A year after our first meeting, was having problems, and begging for an intervention. Over a year later, with similar problems (no blame on Manners Unleashed), I got the "good luck in your search for other solutions" e-mail. I really felt left out in the cold, right when I really needed help. I have recommended several friends to Chris for mild behavior problems with great results...for more persistent/serious problems, I felt that the desire to develop ongoing change was missing and left to chance. Dealing with a reactive dog is a life-long challenge that needs a commitment from all parties: dog, owner, and trainer. I was told she was offered a great deal for the rental and some homemade dog treats. Parking was a bit confusing as the parking nearby the business was full and there was a spot that we think was free to use but not sure. As we entered, we were greeted by a staff member who let us in and the space is huge! There were plenty of toys, a dog pool, and little obstacles for dogs to enjoy to their hearts' content! They even have a hose to fill up the pool or just have your dogs chase around. There were little cubbies and lots of areas to hang leashes, coats, and other stuff on. They had Youtube videos playing too. The dog treats were so creative. They had cannoli, biscuits, and much more. All of our dogs seemed to have enjoy the treats greatly, no treats were left behind. All of the dogs seemed to be enjoying themselves as they just had so much to do or other dogs to play with. Definitely look forward to coming back here to throw future dog parties as our group loves to do little events for our fur babies.

It made me wonder about the ratio balance between humans vs dogs. I had dropped my dog off for a behavioral assessment, as we have trips coming up and I'm looking for boarding care. This is not where I'm personally comfortable leaving my pup, as the ratio seemed to be 1 human to 15 or 20 dogs in an indoor-only, less than 1500sq foot space. The good news is they are so kind and nice humans, if I was rating them they'd earn 5+++ stars as I'd leave my dog in their care anytime! The problem I had was the physical space (super tiny!) and the ratio of dogs, as they allowed 3 or 4 pups to greet my dog while 15 or so were in a hallway-type space patiently waiting and sooooo well-behaved, to greet and play. The space for playing is very limited, about 1/2 the size of a classroom, and while it's clean and the staff are super lovely, it's probably not the best fit for our pup who loves to play fetch and run. Parking is also super tricky in this neighborhood, as there isn't a parking lot or spaces reserved for the business.

Kay's made us feel confident in their skills and the outcome was exactly what we wanted (even tho we couldn't explain it with words, it was like they read our mind). My experience with Deborah has been very mixed. My dog is very well behaved with one exception -…read moreshe barks at the door. I scheduled a private session at my home with Deborah since this is the only place where my dog barks. She called ten minutes past our appointment time, asking if we were supposed to be meeting (we had scheduled this two days prior). Deborah and her trainees finally arrived, the training did go relatively well. My dog responded well to the techniques used, but I was very surprised that I was not involved in the training. I did not practice with my dog at all during the session. Also, the only thing my dog learned during the $150 session was to make eye contact when her name is called in order to earn a treat. A majority of the time was spent with Deborah and the two gentlemen she was training giving my dog treats in order to warm her up to them. In total the session was a little over an hour. While I was impressed that my dog stayed engaged for that long (usually during training she gets bored after about 20 minutes), I did not feel that the amount of improvement was worth $150. I emailed Deborah for advice the next day. My dog sleeps with me and was running to the front door to bark before I could command her to calm. This lead to a good amount of barking before I was able to get to her. It took two weeks to get a response and I was told that I was the problem and I needed to crate my dog at night. Crating is not an option because 1. I need my dog to sleep with me and 2. when we tried crating her originally she multiple times hurt herself trying to get out. The response was that I needed to spend more money on more training. I understand that one session can only do so much, but I really feel more could have been taught to me and that for the amount I paid there should be some more advice via email/phone to follow up.

We just got our puppy Cosmo through them and are so happy. Francena is not just a great breeder…read morewho really loves dogs and animals, but has a really great process. The process starts with an application. I have owned another Cav so I appreciated the questions she asked. She contacted us first that we made it through application, then again when she had the puppy we asked for (male Blenheim). We then went for meeting to see the puppy. We met not just the puppy, but its parents. All the dogs and puppies looked really healthy and happy. We fell in love with Cosmo right away and made plans to pick up when ready (she likes to keep puppies until 12 weeks). Francena is so well-organized. She had this health pamphlet that had doctor's reports and vaccine records and then gave use a goody back including some food. Then she did such a great job training the puppy--it was already comfortable in crate and very close to being potty trained. We are so happy and we highly recommend HRH Cavaliers.
