Ami and Beth are seriously a G-dsend! I am very protective over my 1 year old cat-son, Roland (Exotic shorthair) and have been dreading the first time that I needed a pet sitter. I discovered them via NextDoor.com and am so thankful for them! I'm at ease when we are away and can relax knowing he's in their care. I appreciate getting daily reports with video and photo too; so cute and nice thing to help stay connected while you're away. Their rates are reasonable and they will also collect your mail or water plants if needed! read more

Ami, her dog Pinto, and her man are THE BEST when it comes to taking care of your dog. If you are absolutely in love with your dog, want THE BEST for your dog, this is the best place for you. When it comes to my dog Wakame, I'm uber protective. We both have abandonment issues! Ha. Wakame is going to be 8 years old and she NEVER stayed at a "boarding home" before so I was EXTREMELY picky and hesitant. She's had a few health issues as well, and the idea of leaving my only child with a place full of pups really caused me anxiety... Ami's place however, brought me comfort that I didn't think would exist in a dog boarding zone. It's very intimate, and I could tell that Wakame got the love she deserved while she was away, including lots of walks, treats, and bonding with other dogs. Her humble abode has dogs that are "zen". So if your dog is also mellow, chill, and needs lots of attention. This is the next best thing to taking your dog with you. It's like a mini vacation for your pooch as well! Ami will also send you updates - she may not have a video cam that the bigger chains provide, but I would trade that for the comfort and relief I had with Ami's sweet demeanor. You can tell she absolutely LOVES dogs and isn't just there because she needs the paycheck. She's there because she loves her job, and she is also selective with the dogs she will take in, which is a PLUS. She will also send you photos throughout the day and is very available when you text, call, or email. Very good communication. I initially was going to house Wakame only from Mon-Thurs, but BECAUSE of Ami's hospitality, I pushed my stay through Saturday. I can't recommend this place enough, but I think Wakame misses her! read more

I cannot begin to tell you how thankful I am for finding It's The Leash I Can do. Ami is so great with answering any questions you may have, and staying in contact with you throughout the process. As anyone with a pet knows, it can be a bit scary leaving your animal with someone you don't know. My dog walker John is GREAT! Any concerns I had were instantly gone after his first visit to meet my dog Romeo. While I am gone he is great with sending me pictures and updates on how my pup is doing. John goes above and beyond by not only walking my dog, but playing with him, feeding him, and working on tricks and obedience skills. I am so grateful to Its The Leash I Can Do. Ami & her staff are amazing. I've been using them at least 3 times a week for about a year now and they have never let me down. My dog is a rescue with some anxiety issues as well and they handle his problems perfectly. They have even taken care of him for a week or more with no problems. They really will take care of your pet as if they are their own. My only complaint is that I'm pretty sure my dog likes Ami more than he likes me. Oh well! read more

Just used Ami and Co for the first time to take care of our babies while we were out of town for a few days. Our previous sitter had just moved out of the LA area and we turned to Yelp to help us find a suitable replacement. ITLICD had all the prerequisites down - good reviews, ironically pun-filled name, and good rapport over email. We started the process about 8 weeks in advance of our trip and the first sitter fell through, but fear not, as Megan and John were more than capable replacements! Megan did the overnight stays with our terrible twosome and John handled the midday walks. They updated us regular with pictures via text and we always knew our babies were in good hands. Megan even cleared the yard of doggie chips that (embarassingly) long predated her. You didn't have to, but really, thanks. So if you're looking for a great group to care for your precious furry ones, look no further. It's the Leash I Can Do will do you right! read more

I was in a lurch. My usual dog-sitter cancelled at the last minute and everywhere I looked had either mixed reviews or required several days notice. I finally found the well-reviewed It's The Leash I Can Do. I contacted the proprietor, Ami, and apprised her of my situation. She was very understanding, asked a few questions, and then sent me the paperwork she needed me to fill out via email. I was saved! She took great care of my dear one and administered the necessary meds and provided me with text updates of how my dog was faring. This was a great comfort as I'd never left my dog with anyone she didn't already know before. So having daily updates was reassuring. I'd recommend It's The Leash I Can Do to anyone and should I need a dog sitter again, I'd happily leave my dog with her again. read more

