For those of you who live in the SFV, you know that good breakfast spots are hard to come by and if you do know any, you've already been there a thousand times. While searching for something new, I stumbled across this spot! My boyfriend and I love old diners like these so we decided to give it a try. I won't lie to you, pulling up and seeing it was at a Galpin dealership kind of threw us off lol But OMG this place was amazing! Right off the bat, the ambiance was so nice, like stepping into a time machine and being back in the 60s. We were greeted so warmly and decided to sit at the bar to get the full experience. Upon looking at the menu, they had more than just breakfast. They had burgers, sandwiches, melts, steaks and more! GET IT AT GALPIN Now, the chefs. Just by looking at them through the pass, I knew I was about to have the greatest food I've ever tasted.. I ordered the griddle combo with french toast, my boyfriend ordered the huevos rancheros and we got a pastrami melt to share, and it was life changing. The butter just melted on the french toast paired with the warm syrup on the side... o m g I tried the orange juice and thought "that is freshly squeezed" and look up to find a machine squeezing fresh oranges, amazing. Our server Sesy was so attentive and even gave us a slice of homemade banana cream pie for my boyfriend's birthday! (all their pies are homemade btw) Can't even be mad at the prices cause I got exactly what I paid for, worth every penny! I've been coming to Horseless Carriage at Galpin since the early 2000s and honestly one of the things that amazes me is that the quality really hasn't changed! I ended up purchasing a car from Galpin last year, so I've had even more opportunities to stop by Horseless Carriage over the past year, and it's still just as good as I remember. Whether I'm there for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, the food is always fresh, crisp, and full of flavor. You can tell there's a real standard for the food here, and I think it's far above what you normally expect from a restaurant connected to a dealership. Geovanni is also fantastic, especially when it comes to restaurant standards and catering. He's incredibly detailed and makes sure everything is taken care of, and his staff is always so friendly and welcoming. Everyone seems to genuinely enjoy being there, and you can tell. I also love that whenever I'm here, I see so many familiar faces. There are clearly a ton of regulars, and the restaurant is busy all the time. To me, that says a lot more than anything else could. People keep coming back because of the relationships they've built with the staff and the consistency of the experience. After coming here for more than 20 years, I can honestly say the quality is still there. You can tell the family takes a lot of pride in this restaurant, and it shows. Very Disappointed With My Experience I came to Horseless Carriage Restaurant to redeem the complimentary meal coupon I received as a thank-you gift after purchasing my car from Galpin Honda. Unfortunately, what should have been a nice experience turned into a very disappointing one. I sat waiting for quite a while and eventually had to wave down a waitress just to get assistance at the counter. The waitress, Margarita (aka Maggie), had a very unfriendly demeanor from the beginning. When I asked a simple question, her response and attitude made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I even told her that I was willing to pay the difference if my meal exceeded the value of the coupon. I was not expecting anything special--just basic courtesy and good customer service. I honestly felt as though I was being treated poorly because I was using a complimentary meal coupon. If you are going to provide these coupons to customers, they should be honored with the same respect and courtesy as any paying customer. I am extremely disappointed with the way I was treated. Another delicious meal! Stopped in for Valentines dinner and was not disappointed. Steak and lobster was exactly what I wanted. I had asked for the rice pilaf side, but they didn't have it. Wait staff should have been made aware, but it seemed a surprise to her as well. Mashed potatoes were good, but I was expecting the pilaf, which I don't make at home. The staff here is always warm and friendly, and the service continues to be outstanding. The servers checked in regularly, made sure everything was okay, and kept our coffee and water topped off, which I always appreciate. This place is great. I love coming here and has a unique plates in history. The service is really good, but the menu is very very very large so there are so many great things to try, but I had to have the meat lovers omelette now it's called the meat lovers Sriracha, but I wasn't in the mood for that. I just did it with ketchup and I had to have cottage cheese on the side with some good coffee. I was not disappointed. I had my order in less than 10 minutes and I was ready to enjoy it. The Horsless Carriage has been on my girlfriends hit list for a few years and we are rarely in the valley but today we felt like a nice drive to come here and get our Wanderluster diner fix. This place also came up on a ChatGPT query for the best diners in LA so we decided to make the drive to see what all they hype is about. If you don't know this diner is what it is, you might miss it being connected to the Galpin dealership. We also really love the vibe of old skool diners and this one definitely hit that mark right down to the thick padded, vinyl stools at the counter and 70s/ 80s music playing. This is officially a diner but their menu takes it to the next level. Most menu items range from $20-$30 with a few outliers ($40 NY strip, $48 prime rib, $69 lobster tail) Another side note: They make fresh squeezed orange juice incase you are here for breakfast (or any other time) Elizabeth our waitress was great! She said the owner of Galpin eats here every day, knows the menu like back of his hand & usually gets the daily specials. He also gets the buffalo chili & chicken fajitas. (side note: The buffalo they use here comes from his ranch down in San Diego) The food here is good and the reason for giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the price. I got the Reuben ($21) and I don't mind mind paying $21 dollars for a Reuben sandwich & fries but I better get a LOT of food and it has to be one of the best Reuben s I've ever had. The portion size was a little small for me at that price point and the Reuben was good, not great. The seasoned fries were good and there was an okay amount. My girlfriend got the Belgian waffle combo ($16) which was 2 smaller waffles with 2 eggs and bacon or sausage. Her meal also was good, not great and she did leave a bit hungry. Again it is very important to me to get enough food with what you order. She