My husband and I had carryout pizza for dinner one night. It was my first time trying Coalfire despite living in the neighborhood for eight years. We ordered a custom pizza with chicken and onions. It was delicious with just enough of each topping we ordered. It hit the spot after a long day and I look forward to trying more of their pizzas in the future!

    Next to our table

We normally love this place so hopefully this is a temp situation but they are currently understaffed (8/1/25). Our food was taking ages while other tables around us who had sat down after us were eating...I asked a runner about our food, and it came out instantly. But clearly the food had been sitting and waiting a long time. My chicken Parm was not only overcooked (unrelated to sitting out), but was cold and looked dry, and the pasta was crusty. I was assured that my daughter's pasta was fresh, although that was very questionable as well. The manager offered to remake my dish, however I am certain that they just heated up the same dish , added fresh cheese, and gave it back to me - it had been cut and was exactly as overcooked. The pasta had more sauce on it than needed. The manager told us that he would comp our entire meal, but when I brought it up to the waiter, he said that they would take a percentage off. We watched as the manager bussed tables and dealt with to go food that was clearly not going smoothly. The waiter admitted they were understaffed. There was some something that looked like wet rained-on cake on the ground next to us and stuff all over the seat, as if the place had not been properly prepped and cleaned for dinner. Overall, the worst experience we've had here.

Grilled Caesar Salad - split (really good!)

I really enjoyed the pizza. We had a Margherita with signature sauce (instead of classic). I also split a grilled Caesar salad, which was very good. My daughter got spaghetti and meatballs. She didn't care for the meatballs, but the sauce was tasty. My youngest ordered kids chicken tenders with fries; they were what you might expect. The fries are skinny, which provides a nice texture, but they needed more salt. The restaurant inside is pretty generic. Overall, solid choice and I would order pizza regularly, if I lived closer.

First time trying this place and it was good! Had the right amount of crust and their crab Mac & cheese was good. Nothing bad to say about this place. I would definitely order from here again! Thanks Coal Fire

The pizza was fine, but I did not think it was worth the price. It was a little on the dry side for my liking.

Pizza was dry and flavorless, service was quick but pizza was not worth it. I will not go back again.

He was very kind and caring and went out of his way to have a celebration for my husband's birthday. The restaurant had such a modern, homey, comfort feel. I loved the decor!! The service and ambiance was amazing!! Everything was amazing!! The chairs extremely comfortable Thank you Jennifer, Sammy and Rick for an amazing and beautiful experience. We arrived early evening still hot/sunny outside. We were asked upon entering if we had a reservation? We replied no didn't know you took reservations. We were then seated. The vibe inside looking around felt classy, cool & comfortable. The menu is quite extensive offering appetizers, entree salads, pastas, risottos & pizza. Our server explains w/confident enthusiasm pizza dough & pastas made fresh daily. We ordered roasted brussels sprouts w/bacon. Smoky crispy brussels sprouts, tender savory bacon. My friend ordered the Napoli Margarita Pizza-fresh tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese & basil (top) in photo. I ordered Sausage Pizza-Roman-sausage, marinated red peppers mozzarella, and asiago cheese. Roman-is square shaped crust-think focaccia bread. Tender buttery flavor w/crispy edge, rich tasty sausage & tangy red peppers & creamy cheese. Delicious meal fresh ingredients. I ordered the Abe Berry Spritzer (elderberry aperol, prosecco) light refreshing fruity flavor. Complemented the richly flavored pizza. We both enjoyed our meal. Our attentive provided great customer service. As we left, looking around-the not so large restaurant had filled up w/people enjoying themselves. Yes worth another visit. See photos.

Having traveled and dined across the globe, I did not expect homemade pasta, fresh espresso, and Neapolitan style pizza to be in Rockville MD. If you live within an hour drive, just take the trip and have lunch or dinner here. Try the espresso martini! I shared a cheese pizza with my daughter, my mother had the chicken piccata, my cousin the gnocchi, my father the chicken parm, my cousin had a caprese salad and the further seats I couldn't see. We all shared a few orders of the calamari. EVERYONE raved about how delicious their food was. I agree. Probably the best piccata I've tasted. The pizza was excellent. The tiramisu great. The pistachio gelato was perfect. I sure wish they were closer to Florida!! So good.

The biggest hit for me was the suppli appetizer. These are absolutely delicious and vegetarian friendly! Similar to arancini but somehow even more delicious. These are a must-order. I had the pasta alla vongole and a bite of my husband's chicken parmigiana. Our friend had mushroom ravioli that she loved, but I didn't try as I don't care for mushrooms. I've been on a clams and garlic kick lately for some reason and the vongole comes with these and bonus bacon. I would have preferred the bacon a tad crispier, but that is personal preference. I'd give this dish 4* - I would get it again but after trying some others. From the one bite the chicken parmigiana was a 5*. Their marinara is very good and the linguine in both our dishes tastes freshly made. We all split the chocolate temptation dessert and I ate more of it than I expected to, it is chocolate mousse adjacent cake with ganache frosting, very light, perfectly sweet. Often I find chocolate desserts too much after a big meal but this one wasn't heavy at all. 5* My friend ordered sangria which she thought was more like a wine cooler; too sweet for her French oenophile sensibilities and a bit lighter than a sangria usually is, but I am a pleb who loves sweet drinks and I would order it. If you are a sangria purist you might not care for it. Hubs enjoyed his old fashioned but said it needed a dash more bitters to be perfect. I was driving so enjoyed a non-dirty Shirley. Prices to me are reasonable for quality and portion size; our tab ended up high because of the appetizer, drinks and dessert but if you just had pizza or pasta with soda it would be pretty affordable. I will be back to get more suppli and try other dishes!

As for me and my friend, we love them all and can't just pick one dish. I do need to do shoutout to all of the different pizzas because, it is always cooked to perfection m, just enough char and the ingredients always stand out. The waiters and the greeters are mostly family and always never fail to welcome you. The bruschetta given at the start of the meal starts you out really good to the excellent food that is to come. And it's great that you're always assured of having at least two pieces per person because just one is definitely not enough.