It's the Leash I Can Do is a great dog walking company!! They are loving with my dog and super dependable. I know for certain that my dog is getting the royal treatment when I am not able to walk him! Every time I get home, there is a detailed note telling me how they spent their time together and how my dog behaved. We have been working on a few behavioral issues and it is very helpful to have someone else give feedback on progress. Cid spent last weekend with them and I felt secure leaving him in their capable and caring hands. It was hard to find a trustworthy and reliable business. Ami recently watched my cat, Jacoby while I was away for 2 1/2 weeks. She did a FANTASTIC job! Each time she went to visit, I received an update and photos via email! I returned home to find to my place looking just as I had left it, the plants actually looked better! I could tell that Ami had spent a good deal of time with Jacoby. I've been a customer since probably 2008? Just joined Yelp though, so forgive the tardiness of my glowing review, Ami & co! At first used only their overnight pet sitting service. Megan was awesome. I felt like my two pups were in excellent hands, and I love that she stays in your home with them. Then for about 2 years I also used their dog walking service and their hiking service about 2x/wk, when I couldn't get home at lunch to walk the pooches. Tip: The hiking service should only be used if your dog is super chill and doesn't mind being in a car with other dogs, one of mine loved it, the other... not so much. I recently had to move out of their coverage area and was just heartbroken. Lisa was a true pleasure and truly loved my pups. She was very responsible and always texted me when she had walked them and let me know if they had done all their business! Talk about thorough. ;) I'd recommend this service to anyone! God bless you Beth!! And of course Ami!! Our cat has been very sick, so we needed someone who could spend the night for 8 nights and administer medications, and send us updates on any specific, observed symptoms. It was a job that required a first-rate person, and that's what we got from It's The Leash I Can Do. I only found out about them from Yelp, so of course I was afraid to leave my baby with "just anyone." But the reviews were stellar, so I decided to give them a shot. Ami was terrific by phone. And Beth -- who did the actual sitting -- was FIRST RATE with everything: - She asked all the "right" questions to be sure our baby was covered in terms of food, medicine, etc. - We received frequent updates, including a video of a possible symptom - Our home was left in perfect order on our return We just spent a lot of money at a 5-star hotel where everything was taken care of for us. A real splurge! That was sort of what our cat received with the excellent help of Beth and Ami at It's The Leash I Can Do, at a rate we could afford. It's a such a relief to know Beth and Ami are there if we need them again. We recommend It's The Leash I Can Do wholeheartedly. Your pet is in excellent hands with Beth and Ami! read more

I travel extensively for work so I have had to leave my beloved dog, Winnie, sometimes for weeks at a time with It's The Leash I Can Do. My dog is a rescue and came with minor issues and a medical condition that required individualized attention. I used Ami's service for 6 years. My dog was mainly walked by 2 regular walkers (Sanae & Brandi). Both were beyond outstanding! They treated my puppy like he was their own, and it was adorable the way he would greet them every single day. I always felt good knowing my little guy was under their care (be it for a walk or an extended leave). They took him on various walks (from around the neighborhood to Griffith or Elysian Park). And on hot days they were extra careful not to push him too hard. I can't thank them enough. read more

Ami is amazing! When we've gone on trips, she's always taken incredibly good care care of our kitties. We've never seen them so relaxed and happy after we've been away. Ami always sends text messages and photos every day. She takes care of your pets like her own. Ami and Beth are the best. They are incredibly professional, responsible, and reliable. We've been using them for the past year to feed our senior cat who needs several medications in the morning and evening. When we are out of town, they send us text messages when they've visited just to let us know that everything is okay. Ami took wonderful care of our 12-year-old Dalmatian who's a bit skittish around other dogs but still loves her walks. We got a nice getaway to Catalina Island knowing Murphy was in good hands. These guys are great!! They sat with my diva cat over the holidays. She doesn't cozy up to a lot of people but she took to Ami right away. They took all the info on my cat in case of emergency. Before the scheduled date, they came and met my cat and played with her and petted her. They are extremely thorough and responsible. Fees are really reasonable for all the service they provide, including photos of their visit. I will definitely use them again!! The one who came for my visit was Ami, and you'll just love her. read more

It often appears that my cats like Ami more than me! Pets just know right away that she is an animal lover. Ami is honest, dependable and kind. Ami is incredible! We've been using her since our puppy was 3 months old and have never used anyone else. She's great with our dogs, which include a strong willed puppy and an anxious little rescue. Ami is the best! I'm new to LA and I needed someone to watch my two cats while I was away. I'm so glad that I picked It's the Leash I Can Do. Ami met me at my house for a pre-visit and she met my cats and went over all of the details with me. She was thorough and kind. She has a very warm personality and she will make you feel at ease leaving your pets for a few days. The prices are good too - $20/per day for a 30 min cat visit. While I was gone, Ami sent me pics every day via text and let me know how my cats were. I felt really good knowing that they were being taken care of and that I received updates. When I got home, my cats were happy and not at all standoffish - like they usually are when I leave them. I highly recommend this service to anyone who needs a pet sitter. I completely trust Ami and she is very reliable. There really is no need to look further for a great pet sitter. read more

Ami is the best pet sitter in town, hands down. I recently moved and was looking for a new pet sitter to watch my cat over the holidays. I have an elderly cat who is a huge love bug and I wanted to leave him in very good hands. Ami is totally attentive and took amazing care of my little guy. My wife and I used [ It`s The Leash I Can Do ] To take care of our 2 dogs when we go out of town. Emily does fantastic job. She will text you and let you know how your pet`s are doing. She will also send you pictures of your pet`s. I would recommend her to anyone who needs a sitter. read more

