I ordered takeout from this place, including a calzone, canoli, and some wings. The wings were a little over done, but not bad. The canoli was fairly mediocre. Where they fell down, though, was on my calzone. I was excited to find a nearby place that offered them, and ordered it stuffed with cheeses and meats. At first bite, it was good, though perhaps a bit salty. As I got into the core of it, though, a big problem emerged. The filing was cold. The cheese was still in chunks. It wasn't just not melted, it was cold. Aside from being gross, it's kinda a food safety issue to not be cooked, guys. The microwave sorted it, but I shouldn't have to cook my takeout. I ordered delivery from IK because I am sick and the closest pizza delivery to me didn't listen to my extra sauce request last time so I wanted to try something new. I ordered the small meat lovers with extra sauce and the side of spinach/feta triangles. I rewarmed the pizza in my air fryer because it cooled off on the drive (very cold night, kinda long drive) and I was pretty happy with it. They indeed put the extra sauce on and it is a good robust sauce like I prefer. Their crust is thick in the way that American pizza chains usually are, but it was a good crust. I prefer thin crust personally but this one was just fine, not heavy or doughy, had good texture. The toppings were fine too. I like the spinach triangles, they were less tangy than I expected ie more spinach, less feta. They go well with the marinara that comes with which is a sweeter sauce than the pizza sauce. All in all, a solid generic American style pizza better than your chain delivery options, but not up there with the craft pizzas. I live down the street from Italian Kitchen and I'm always happy to make the trip. The pizza is very good, always have a great amount of options for toppings and sauces. They also do have great panini's and Calzones. The pasta dishes are fair or good but not at the level of the pizza. I grab meatloaves pizza or Hawaiian normally. This is a review of the service. The Pizza is always good. I ordered an X-Large Italian pizza using their website. I received email confirmation . Walked over to pick it up and when we got home, opened the box to discover that it was plain cheese.I called and explained what happened. I was put on hold twice and was told they couldn't find the order number. My partner walked back with the pizza. The person I spoke to on the phone told him no one had called. They've always had less than stellar service, sometimes locked doors so you can't pick up your order, and the pizza is never ready on time, but the food is good so we kept going back. Never again. Not completely terrible this can be improved in so many ways: Roasted garlic needs to be cooked longer. Roasted garlic and portabella pizza needs some sort of sauce...it is dry. You are still not going the whole way to the perimeter with ingredients..this is wasteful and no one wants 2 inches of crust on an expensive pizza. Please don't piss off the customers. The pizza sticks only had one small sauce for 7 sticks...ridiculous. The chocolate cake was stale (I have to admit I ate it anyway). I believe in you! Bruschetta was delicious with fresh tomato and Parmesan, oil , basil and garlic. Large portion as well. 2. Manicotti was so flavorful with ricotta and mozzarella and a few other cheeses. Good things do come in small packages! This nuovo compact Italian restaurant really packs a punch! I came here with five friends to try a variety of their offerings. To start, the apps are where it's at! Their brushetta is petite, but packed with garlicky flavor. Get this! Pass on the ordinary mozzarella sticks, and overcooked (maybe it was just ours) spinach pies. The spinach pies were good, but five tiny pies for $6.99 is too pricy. And what's up with restaurants always giving five pieces in their appetizer orders? Even numbers rule! Another app you'll want to savor is their wings. Deliciousness! Just the right amount of kick with the Buffalo version. We also had two entrees the carnivores amongst me loved: the meatball calzone and the beef cannoli. For me though, it was the pizzas, that every veggie would love: the portobello with caramelized onions and roasted garlic, and the Prima with artichoke hearts, caramelized onions, goat cheese, and spinach. I've been eating from Italian kitchen on U since 2018 and it's one of my favorite spots for a quick bite during late nights. Of course when I found out they had a location in silver spring (closer to where I live) I was excited... well, not so much after the service I received. They forgot to pack my 20 piece wing order... and had the audacity and the effrontery to have an attitude when I called them back. I had to drive BACK from Potomac to Silver