From the outside, it looks like a dump

Italian Garden is nothing but a simple roadside restaurant serving up completely Americanized Italian and Greek foods. What you get here is nothing like what you will find in Italy of Greece. From the outside the place looks run down and in fact is run down. It doesn't at all look like the place you'd want to go into to eat, but once you get inside, it's a different story. It has a rather comfortable décor about it and with what seems a mom & pop friendly type of atmosphere. I think its popularity may most be due to the fact that within the Winnsboro are there are very few restaurants with most of them not very good at all. But to go Five Stars on the place, as some have done, boarders upon the ludicrous. I've eaten here several times, having had there veal parmigiana, eggplant parmigiana and a meat ravioli dish. All the dishes were very much Americanized but I found them all decent enough, though even for a roadside restaurant, I've had far better. But though I've had better, I'm going A-OK Three Stars on the place as it is one of the better places Winnsboro has and because their service was so friendly, pleasant and nice. And one thing for sure is that you can't beat the prices which I found to be exceptionally low.

Incredible Greek Chicken Salad! I put honey mustard dressing on mine!:)

So not a place you would think would be good. But for Winnsboro, it was not bad. Actually consistently good. Recommend

The chef and owner, Vinnie, is an authentic Italian cook and cares about the dining experience of each and every patron, thus RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED!!! It's definitely worth it as the dining experience rivals pretty much any other you have experienced. Meals are freshly prepared in view of the customers and the same day market staples experience only adds to the special atmosphere. Each menu item is prepared with love and attention so you get a better plated meal than could ever be represented on the menu. Vinnie does have a small staff so although you get special treatment, it might take a slight bit longer than normal but it is worth the wait. I cannot say enough about how good the food is or how much Vinnie cares about your individual satisfaction but once you experience it you will definitely come away impressed. The pasta sauces are awesome and help to properly accentuate whatever protein you choose so feel free to experiment a bit and get out of your comfort zone, you might find a new favorite. This is one of my favorite places to eat and I cant say enough good things, so just "try it, you'll like it (a lot).

I went off the usual rails of what I got there to some extent. Their 2 piece scallops (ordered "as an app") is always a solid decision. They would be wise to put it or another iteration on the app menu. I was wanting a fish entree, and decided to try the trout, as I wasn't feeling pasta. The scallops as an app were amazing, as always, and I expected that to be the highlight of the evening. The trout blew my mind in its flavor and presentation. Far more than I would have thought. Pan seared trout, shaved Brussel sprouts and mushrooms and pancetta with dill cream sauce EXCEEDED my expectations. Brussels are not typically anything I would laud, let alone rave about. But the bed of shaved Brussels with a skin on trout was an absolutely perfect pairing that almost made me want to do it all again that very same night. Brussels are typically boiled mushy or oven roasted, and I always saw them to be limited in flavor profiles.. But the nutty flavor they brought to this dish changed my mind on this vegetable potential. The skin of the trout was crunchy, but amazing. The Brussels were delicate and soft with so much flavor. The sauce on top was a perfect pairing. I was blown away that I had been to this establishment 100+ times and never tried this dish, which I will happily add to the rotation. I typically don't do dessert here, but decided to try the apple crostata. The flavor was amazing. The portion was for two, my waistline now wishes there was a declaration or option of for two or for one when ordered. Overall, I highly recommend the trout with shaved Brussels. Their scallops are consistently good. Their bar waitstaff can be stand-off ish if you aren't a local that lives across the street, but in this instance the waitstaff catered to all, not just the locals. I will keep travinia in my rotation.

We were seated near the bar area, and it was extremely smoky, which made the dining experience uncomfortable for me. On a positive note, our waitress was very friendly, attentive, and answered all of our questions. My spritz was good, and I also enjoyed the calamari appetizer. Unfortunately, the lobster ravioli was extremely salty--to the point that I couldn't really enjoy the dish. Between the smoky atmosphere and the entrée, I left a little disappointed. I'm not sure this is somewhere I would visit again.

I would say you are a mid-size town café. I come to this conclusion because you don't get some very basic culinary fundamentals to call it an Italian Restaurant. Pre-cooking pasta is okay if you do it properly. Biggest point: there was no salt in the water while cooking the pasta. This is a must to add flavor; otherwise, it is very bland and tastes overcooked. Batch cooking pasta is done at 65% cooked, proportioned, and refrigerated. Then, when a customer orders it, you drop it into "Salted Boiling Water" to finish cooking it. Next, you can use frozen meatballs as long as you put them in spaghetti sauce at least 12 hours beforehand, so they don't have a frozen meat taste. Follow these suggestions, and it will quickly become a number-one seller as long as it stays reasonably priced. Last point: clean up the flea-market look in your dining room. There has to be a better layout that doesn't have a huge tub of Lance Crackers as your first impression. The help was friendly. The Food was hot.
