Field's Italian is easily one of the best restaurants on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Every dish we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The pasta was outstanding, the portions were generous, and the service was attentive from start to finish. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and perfect for a date night, family dinner, or special occasion. If you're looking for authentic Italian food in Pass Christian, this is a must-visit. The food was not good at all. I ordered chicken Piccata and it looked nothing like it. The chicken looked more like calamari. We asked for a remake and it came out and didn't look any better or more appealing! Side note: The Garlic bread was pitiful. The service was also terrible. We waited for 20 minutes for a SERVER to come to the table and give us waters, after we reminded them we were there. They also kept bringing stuff we requested out late and would bring it twice almost like they didn't communicate the orders/request with one another. The food has great potential, but the entrees are painfully bland. I would still choose their Italian food over Salute, but I shouldn't have to ask for salt. The sauces are almost there, but are lacking the real Italian flavor that should be leaving patrons begging for more despite how full they are. While the food is not bad, the lack in flavor is quite disappointing, especially given how great Field's Steak and Oyster bar is in the Bay. They know what's good, they know that going the extra mile makes a difference. The Field's standard is not met with their Italian dishes yet. I have hope. read more

We are Field's fans so it was not a surprise that we loved this latest place! First of all, it's in a cool location. We sat outside and enjoyed harbor views and plenty of parking nearby on the street. The space is quaint and intimate. Reservations are easy to make through resy or the restaurant's website. Our server, Glen, made our experience top-notch. Glen is knowledgeable and very friendly and he made us feel like family. The drinks are fantastic. I enjoyed a refreshing Hugo Spritz and my companion tried the Gimlet and both were excellent. I had the lasagna gnocchi as my meal and it was superb. The meal was an excellent portion and it was bursting with flavor. My companion had the veal Parmesan and he loved it. His portion was massive!! Came for the food, stayed for the service -- and we'll definitely be back! My husband and I started with the bread & butter and fried mozzarella. Let me just say: have you ever seen mozzarella this big?! Each piece was practically the size of a mini brick -- we could only manage one each before saving room for our mains. I went with the chicken piccata, and it was absolutely delicious. The citrusy zing in the pasta really stood out -- super vibrant and fresh. It wasn't my husband's thing, but that worked out just fine because he was too busy devouring his spicy rigatoni a la vodka with pan-fried chicken. He really enjoyed the slight spicy kick. Unfortunately, they do not have a dessert menu. Fortunately, we were full. Portions here are generous, to say the least. Thankfully, our sweet and attentive server, Jasmine, packed up our leftovers with care. She was incredibly patient and kind, and truly made us feel welcome from start to finish. We dined indoors, where the restaurant's interior was beautifully decorated. Next time, we're hoping to snag a table on the patio -- it overlooks the ocean and, at the right time, a sunset view. I've have had dinner at Field's Italian on four different occasions. I've experienced the consistency, service and cleanliness decline. We have dined in the dining room and at the bar area, service is hit and miss, especially at the bar. Appetizers and entrées are not consistent with that is listed on the menu, you'll have to request what was not delivered with the item. Service is lacking, always need to ask for a refill of beverages, and associates are out of uniform (sweatshirts, logo attire from other establishments), no clue who works there. The cleanliness of Fields is awful, if it's dirty in the public areas, I can only imagine what it's like in the kitchen!! I wanted to give Field's a chance especially in the grand opening phase, but it has only gotten worse. I won't be back until the above changes in a positive way!! read more

We were there on a beautiful Sunday evening a month ago. There was nothing laudable about this restaurant except our server who is kind and merited the extra star. Otherwise, food was cold, it took forever to get to our table, wine was inordinately expensive with pours not reaching a few shallow ounces. They charged $22 to add colossal crab meat (without word of the cost) to a pasta which was lacking in flavor at base line. All tables were delayed and the manager was consistently coming to apologize for reasons I'm not privy to. A disheartening experience. read more