This service is incredible. Ami is one of the kindest, most dedicated and flexible people I have ever met. She is always enthusiastic, extremely punctual and reliable. She has been a god-send for my new puppy and I. Whether its helping with food, medication, reinforcing training techniques or just playing with my puppy, Ami is game and gets the job done. Few things stress us out like the feeling that our dogs have not gotten the care and attention they need on a long work day. With Ami and the gang taking care of our two girls several times a week, we rarely have to worry anymore. Ami has been walking our 8-year-old golden and our 12-year-old chocolate lab for almost 10 months now, and our dogs have simply fallen for her. They're not anxious and crazy when we come home, and we know the dogs lover her. Ami is flexible and reliable. She's gone above and beyond for us on numerous occasions. Ami and Corinna are great! We felt very comfortable going on vacation for a week after we met with Corinna. She took great care of our two cats and of our apartment, she even came to our apartment on an un-scheduled visit day to close our windows because it was raining! She kept in contact with us and let us know how our cats were doing. We will definitely be using them again for our next vacation! read more

We started It's The Leash I Can Do in 2007. We service areas such as Los Feliz, Silverlake, Atwater Village, Hollywood, Echo Park, Koreatown, and Larchmont Village. We add service areas all the time, so please call to see if we service your area. We board dogs only. Our boarding house is located between downtown and Pasadena in the 90031 area code - 110 freeway and Ave. 43 exit.

Meet the Business Owner: Ami B.

Ami started It's The Leash I Can Do when she saw a need for quality pet care in Los Angeles and wanted to be able to take her dog to work. After working in the event industry for over 10 years, she took a break from corporate America and now spends her days doing dog walks and cat visits. She and her rescue dog, Pinto, often have client's pets in their house for overnight stays. In addition to her passion for pets, Ami enjoys reading, seeing live music and watching movies. It's The Leash I Can Do covers a wide area of Los Angeles, including Silverlake, Hollywood, Los Feliz, Echo Park, Mount Washington, Larchmont Village, Highland Park and West Hollywood. During a scheduled walk, the walker lost my house keys, which had my full address labeled on them. I was in therapy and unable to respond for about 30 minutes. When I did, I had to explain that the keys were labeled with my address; only then did the company bring up calling a locksmith. As a result, my 10-year-old dog was left outside with the walker for an hour, and would have been outside for much longer if a friend hadn't picked him up. It took 3 hours to resolve this issue. The company did pay for the locksmith, but communication was limited unless I initiated it in regard to status of the locksmith, and the owner said she would look for the keys but did not. I was also charged a cancellation fee on a separate day, despite explaining I cancelled because my grandmother had passed away and I had stayed home from work. They also charge $10 extra for "a late booking". Based on this experience and the safety concerns involved, I would not use this service again. The owner communicated with me respectfully but again my safety (single woman living alone) and my dog's safety were jeopardized - while the issue was resolved I'm shocked it happened in the first place. I'm sure this company delivers great services outside of this mistake but I can't keep this to myself as it was extremely upsetting and has NEVER happened in my 10 years of being a dog owner using multiple services.

Then, once he recovered from that, had a fever that almost killed him and had to be hospitalized again. We had to keep him quarantined for a while and away from my other dog (a 7 year old Pomeranian at the time) and get all his vaccinations from the beginning. He was scared of literally every single noise and had anxiety about just about everything. Over time, he developed extreme food aggression and we were worried for the safety of my little Pom. He had been attacked a few times to the point of actual injury and it was extremely stressful for everyone. I was at my wits end and I felt like I had tried everything to help Gunnar (my Shiba) and protect Simba (my Pom). I did a lot of research and stumbled upon Jenina and sent her a message for private sessions where she would come to my apartment once a week. I believe I only used her for a little over a month but I am eternally grateful. The level of aggression Gunnar displayed was so dangerous that my roommate and I actually have been bitten with blood trying to protect Simba from harm where food is involved. The issue was that he wasn't aggressive with all foods and we were unaware the extent until it was too late (ex. we thought it was only wet food so we were giving a chew stick to them separately where I would have Simba sitting next to me on the couch and Gunnar would be on the floor away from Simba with my roommate and the switch was so sudden----from sweet to seemingly no warning lunging at Simba----I stuck my leg out to protect Simba and he bit my leg instead). I feel like at this point, a regular human being would give Gunnar up, but that wasn't an option. It wasn't an option when he came to me dying from Parvo, it wasn't an option when he had an almost fatal fever, and it wasn't going to be an option for me now. I was determined to find a way to help him because he is my baby and my responsibility. The vet suggested I contact a behavioral specialist and when I did, VCA told me the earliest appointment they had was months later. Fed up with waiting, I found Jenina. In a month's time, she had given me the tools to fix a seemingly impossible situation. Make no mistake---she made me work for it. She might come across brash to some people but she is very direct and straight to the point. She doesn't coddle you and makes sure she lets you know what you need to do because while the session is for dogs, it is actually more like training the parent. She gives you "homework" and training info and is only willing to help you if YOU do the work. Now, it wasn't a complete fix. He still has anxiety outdoors or unknown noises as well as food aggression but it is nowhere near what he used to be. Before Jenina, Gunnar couldn't even take a step outside the apartment building let alone go for a walk. Three years later, Simba has sadly since passed but he has a little brother that he is extremely patient with as he acts like a typical annoying little brother), his food aggression has gone down from 100 to 30, and we go out to all sorts of places. He is THRIVING and this is all thanks to Jenina. My roommate and I are on high alert and know what to look for in terms of triggers and are very quick to de-escalate aggression situations. We try our best not to avoid known triggers and we work with him every day to allow him to be his best self. He is the sweetest boy and we are so glad he's been able to show it instead of being overshadowed by aggression and anxiety. She also gave Gunnar his nickname---Gunny! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. I am so sorry it took this long to leave this review but thank you so much for saving us. If we had listened to the VCA behavioral specialist that basically called Gunnar a monster and suggested we give him up, he probably would have been euthanized somewhere. We owe you so much.

