This place has been a staple in my family for years. Everything from their pre-made dinners to their sandwiches, to their fresh breads and their desserts, are all fantastic. I'm always looking for an authentic Italian Deli- and this is it! They have the freshest and finest produce and Italian products that most delis and stores do not carry. They make amazing hero's as well as salads and food. They make sausage stuffed mushrooms that are out of this world. While they are not cheap - either is the quality of the food they have. So I look at it as you get what you pay for so I can't complain. They are a hidden gem that I'm thankful to have found. I did love this place but not anymore. Went there on a Saturday around 5:15 for 2 cannoli's and eggplant. The young man at the counter went to fill the cannoli shells and didn't have enough filling. He called out to the manager and they went to the kitchen for some time. I paid for my order and when I got home within 10 minutes of leaving the store and took the box of cannoli out of the paper bag I felt duped. The filing was runny and just about all out of the shell. It looked like they ran out of filling and added an ingredient to stretch what they had. Terrible experience - won't go back. The Riv, as us Bergen county folks like to call it is great for a sandwich during lunch or the fresh sliced italian meats. I've recently been frequenting this place more and more. I've tried their pasta from the case recently and even bought some of their homemade sauce. If you're from here you know to usually make your own but I was feeling lazy and took a chance. It was good and I enjoyed the meal when I prepared it at home. The one thing I love here is the potato salad. It's great and always has the right balance of mayo and vinegar, except I went the other day and the potatoes weren't chopped as small as they usually were and the taste was a little off. The most important thing to me is consistency, but this was only 1 time. I did also try the mozzarella sticks on this trip and they were not my favorite. The breading was way to heavy and dry. The only concern I have is they often have food items out by the register and I'm wondering if they should be in a cold case. I'm not seeing how keeping items out unrefrigerated for an extended period of time would be a good idea. Although I have eaten a few things off those displays and never had any issues, it just makes me uneasy. read more

Very disappointed today with them. Bread was less than fresh and a bunch of eggplant dry, only 2 thin slices of mozzarella and 1 piece of roasted pepper. This was my first and last time visiting this deli. I was very disappointed with my purchase today. I had a very simple Sandwich order, Mozzarella and Tomato w balsamic vinegarette . This is a regular purchase for my family and I don't know how this could possibly get screwed up at an Italian deli...but they did. I placed my order and the kid that was helping me asked if I wanted a whole or half sandwich. I said whole because I was feeding a 19 year old boy. He piled the Mozzarella on the sandwich as if it were turkey, I saw and asked him to remove half and put it in a container. It was a ridiculous amount and no one could eat that amount of cheese. He then put 3 slivers of tomato and plain balsamic vinegar...not vinegarette... and the price of this $15.50...absolutely insane. Not to mention I now had to run out to a store to buy tomatoes to fix this sandwich. If you are going to charge outrageous prices you should at least know how to make a proper Italian sandwich in an Italian deli. Also asked if they had any pasta salad and was told they only had regular macaroni salad, I said fine and took it even though it wasn't what I wanted. After I paid I walked past the display case and saw that they had tortellini salad, I guess he didn't know tortellini was pasta. Definitely won't be going back. read more