So this new addition to Pass Christian is still finding it rhythm for second service on Saturday BUT here is why You should try it today! First up we arrived no reservation and were accommodated with a wonderfully perfect table for the two of us. Inside however outside seating is available and the evening in this area is actually very pleasant. Glen was our server. Gave great suggestions and pairings advice, like him right away. We ordered meatballs and fried burrata as apps along with The Godfather and a glass of wine ( light body red) Glen suggested both. Apps were delicious and my cocktail was very much like the description Smokey sweet and with a touch of rye. The wine was delightful. Rigatoni with artichoke was her dish mine was the Eggplant Parm. Both pastas were said to be made in house and was perfectly cooked. I would say I liked her sauce light and flavorful. Mine was a heavier robust tomato sauce. The eggplant was excellent. Beautiful and thick yet cooked so they still had a bit if crisp. Both very satisfying and delicious. Potions were generous yet not wasteful. We did pack up just a portion to share with our son and to not over indulge. Staff from David to greeters and of course Glen were wonderful, pleasant and fun. All in all a great experience. As to my first statement timing was a little long between courses. This is not a problem as I loved my company but as they refine their process it will certainly improve. We had a 5:15 reservation at Fields Italian and asked for a table that wasn't too close to others or overly noisy. They totally got it right, calm vibe, great view, and a comfortable spot to relax. Our server, Jasmine, was a gem. She was super friendly, confident with the menu, and just easy to talk to. I had red wine, my husband had white, and both came out fast. We shared the calamari appetizer, and it was excellent. My husband's incredibly picky about calamari, and even he said it was the best he's had in a while with light batter, fresh oil, perfect crunch. He ordered the veal Parmesan, which came out hot, flavorful, and huge. I meant to order the lobster ravioli but ended up with the seafood scampi in squid ink pasta instead and wow, what a delicious mistake! It was so good I refused to send it back. Both Jasmine and Manager Robert were so apologetic (unnecessarily, really), and even Danla the bartender came over to say hello. Just an all-around friendly, welcoming crew. Prices were very reasonable for the area, and the atmosphere struck the perfect balance. It was not loud or stuffy, just nice. Ordered the carpaccio...was told by waiter that he heard them making it when he arrived. was told later they had no carpaccio. ordered the crab/mushrooms...big mistake. Then ordered the scallops. They were tiny...just like the mushrooms. The risotto was good but there was no toasted prosciutto topping or it was minuscule. My friend had the chicken parmesan. Portion was huge and seemed good. I was excited to try the new restaurant in Pass Christian. I love the original restaurant in Bay St. Louis, sorely disappointed in the service and the food I won't be back. The girl who was the hostess had no idea how busy she was. No one came to check on us for quite some time and when they did, it took them forever to come back with drinks on top of that the food was subpar at Best my soup was cold. Had to send it back twice so sad and everything there looks so esoteric around it. They had a nice speciality cocktail menu and decent wine selection for the area, but their liquor choices were a little thin and pricey. Two martinis were $38.00. My husband loved his meal, spaghetti and meatballs. Mine was fettuccini with chicken and bacon. When I told waitress there wasn't any bacon in it, she just shrugged her shoulders. When I asked to have the charge for bacon taken off she acted like I was asking for a free meal. I was impressed. We had dinner (two couples) yesterday (Saturday) evening at Fields Italian restaurant here in the Pass. The build-out of this restaurant is very nice. We sat outside, with the weather being nice, the music was good, the table was nice, the cutlery and plates nice, and in general, we had high expectations. The menu looked good, and the server was very pleasant. We started by order a bottle of wine for three of us. The server brought the wine to the table, but could not open it. Another staff member was able to open it for her, which was fine. She then drained the bottle by filling our three glasses, which was very odd, and then shortly after she asked if I wanted to order more wine. Certainly she had not been trained to serve wine, or maybe this is management's way to encourage a second bottle before dinner. Then before we had even tasted the wine, a gentleman came out of the restaurant and although he did not introduce himself, by name or position, he came to our table. We assumed he was the manager on duty that evening. He asked us how everything was in terms of the food and service. Again, this was a bit odd in that we had not been severed anything, so we said the we had just been seated and received our menus. He then said he hoped we will enjoy. Before ordering, I asked our server which pasta was made in-house. She said all the pasta was home made. I asked her if she was sure, because when I walked by earlier this week, I asked, one of the staff and they told me that their pasta maker was currently out of order, so they could not make much pasta. The server said she would find out, and when she came back she said it was still broken and that only the ink squid linguine was fresh pasta now. My wife and I ordered; the Italian Chopped Salad, the crab stuffed mushrooms, and the ink squid linguine seafood scampi. The Italian Chopped salad was by far the best thing served. It was really too big even for two people, but it was fresh and had good flavor. This Fields uses the method of ordering from your server, then a staff from the kitchen brings out the plates from the kitchen and asks who order what, then hands it across the table to you. Having an opportunity to get some fresh cracked pepper or what ever would have been nice, but that is not how they work the serving here. The next two items were the ink squid seafood scampi. Ordering the fresh pasta wound up being a big mistake. Rather than being the star of the dish, it was severely over cooked (fresh pasta is 2 to 3 min to be al dente), but this was so overcooked it broke into little 2 inch pieces and was tasteless. The sauce would have been ok if the pasta was decent. The dish was huge, so if you like volume rather than quantity, you may have found this ok. Again, the dishes for all four of us are brought to the table by a runner from the kitchen, and we are asked who ordered what, and then the plates are handed across the table. The crab stuffed mushrooms were also very poor. They looked like small baby-bella mushrooms from a grocery chain, with a small dab of crab mix, that were then over cooked so they looked dried out, and then they put them in what looked like a type of alfredo sauce. Unfortunately for us, the ones served to us were cold. Again, there is no server to even talk to about the meals once they are delivered. Since we did not eat all that was served we were asked if we wanted to take the food home, which we declined. When you get your bill, they present it with three suggested tips; 20%, 22% or 25%. The server was a nice young lady, but she appeared to no proper training. Running the food out from the kitchen like a chain restaurant is fine, but the server should be there to assist, and to at the very least put the plate down, ensure you have utensils, if anything is needed, or if there is an issue. None of that happens. Other than dropping by, without identifying himself after we first sat down to see us (before we received any service), the Manager made no attempt to check on us. We were really looking forward and thinking we may finally have a nice restaurant in the Pass, but despite the real nice facility, good menu, beautiful evening, both the food quality and service were hugely disappointing. On top of that, the expected tip levels are on par with a much higher quality restaurant where you get good service.