also got a gingerbread latte ($6) and it was really good. (Their coffee that they serve is standard coffee and is not that great- but the self-serve coffee station they have for the dealership customers & salesmen is great though) They also make all their own desserts here, in-house and our waitress said that the banana cream pie is the most popular. They have also have an outdoor patio with tables and umbrellas. The parking lot is small but you can park on the street. It has a very locals feel to it. Everyone seems to know each other and I could even feel that home town vibe. So don't be shy to flag someone down if you need something lol. I did that for my check cause they were so busy. Todays special was the fish and chips so I had to try it. The fish they used is cod. It comes with cole slaw, actual potato chips and shredded lettuce. I recommend it! Flaky and easy to eat lol. 2/06/2026: Came to Galpin to have a vehicle serviced, and our nice service advisor gave us comps for Horseless Carriage while we wait! Their portions are generous and it's early for lunch, so we opted to share the Angus Club House Burger with fries and a slice of Carrot Cake. The burger is tasty.. the bacon is cooked perfectly and is nice and smoky. The seasoned fries are nice and crisp.. perfection! The carrot cake is so moist! Pineapple.. I don't detect coconut but that's ok. Could use more cinnamon and nutmeg but I'm not mad. It's still delicious! Our server was so sweet and personable... and her level of tolerance for the dude at the next table who is basically sexually harassing her is above and beyond! This year we decided to have breakfast at Horseless Carriage first, which was great because I've been wanting to check this place out. (It's great to have a place to take a break during lengthy negotiations or grab a bite while your car is being serviced.) This establishment has the looks and feel of a classic diner but servers up quality restaurant food. It was unusually busy due to the event, so there was a short wait. We were a group of seven and Executive Chef Geovanni Euceda personally came over to us and mentioned that we could be seated right away if we didn't mind dining in the conference room. Talk about VIP service. The conference room was very nice, and it felt like we were having a family meal at home. Our server Elizabeth was very friendly. In fact, everyone on staff that day were all genuinely nice. They were serving a limited menu for the event. Our order consisted of Huevos Rancheros, Steak & Eggs, H.C. Cheeseburger, & Caesar Salad. I really enjoyed my Caesar Salad and the house made dressing was exceptionally good. The seasoned fries that came with the burger were addicting. Love this retro diner in the heart of the valley. They sat us in the conference room even though we didn't have a reservation and there was another party coming. They said not to worry they'll take care of us. It was my birthday so we were feasting! Everything was delicious but the granola French toast is heavenly! They were so sweet and everyone was working their tail off especially because it does get packed. I'm not much of a gatekeeper, but part of me wants to be one with this place. Hiding in plain-view on Roscoe in front of the Galpin Ford dealership is arguably the best breakfast food in town. And while I drool at the thought of an omelette or pancakes there, I seem to always end up with the salmon salad, which is absolutely spectacularly cooked every time. Service is always friendly, they do serve beer and wine, which was a surprise and watching their $7000 juicer in action should be a televised event. It's a 15 minute drive from our house and we always find ways to get over there and enjoy it all. An absolute no-brainer if you're in the North Valley. read more

This diner is part of galpin Ford, on Roscoe near the 405. We heard about this and decided to try it. The staff are very friendly and made you feel very welcome. Our server Maggie was so nice and so attentive. Sam decided on the country fried steak. Absolutely delicious, perfect hash browns, and the biscuits and gravy we're delicious. Supposedly they're known for the famous cheeseburger and fries, so that's what I ordered. I asked for it pink or medium rare, not expecting it to arrive that way. The cheeseburger comes with 8 oz of Char-Broiled beef topped by two slices of American cheese lettuce tomato and thousand Island dressing. I asked for a ranch dressing to accompany the fries. The burger was perfectly done, really surprising me. The french fries or crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, perfect. I haven't had a char-broiled burger in a while and it was just so good and tasty. This place is the epitome of a great diner. It's not far from us, and they will see lots more of us. Despite giving the feel of a retro diner, Horseless Carriage has a full range of bites from an all day breakfast menu to soups/salad/sandwiches lunch fare to high quality dining you can bring a date to for dinner. Everything about this place is great. The ambiance, the workers, and especially the food. Some of the best fries I've had in LA. My favorite item on the menu is the cajun pasta. Way too filling for lunch, it definitely fed me for a few days. My colleages who joined me on my last visit said great things about the club sandwich, and a Galpin employee said anything with steak was the best. One of the best things about this place is how quickly we're seated - almost every visit, we're able to get a table right away. The gravy sauce is tasty and the steak itself is very good. Coupled with hash browns and 2 eggs - it's a great dish. Service is another highlight here. The staff is friendly and attentive, coffee and water refills are constant, and the food comes out quickly without feeling rushed. Parking right next to the restaurant can be a bit limited, but there's usually plenty of street parking nearby, so it's manageable. One unique thing I really enjoy is that it's connected to Galpin Ford. It's actually pretty fun to walk through the showroom and check out the cars while waiting for a table or even after finishing your meal. Disappointed. No greeting, no smiles. I ordered the Mediterranean omelette. Asked for hash brown's crispy. They came with that burned smokey taste and didn't eat. The ingredients in the omelette were not distributed to through with care. The feta cheese was on one side, the bell peppers on the other side, just no care in how it was prepared. I asked for sourdough toast, but was given warm wheat bread. I had to ask for a 2nd cup of coffee. The waitress never checked the back to see if I needed anything, or if everything was okay. Bad food, bad service, didn't meet the minimum expectations = no tip. $26.34 is already to much to charge for a lousy breakfast! I usually enjoy this restaurant, so will try it again sometime.