Spring. Ordered delivery and it came fairly quickly. So I can't speak to the atmosphere of the restaurant or their waitstaff. I ordered a white pizza, a cannoli and a sprite. I was super craving the cannoli. And I will say I am a pretty picky person when it comes to white pizza. I love the kind where the EVOO drips off of it. This was not that kind of white pizza unfortunately. This one had a very bland alfredo sauce as the base. It needed spice. Some pepper, parsley, Italian seasoning. Something! The cannoli was also lack luster. Not enough chocolate chips. The cookie/shell thing was a bit soggy in some places - which is probably because of delivery - and the filling wasn't sweet enough. The sprite was kind of cool because it was a glass bottle. Only I don't have a bottle opener so that was kind of a pain the ass and the bottles seemed smaller then a usual plastic bottle of soda. Maybe I'd venture in to see if it was better in the restaurant but probably not. If your going to deliver it should be the same as in the restaurant. Or at least that's my feeling. read more

Ultra modern upon walking in! Nice and spacious with very bright lighting. We were greeted warmly and the cashier happily provided suggestions and tips on her favorite dishes! We were all craving lasagna so (3) orders of beef lasagna and (1) spaghetti with meatballs to go with an order of spinach dip while we wait. Spinach dip: Here I was expecting the standard spinach dip and chips but much to my surprise it was on a full bed of spring mix with a few pieces of bread. The dip itself was insanely good--the ingredients tasted so fresh. 7/10 Spaghetti & Meatballs: 6/10 we did have to add additional seasoning, meatballs were dry and a faint taste of burnt. Noodles were perfectly done. Lasagna: 7/10 generous portion with great well distributed layers. The sauce was a tad on the saltier side. Garlic bread was sooooo bomb. This place is awesome. I ordered from Uber eats (I can't wait until they leave the option to tip the staff at the restaurant). My fiancé and I were both beat after work and he said he was craving spaghetti and meatballs. It arrived piping hot still- and delicious. I had the chicken Alfredo which was also awesome and we split a Greek salad- all fresh. I recommend 100% and will definitely be a future patron. Thank you Italian Kitchen! They do not play around with the parm! The Bruschetta Bella Napoli is covered with so much parm that one can not distinguish the bread nor tomatoes that lie underneath. Once you promenade through the parm, you'll find a masterfully seasoned bruschetta sitting on near perfectly cooked toast: everything that good bruschetta should be. Spinach and Feta triangles arrived individually cascaded on a plate. Shone with golden brown, ever so slightly charred on the corners. Seconds longer in the oven would have been too much for the Phyllo. The filling is so creamy and bright that I wish I hadn't had to share my piece. Other favorites of the night include the meatball calzone. A huge moon shaped pocket that bares large openings that reveal ample amounts of cheese and fillings. Another delicately golden brown colored dish. Pizza is good, no major complaints- but on a second trip, the former is what I'd pay more attention. One dish that was a bit lacking was the chicken alfredo, which I found a good deal thicker than necessary. The table also thought spaghetti was an odd choice for the alfredo, but I'm all for putting tweaks on the classics. Can't wait to return. read more

YES YES YES! Finally a really good pizza place in DSS! Food: The Pizza and sauce are a pair made in heaven. The toppings make it THAT MUCH better! Tried the Supremo (w/o black olives) -- EVERYTHING was FRESH! The caramelized onions were delish! The oven baked buffalo wings were quite flavorful and juicy! Beware: the wings are BAKED not FRIED, so don't allow the dark red color inside to fool you (they're cooked!) :) Service: Everyone was helpful! Since we sat at the bar we had the honor of being served by the gentleman (who we assumed was a manager of some sort). He was very nice and greeted us immediately with a smile! How welcoming! :) The food didn't take too long, especially for it being FRESH! Ambiance: Feels like sitting at your own kitchen counter, awaiting delicious homemade meals! Comforting! This is the best pizza delivery that I have had downtown silver spring. I don't mind paying the $2 delivery fee with some of the foolishness that some other pizza joints are selling. You would think that pizza would be an easy fix, but not in this area. If you are not ordering from the chain restaurants, most places are charging ridiculous delivery fees and/or lack luster food. This pizza place has good quality toppings without it being too salty. The fresh