From the outside, it looks like a dump

Italian Garden is nothing but a simple roadside restaurant serving up completely Americanized Italian and Greek foods. What you get here is nothing like what you will find in Italy of Greece. From the outside the place looks run down and in fact is run down. It doesn't at all look like the place you'd want to go into to eat, but once you get inside, it's a different story. It has a rather comfortable décor about it and with what seems a mom & pop friendly type of atmosphere. I think its popularity may most be due to the fact that within the Winnsboro are there are very few restaurants with most of them not very good at all. But to go Five Stars on the place, as some have done, boarders upon the ludicrous. I've eaten here several times, having had there veal parmigiana, eggplant parmigiana and a meat ravioli dish. All the dishes were very much Americanized but I found them all decent enough, though even for a roadside restaurant, I've had far better. But though I've had better, I'm going A-OK Three Stars on the place as it is one of the better places Winnsboro has and because their service was so friendly, pleasant and nice. And one thing for sure is that you can't beat the prices which I found to be exceptionally low.

Incredible Greek Chicken Salad! I put honey mustard dressing on mine!:)

So not a place you would think would be good. But for Winnsboro, it was not bad. Actually consistently good. Recommend

The chef and owner, Vinnie, is an authentic Italian cook and cares about the dining experience of each and every patron, thus RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED!!! It's definitely worth it as the dining experience rivals pretty much any other you have experienced. Meals are freshly prepared in view of the customers and the same day market staples experience only adds to the special atmosphere. Each menu item is prepared with love and attention so you get a better plated meal than could ever be represented on the menu. Vinnie does have a small staff so although you get special treatment, it might take a slight bit longer than normal but it is worth the wait. I cannot say enough about how good the food is or how much Vinnie cares about your individual satisfaction but once you experience it you will definitely come away impressed. Sure, the interior is a little drab and outdated, but clean and maintained. A glance at the menu gives you hope, as there is quite a selection of tasty dishes, described to the T, leaving nothing to the imagination. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi over linguini, my wife, the Linguini with Clam Sauce, and my oldest daughter, the Chicken Marsala. Our salads came out first. Nicely put together greens and veggies, with the best tasting balsamic vinagrette ive ever tasted. Next came our appetizer, the Potato Skins. Very well prepared, steaming hot, fresh and delicious. Smothering in cheese and bacon pieces. Finally, out came our main courses. Beautifully prepared, steaming hot, freshly prepared FROM SCRATCH, and a perfect portion. As i spun my fork into the first taste, my excitement was overwhelming. I've been in the south for 4 years, and have had nothing but disappointment from just about every "italian" restaurant ive been to. Until now. I put the fork in my mouth, my eyes opened widely, my taste buds jumped, and the hair on the back of my neck stood straight up. Had i just tasted that right? My God, that was the best italian dish ive had in a LONG time. I loaded my fork again, and again, in relief. After that, i had to try a mouthful of my wife and daughters meals, all exactly as well prepared. That Shrimp Scampi was the best ive tasted, ever. By far. Even being from the italian epicenter of the northeast (New Haven, CT- Wooster Street) I was shockingly impressed. I have found my new italian restaurant of choice. Italian Garden, you are my new best friends. I cannot wait to try the pizza, and all the other delectible dishes advertized on your vast menu. And the prices? The Shrimp Scampi was $12.99. You'd pay more than that at Olive Garden, and well...its Olive Garden.
