A very nice little gem located in Glen Rock. Hard to choose with so many delicious sounding options. The have everything from breakfast , cold/hot subs and ice cream. Service is super friendly, shop is clean, prices are fair. I got the Rockefeller which has cutlet, prosciutto, mutz, balsamic on a very soft roll. The sandwich is very good, a little dry (I would throw some mayo on there next time) , but the cutlet is perfectly cooked and thin, and the bread is very good. I love Giannella's. It consistently tastes great, the food is always ready for pickup when they tell you it will be, and the value is incredible. The bread is way better than the typical, generic deli bread you usually get (it tastes homemade and it may be, I'm not sure), the subs are enormous, and the ingredients are always fresh. I've come to Giannella's for years. The Boar's Head meats are still fine and the price is fair, but the bread has been inconsistent. My last time there, my roll was really disappointing. This was my first visit to Giannella's, enticed by a coupon on the back on my ShopRite receipt. It was a Friday at 11:30am. I turned out to be much busier than expected. I ordered the Johnny Depp sandwich as well as the Clark Gable which I would take care of later. I enjoyed my meal on a dish while watching even more customers come in with perhaps 75% of them leaving soon after with their purchase. The "full" sandwich was huge and better yet, tasty. I ate the other one the next day with a two hour pause between the halves. It was also of high quality. I finished with a chocolate chip brownie the next day. read more

First time coming here on a recommendation from my cousin who lives in town. Decided to take a drive on my day off to try a new place. I can honestly say I was not disappointed. Got a hot sub called the John Wayne because I'm a sucker for a good Hot Roast Beef and Gravy and a cold sandwich the Costello. The John Wayne was delicious with good flavor from the first bite. The Costello wasn't bad as a cold sandwich but I'm not big on condiments. But it was still gone in less than 5 mins. After having those two half sandwiches I decided to get what my cousin recommended, the Tony Montana. And again it has gravy on it (which I love) but the real winner was the chicken cutlet on the sandwich. And if you have enough room left after a normal sitting, make sure to get a chocolate chip cookie. It was crisp/crunchy on the edges and the middle soft/gooey, just needed a glass of milk to wash it down. Music in the store is welcoming for anyone that cares about that stuff. I was focused on the food. I don't really review too many places but this one was deserving of my time. Will definitely be back. read more

By far my favorite deli in the Glen Rock/Fair Lawn area. The people there are so friendly and the food is always fresh. I usually got with a grilled chicken wrap of some sort and/or a salad and have never once had a complaint (we order here often at work). I have to say, you can honestly taste the freshness and quality of their grilled chicken. It's usually pretty warm and I know they cooked it fresh to order. A few other deli's in the area just don't do that and it really steps Giannella's up in my eyes. Prices are standard local deli prices, not expensive at all for what you get. Giannella's is an Italian deli in an unassuming little location that you have to try. Being a Jersey transplant living in CA now I was in search of a good Italian deli and this place did not disappoint! Be prepared to wait a bit as they hand craft every sandwich and it certainly shows. The quality of the food is top notch, the sandwiches are huge and the fresh baked breads are awesome. I ordered the "Lou Costello" which was a very good sandwich and my wife ordered the "Nice Guy Eddie" which was fantastic. We had numerous people in our party and everyone commented on how good the sandwiches were; all were pleased with their choices. We also sampled some of the bakery items and the ice cream which were both good in their own right, but the sandwiches were certainly the standouts of our visit. Overall, we were very pleased with our visit and will certainly return again when we're in NJ. read more

I'll eat anything and I probably will be back if I have too, but after 4 visits, I regretted ever spending a dime here. First time, the bacon egg and cheese was all pieced up separately. If I dropped the roll, everything would fly out. No melty cheese. Second time, the donut had feeezer burn and was hard. Third time, mac n cheese was lumpy and cheese wasn't gooey. Good serving for 3.99 but will never get it again. 4th time, doughnut as I worked on my computer. I'm difficult to please and I loved their Rockefeller sandwich. They make sandwiches fresh to order instead of heating up ingredients that have been lying around all day. You can really taste the difference and it's absolutely worth the 7min wait. My favorite deli ever since I was a kid. Every Sunday we would get a variety of deli meats & cheeses along with a loaf of their fresh baked bread and enjoy sandwiches for breakfast, lunch & dinner!
