for Italian. $7 for bread service, sourdough with a compound butter and olive oil is somewhat rich. The portions are huge so there is that. The menu and pricing style is akin to a traditional steakhouse. Meaning that not all dishes are served with protein but you can add to it. Also, entrees come with zero side dishes aside of maybe pasta. This will likely turn folks off. We shared the bread service and it was good but $7 good? Probably not. My friend got the veal parm and it came with TWO cutlets that took up the entire plate. His daughter had spaghetti and meatballs and it came with two large meatballs on a huge bed of pasta. I had the pesto rigatoni and it was quite nice as it also had artichoke hearts. I added fried chicken to it for $6 or $8, that brought my plate to a total of $28. Again, spendy for what it is yet not knocking the execution, flavor or quality. Our server was quite nice and it was refreshing to see so many younger staff members so engaged. The service ran like a machine. There were a few small things observed but they persevered. We also shared tiramisu, which was quite nice but a little more chocolatey than 'traditional'. Again, not complaining as much as noting. I also ordered the pudding and it didn't come out initially and when I asked our server, she apologized profusely. Sadly, she had already dropped the check and when my friend inquired, she informed us that she was taking care of it as it was her mistake. That is a HUGE win regarding service. I'll definitely recommend folks to this place and hopefully will return again while on the coast. read more

The bar area has a fun downtown OS atmosphere to it. My husband and I sat @ the bar. It was a busy night, but we were able to sit comfortably together. Side note if you want to sit in the main dining room it is recommended you make a reservation. The bartender was very attentive and got our drinks right away. We ordered the Amalfi Sun Drop & Sambuca Sazerac first. Both drinks were delicious and well made. We ordered the Fried Burrata for an app. The burrata was fried crispy topped w/ vodka sauce and fresh basil. I literally wiped the plate clean with the bread it came with, the sauce was that good! Our entrees were the "spicy" Rigatoni A La Vodka & Chicken Parm Sandwich w/ "truffle" parm fries. Both meals speaks for themselves, delish. Only things we weren't to impressed with were the "Truffle" parm fries missing that signature truffle taste. But the fries were crispy and fresh. Then the spiciness missing in the vodka sauce. We noticed the Fungi Flatbread & had to order. Another 10/10 it was Alfredo-y, garlic-y, mushroom-y goodness! We had plenty of leftovers. We finished the meal off with the Godfather & the Aviation cocktails. The Godfather was perfectly paired, bourbon-y banana. The Aviation was more on the floral side which I normally prefer, but this cocktail was a bit too over bearing for me. We will definitely be back to try more dishes out! I would definitely recommend to anybody on the Gulf Coast looking for an Italian experience. read more

The food was excellent. I had the eggplant Parmesan and it was as good as grandma's. Very good sized portions - loved the leftovers. Tiramisu for dessert was to die for and the service was perfect. My one and only complaint was the actual seating. They have this ugly and extremely uncomfortable brown banquette seating along one wall. After only a couple of minutes of sitting my back was killing me. Luckily my son switched seats with me. They really need to do something about this. We are there and I was astonished that long hair swishing on food, glasses etc is allowed. I find it unsanitary. The service was passable. We were doubly charged for our meal which has not been refunded at this time. We were kind enough to close out each bill with each server to give them a good tip. Stopped into this cute bistro during a town carshow. Cute and comfortable venue. We sat at the bar area. Our bartender was friendly and professional. We had the margherita flatbread which was flavorful and delicious. Nice amount of sauce, cheese and olives along with herbs. The meatballs were excellent! We really enjoyed this place, especially the beautiful bar area. They are still working out some of the kinks. I believe this is a fairly new restaurant. The veal Parmesan was excellent, so was the fettuccine Alfredo. We loved the fried burratta appetizer, although it was cold in the middle. Service was ok. This is an Italian restaurant. BUT, they do not serve bread - except if you request it. Then, it's by the slice - and you are charged extra. And - it is just sliced bread. With no dipping sauce or butter - except if you request the butter. Not sure if we are being charged for it. Ordered wine - no Cabernet!!! They were out of it. Sweet waitress, Natalie. Good service. The 2 stars is definitely for the food. It is quite possibly the slowest service I have ever had. The people that brought me there said it was slow the previous time so I don't think it was unique to last night. It was a Thursday night, so not overly crowded. It was difficult to get a glass of wine because they have a very limited selection. For instance, only two cabs on the menu. Only one of those by the glass and they were out of it. So if you wanted to have a Cabernet you have to spend, it either 80 or $90 on a bottle. The food was OK. Three stars. We ordered three appetizers. We got cheese sticks, which were really good. Calamari which was really not. It was mostly breading and under done breading at that. Additionally, it was served with tartar sauce and it didn't go. We were using the marinara sauce from the cheese sticks. It didn't help. We also ordered bread and butter. There was more butter than bread. There were 3 micro thin slices of bread, over toasted, with three types of butter. When you put them side-by-side with the other appetizers, which were huge it really made no sense. So one of the three appetizers was really good. We ordered an eggplant Parm, the chicken, Parm, and a chopped Italian salad. We also ordered one side salad. The side salad was strange. It had sun-dried tomatoes and artichokes and a pile of cheese. It was dried Parmesan maybe and a lot of of it. It didn't have any onion or regular tomatoes so then I understood why my niece who had been there before ordered no tomatoes on her salad. Comparing the eggplant Parm and the chicken Parm the eggplant Parm, which is also fried was blonde and the chicken Parm was really dark brown. The same cooks obviously did not cook those. But they were both good. The cocktails were so tiny. They were the smallest cocktails I have ever seen in my life. I had wine and I thought the pour was short. I saw a couple of glasses of wine go out that were betterpours. That always frustrates me but my companions had cocktails and they were just so tiny. It was a two hour dinner. If the ambience had been nice, maybe it would've been more enjoyable. But it is literally the weirdest ambience I've ever seen. There is a very small front area with wallpaper that is a sea of pink leaves. A bar and a couple of high top tables. You have to go through a door into a very dark corridor that leads into a very dark back room. Only half of the lighting was working; my claustrophobia was definitely triggered. I think the private booths are a mistake. The walls are a dark blue almost black with no kind of decor. So back to that service. It was excruciating. So OK food, horrible decor, super slow service. I wish them lots of luck. I personally would not go back. If I'm going to drop two or $300 on a dinner, I want top notch service and a nice surrounding. read more
