Best sandwich in Columbia Metro award?…read more I mean yall. What? I be the MOST dramatic on these reviews sometimes bc lol they just read more fun. I'm. Dead. Ass. If yall don't get down to this bad boy and order you the "Chicken Charleston" during our lord and saviors pride month?! HOMOPHOBIA! I didn't know what to order (they literally have the LARGEST menu) and the fabulous front of house baddie said she loved The Charleston so.. I said you know what? LAYGO. 10/10 This was the best dang sandwich I've had in months. It's basically a chicken Philly but they put they whole foot, knee, thigh, and hootenanny into making that bad boy. AND ITS ACROSS FROM THE HOSPITAL SO I CAN JUST MOSEY ON OVER ANY TIME IM IN THIS CENTRALIZED LOCAYSH?! swear SC just wants me to stay fat and sassy atp. Only thing I disliked was the black olives in the pasta salad, but that's a personal preference situation. (Yall can have mine if you wanna meet up for lunch, tuh!) They also have kids eat free nights too! Clearly I don't have any children (kind of difficult to given the whole.. well, it's pride month yfm? Hahaha) but bring the whole fam. Clean, welcoming, good service and decently quick. Thanks everyone! Fr, this rocked.

This morning, while at Momma Rabbit's Nibbles and Sips, my wife, our barely 2 year old son and a friend were told by who I assume to be one of the owners, that if she was not able to "quiet" my child down, she would have to "take him outside" for fear that he make start to "rile other kids that were there up, and we can't have that". My son, who, again is barely 2, sat in his high chair the entire time, threw not one piece of food on the ground, and sat as politely as a 2 year old could, occasionally cheering "YEAHH" whenever our friend or my wife did something he found entertaining. YES his voice was elevated the few times he cheered, YES there were SIX other children of varying ages in the restaurant all making noises (as all children do), YES it is a very casual restaurant serving breakfast and lunch, and YES there was a grown man sitting at a table near them talking on the phone, on speaker I will point out, for several minutes. So to say that both her and our friend were shocked would be the understatement of the year. We have visited this restaurant on countless occasions, with friends, with my wife, with my children, purchased freezer meals from them, done our parts of supporting a small local business, all to be told to quiet our child down who was making far less noise than many other people were in this restaurant. My wife spent most of her young adult and adult career working in and managing numerous successful restaurants spanning an almost 11 year period. I am appalled, disgusted, and saddened at this clear lack of compassion, professionalism, and customer service. And we wonder why moms are fearful to take their children out in public these days. We will unfortunately not return to Momma Rabbits, ever.

Our friends ordered a small onion ring for the table to start. I must say they were great. The onion did not pull out at all from the batter. Very hot and probably among the best I've had. I ordered the Mama Henry Burger with no tomato and crispy wing chips. My wife ordered the Philly Cheese Steak and Tots while our friends ordered the Fried Chicken sandwich with crispy wing chips and the Club Sandwich with Medium wing Chips. We all agreed that the wing chips were some of the best we've had. Perfectly done. My burger was very good. Fresh lettuced, red onion, cheddar cheese/bacon and on a nice bun. I'd order it again! My wife's Philly cheese steak was also very good. We all liked the meal. We had to ask about the home made ice cream. I'd been here once before and had a hard time believing they really make their ice cream here at the restaurant. They had (I think) 18 flavors. The waitress brought three of us a couple of small spoon samples to try out the flavors. We ended up each getting a scoop in a small bowl and it was excellent. I don't think I can resist not getting the ice cream when I go back here. And she did confirm that Mama Henry does make the ice cream at the restaurant. We were all pleased with everything! Great service, food and atmosphere. Definitely will go back.

Mama Henry's Restaurant - A great find!…read more Our ROMEO group of nine went to Mama Henry's today for the first time. None of us had ever been here before--or, for that matter, even heard of it. Since last week was our 200th restaurant we've visited, which we celebrated at Hall's, I figured we'd go in the opposite direction for today's luncheon and try a good old-fashioned local home-cooking establishment. I had seen a review of Mama Henry's a couple of weeks ago, and it piqued my interest. We arrived around 11:15, and our waitress, Mahkinzey, set us up in the back area by pulling several tables together. She took our drink orders and gave us some recommendations. When asked what she would recommend, she said the 16-hour pot roast was great, along with all of the burgers. She also recommended the catfish Po'Boy and another dish, and then told us to check out their homemade ice cream. Of course, we never order dessert at lunch! The menu is extensive, and we had quite an assortment of orders: two roast beef dinners with mashed potatoes and vegetables, two open-faced roast beef sandwiches, two different types of hot dogs, a Philly cheesesteak, a club sandwich, and a Mama Henry Burger with some great home fries. There was plenty of conversation about how great the menu looked, along with some discussion about what a trip it was to get here from Northeast Columbia. But just like last week... when the food was brought to the table, the talking stopped and the eating began! Mahkinzey was an excellent waitress. She brought extra ice for the iced tea, kept an eye on our table, and did a great job keeping everyone's drinks filled. When we finished our meals, she brought out the extensive list of homemade ice cream flavors and told us we could sample them. Now picture this: nine ROMEO guys who NEVER order dessert suddenly piling up around the front ice cream counter. We were checking out the flavors like kids at the ice cream shop. One member announced, "I just can't order the ice cream." He had worked out that morning and apparently still had some willpower left. He watched as eight of us returned to the table with a scoop of ice cream. Between us, we had sampled about five different flavors. The comments started flying about how good the ice cream was. Well, apparently the peer pressure--or perhaps the ice cream--was too much. Our workout-conscious ROMEO finally stepped up his game, went back to the counter, and ordered a scoop himself...He didn't regret it When it was time for the official ROMEO rating, and we already knew this one was going to be good. What we didn't expect was just how good. Mama Henry's received a 9.71 out of 10, which tied the rating we gave Hall's just one week ago for our 200th restaurant celebration. Not too shabby! This is the highest rating we've given any restaurant before (tied with Hall's) But here's the kicker: Mama Henry's cost us about half of what we paid at Hall's--and that included ice cream! For a group that visits a different restaurant almost every Tuesday, finding a place this good that none of us had even heard of is a pretty special discovery. Mama Henry's is a true hidden gem, and apparently, a place where ROMEO can be persuaded to eat dessert.

Most of us downloaded the mobile app which gave us a free Charburger with a purchased drink. Got there at 11:20 and we ordered at the counter. The inside was empty so we had plenty of space for our group. The cashier and manager at the time were very friendly and took our order and helped some of the guys with the mobile app situation. I think we all opted for the standard Charburger and possibly added cheese to it. I chose to split the regular fries and the tempura beans but others tried the sweet potato fries and onion rings along with just the fries. The opinion on the burger was varied. We had comments from it being very bland to excellent (one person said bland/tasteless and one said great). The majority said that the burger was good but nothing out of the ordinary. It had a nicely done burger with good meat, lettuce, mayo, onion, tomato and I think a pickle. I honestly felt that I could've ordered from Burger King or What-a-Burger and it wouldn't have been that much different. It had a sesame seed coated bun which was fine. The best thing that two of us had were the tempura green beans. Absolutely fabulous. A light crispy coating and yet the bean was totally cooked perfectly. I placed an order to take home to my wife and she thought they were great. The one person from California ordered a shake and said it was very good. Most of us ordered a soft drink just because of the mobile app giving a free char burger with a soft drink order. The shake did look good however. I will definitely return and try a shake next time and also order the beans again. I can't say anything about the other burgers since we pretty much ordered the same thing. Our average rating was 4.5 for the group, which is very good.