I originally intended to leave a positive review, especially after being offered a discount…read moreincentive to do so before even seeing my dogs. However, after picking them up and fully evaluating their condition, I feel obligated to leave an honest account of my experience. My dogs were boarded here for 21 days, and I paid $3,340.29 with the expectation that they would be properly cared for. When I saw them at pickup, I was immediately alarmed by how thin they appeared. At first I questioned whether I was overreacting, so I weighed them once we got home. Based on their recorded weights, they lost approximately 18% of their body weight during their stay. The more I look at them and evaluate their condition, the more upset and disturbed this makes me. In addition to the severe weight loss, both dogs also had fresh cuts and scars that appeared consistent with having been in fights or altercations while boarded. This was never communicated to me during their stay, and seeing visible injuries on top of their physical condition was extremely upsetting. I documented their condition with video and reviewed everything more carefully afterward. Two days before pickup, I received an email stating they "seemed a bit hungry after eating their food." I had provided very specific feeding instructions, including a digital scale to measure 200 grams of food per feeding, twice daily. When I checked the scale afterward, I noticed the units had been changed from grams, and I also became concerned they may have been weighing the food incorrectly by including the bowl weight. What upsets me most is that their veterinary records clearly documented their healthy weight immediately before boarding. The condition they were returned in was not acceptable and should never have happened under professional supervision. I do not believe this was intentional cruelty, but I do believe there was serious negligence and incompetence in their care. The email sent shortly before pickup now feels more like an attempt to establish concern in advance rather than address the issue appropriately. I trusted this facility with my dogs' health and wellbeing, and I will never trust them with their care again.

When our regular dog sitter couldn't take care of our Boston Terrier, we were left to find an alternative. Thankfully we found a business card for It's The Leash I Can Do at our neighborhood pet store. Ami responded very quickly to my initial email, and the next day I scheduled a meeting with her and her dog Willow. Our dog Buddy is a rescue dog, and very sensitive about being left with strangers. But it was a very positive sign that he immediately warmed up to Ami. The fact that Buddy seemed very comfortable, and that Ami provided a comforting and welcoming setting for him made traveling out of town all the more reassuring. During our trip, Ami even provided email and photo updates! When we arrived back home, she was kind enough to bring Buddy back to our place. Buddy was certainly glad to see us, and yet we could tell by his playful and relaxed demeanor that he had enjoyed his own little doggy vacation at Ami's house. Buddy's behavior clearly demonstrated that he had received extra special attention and care in her hands. I highly recommend It's The Leash I Can Do for dog walking or boarding services. Lisa came thru yet again with a stellar vet recommendation and my dog is on the mend and doing well. Angie came over to our home for an interview and we loved her right away. More importantly, so did our girl Beatrice. We went out in the front yard and handed Angie the leash. I'm convinced that my dog behaves better with Angie than with me...go figure. we typically only need a walker a few times a month - but when we do, there's never a schedule problem. She gives me feedback after the walk via text (oh and btw, she will not answer her phone when she's with a dog! love that!) or she can leave a note for you, which ever you prefer. like a lot of people, we spend a lot of time & money and give a lot of love to our dog - she is our child - and we won't settle for anything less than the best. We are confident and relaxed knowing that Angie is there for our girl. Lucky Dog is a very professional service, we are so happy and thankful...and now we have a Lucky Dog, too.
