*This review has some corny references, so be prepared.* If you know me, you'd know potatoes-especially baked-are one of my ALL time favorite foods. If you don't know me and just read my reviews, you'd eventually figure it out from there. Of all places, I read about It's Potato in a waiting room magazine. Thankfully, it was a recent one which told me they were still open, and I knew I needed to book a trip here. Braving the intense heat, I flew into North Hollywood where it was even hotter, but I was intent on getting my baked potato fix. One person in line in front of me, and he was ordering a potato with basically everything since they have a lot of options. The flight-inspired decor and runway floor was cool, along with the 'window seats' of different destinations next to the tables. It's a smaller space, but they do a decent job with what they have. What would be the upfront cockpit is towards the rear of the restaurant, and although other reviewers say kids would love this, I'm grown and I enjoyed it too. I'd 100% rock a Captain Potato shirt proudly if they come out with one. They offer some unique potato creations, however I was going classic economy. They take a foil-wrapped potato, unwrap it, salt and pepper it, then douse it with liquid butter. Even though this is what I wanted, they didn't ask so if you don't want salt or any of the other ingredients I just mentioned, let them know as they unwrap the potato. Since I was staying basic, I just added cheddar cheese and bacon with green onions on the side. Toppings are an additional $1 except for bacon and guacamole which is $2 each. He did ask if I wanted the garlic sauce and I declined (some reviewer photos have it drizzled on top). Guy rang me up at the end, put the order in a bag with a fork and napkin. I couldn't wait to get this back to my place to dig in. By the time I arrived, the cheese was nicely melted. Potato was so good! It was definitely more salty on some bites more than others, but this didn't ruin it for me. They did give a lot of scallions but I only added a very small amount so I'll skip those next time. This was also a large sized potato which made for a smaller meal, and I happily finished all of it. It's Potato gives me another reason to head into this part of town, even in the summer. They also have a soup which sounds amazing; difficult to consider right now due to the season but I am looking forward to trying this when the weather permits. With fun airplane themes, cute mascot, and delicious product, there is no doubt I'll be racking up some miles* I mean, visits... *Please consider a mileage program for frequent visitors!* read more

Wifey and I heard about It's Potato on social media. My better half has a weakness for potatoes, so we decided to give them a shot. It's located off of Sherman Way and Ethel Ave. It shares a parking lot with other businesses so parking can be hit or miss depending on the time of day. We walked in around 7PM and there were no customers. My wife ordered a carne asada loaded potato while I had the carne asada loaded fries. As soon as I ordered the fries, the sole employee went back into the kitchen and disappeared for quite some time to presumably cook the fries. It was kind of awkward for us to just be standing there with no indication of how long it'll take. I wonder if they do the same thing when/if it gets busy. There were a handful of potatoes already baked on the counter and wrapped up, but god knows how long they'd been sitting out there. The employee grabbed one, cut it open, and stuffed steak inside. My wife and I both noticed that the meat wasn't fresh. Like the potatoes, it's not made to order so everything was cold. We even asked if they would heat up the food, but the employee swore that it wasn't necessary as the potato would heat itself on its own. What, through magic? What a humongous red flag! They had some questionable topping choices - pinto/tomato beans, cheddar cheese (shredded not melted), olives, onions, pickled cabbage, corn, banana peppers, bacon, and guacamole). I don't know who picked the menu, but they definitely shot themselves in the foot. By the time we paid, we both already knew It's Potato was going to be buns - sure enough, it was. Who the hell doesn't heat up food?! If you're in the mood for a loaded baked potato, your better off going to any street vendor since they'll obviously make it fresh for you. Everything here was lukewarm at best (even my fries after they went to the back to make them). The meat was cold and chewy, the toppings make me think the owners never had a real loaded baked potato before and are just winging it, and the customer service wasn't the best. Hopefully they get better, but keep on driving past It's Potato until you find something/anything tastier (which isn't a high bar to clear). read more

Went into It's Potato today. Was excited to try it after all of the amazing reviews. Brought my ninety-seven-year-old dad who's obsessed with baked potatoes and has been wanting to try it for a long while. We asked the counterman "What do you have that doesn't have salt in it?" (Dad can't eat salt.) The counter man said, "Nothing." Dad said, "Thank you. Goodbye." Maybe It's Potato is good. But we will never know. read more

The initial expected result and the scent was very high. Baked potatoes are already delish but to add toppings and make them an entire meal was icing on the cake. I wanted Asada but they removed it and offered barbacoa. There is a menu on top and it tells you how many toppings you get for the price (3) but it's easy to forget and add more things. As you can see from my photo, I topped it off with everything I wanted. Appeared to be a very heavy meal but the worker said, watch how you eat the whole plate! I almost did finish it actually and it cost about $26 for this one plate. Definitely not for someone on a diet but as a treat once or twice a month, not bad. I gave 4 stars because I didn't anticipate each and every thing being an extra $1-$3 on top of the price you're paying and he didn't specify it. read more

Started going here since it opened and have been hooked ever since! The chicken is amazing and so is the beef I keep alternating back and forth. It's been a go to craving for my pregnant wife and we can't stop coming here. The customer service is amazing and all the ingredients are delicious. They are eager to show you everything and you can taste everything before choosing. My wife is a celiac and everything here is basically GF. Can't recommend enough! read more

It's potato is extremely fun and great for adults and kids. Sam and Carl are so kind. First off the staff is incredibly kind and makes the experience extremely welcoming. It's wonderful watching people take pride and what they do. The food was extremely fresh and delicious. As a pilot, I really love the Aviation theme and it made me so happy to see how proud the owner was to all of the decorations that he created. I'm not kidding when I say that It's Potato has the BEST baked potatoes I've ever had. I recently had a huge craving for baked potatoes, and decided to give this place a try. I'm almost embarrassed at the amount of times I've come in since first trying it a little over a week ago. The potatoes are fresh, ingredients are fresh and flavorful, and the staff is incredibly kind and efficient. I never spend more than 5 minutes in there because of their quick service. The aviation theme is a super fun addition, and the interior of the store is so cool. It feels like you're really on a plane. It's Potato is my new favorite potato spot. It's a MUST try!!! read more

I'm addicted! Never knew about them until they opened up their brick n mortar location and now I'm gonna be a regular. Yes, the potatoes and topping selections are varied and ample, but I've been won over by their theming and design... it shows they care about their product AND the guest experience. Delicious! We came around 4pm so there was no wait, which we were thankful for as we tried to come previously around 9pm and the line was capped for the night. The serving size is amazingly large and tastes great. I ended up having leftovers for dinner the next day. I got the chicken curry potato--the curry was a little colder than I would have liked, but I didn't mind too much. The potato was very fluffy with a nice crispy skin. You can add crispy onions and any sauce you would like as well. I can't wait to try the other potatoes! read more