basil and mixed greens were pretty darn good. The delivery time was reasonable, and I enjoyed a delicious pizza. To start off, I give 4 stars for the food. But, 2 stars for their delivery service. The food here is very good and, in my opinion, of great quality. I've had their panini, pizza, calzone, as well as some of their pasta dishes (lasagna, ravioli, manicotti). All are delicious! Saucy, cheesy, garlicky deliciousness. A favorite among my fellow coworkers is the bread they use for their dishes, especially the sandwiches. It really makes their dishes. It is carb glory. And, cheese. They don't slight on the cheese, at all. In fact, for someone who loves cheese, it may be a little much for me sometimes. I don't frequent here as often as others though because I can't afford the calories :-( Now, my main concern with this place is their delivery service. On all occasions in which I've ordered delivery (usually with some others from work), they have gotten at least one part of the order wrong. In one instance, we ordered lunch and it didn't arrive for over 2 hours. We are literally a 5 minute walk away from the restaurant. And when we called to ask about the order, they gave us a hard time and told us they were on their way. And, it still took another hour to arrive. In the case in which we ordered catering, they did not get our order correct and we called to verify several times. They did try to alleviate the inconvenience by giving us an extra tray of food (which are huge, by the way). And in other instances, they have credited us sandwiches or a soda here and there. In sum, we have decided that if we do order from there, it will be picked up rather than delivered. So, you ask, why do we still eat here? Because it really is good food. But, my advice is to order pick up or dine-in only. It is not worth the hassle. read more

The first time I ate here it was a happy accident. I'd just locked myself out of my house and needed a place to hang out for a bit until someone came home with a key. Thankfully, I had my purse with me, so could gather a few people for lunch. I've managed to return a few times now, and have sampled items from every section of the menu other than dessert. I honestly don't know if I'll ever make it to dessert but I will keep trying. As of this moment, the item I've liked most is the panini. I ordered the roasted eggplant panini, which is served on freshly baked bread and includes olives, feta, and perfectly cooked eggplant. The portobello pizza was also truly delicious, with entire cloves of roasted garlic strewn over the surface of the pie. I'd gladly eat either one of these dishes again. I will suggest that the appetizers are mostly skipped. Most of them will simply distract from the main dish, and as it is a fast casual restaurant your appetizer will most likely arrive along with your entree. The bruschetta is large enough to be a light meal on its own, but was easily shared. The only thing truly lacking here is salt. I rarely have to add salt to a dish, but here I walked across the room to find a salt shaker. I also asked about the lack of salt, and was told that they had decided to err on the side of not enough rather than too much. I really do appreciate this thought, but suggested that they have salt available on every table, and that it be a coarsely ground salt to add both taste and texture. Between a nice selection of beer, Jones Soda on tap, and a varied menu, Italian Kitchen is a welcome addition to Silver Spring. read more

I like pizza cheese but wait now the whole taste of a manicotti dinner is out the window because this pizza taste is all over everything. Totally unprofessional and almost-frightening experience. The driver left without collecting the cash from my order/ he just handed over the food and walked away immediately. Without thinking about it, I just went on about my day. About four hours later, around 11 pm (on a Monday!) and with no prior announcement, this person showed up at my home again banging down my door, threatening to call the police. He stated that even though he forgot to get the cash, that it was my job to remind him. This person used my personal cell number, which he shouldn't have even had access to, to text me, in addition to showing up at my home late at night to threaten me. The food was fine, but I will not be returning if this behavior is condoned by the establishment's management. I would be careful allowing this place to have access to your personal information, including your home address. I hope no one else ever has to experience such threatening and unprofessional behavior. This is all very unfortunate because I'm now afraid to order from them again for my own safety, even though I very much enjoy the food and have ordered many times. read more
