So, here's a scenario. A 10am oil change appt, called in advance so we were all set with the specs, basically working off a high rec from friends. I leave the car. I think, what, 2 hours? They tell the first lie: they are taking it right in. Then I get a call about an hour later. Do I need the car at a specific time? I say, not exactly but not all day. What time are you thinking. Ohhhh, we will get back to you asap. Lie 2. That never happened. Three hours later I call. Told it will def be done in 2 hours and they will call. Lie 3. You keeping count? Call again twice two hours later. Told I will call you back in 10 mins. Lie 4. Do you think it's over? Nahhh, I only get them on the phone when they are trying to upsell me on things they have no idea about as I'm a new customer, so recommending work based on ether. Then comes the last lie of the day. Lie 5: will call. you back in 10 mins to give you a time to pick it up. Alas, not a word. I get in an uber to get to them before 5:30....so basically 8 hours for an oil change at this point. My car is outside with the few things in the passenger seat thrown onto the dashboard (water bottle, tissue box, hand sanitizer). Never got a call. Just checked out without one word of apology or one honest statement about what created the backup other than 'we've had a busy day' so apparently appointments are meaningless. Hopefully the actual car service does not align with their hideous customer service. A new low for auto repair. Just staggering lack of courtesy. read more

Over 2 weeks ago I submitted a request for an estimate to have the front and back brakes done and to replace the windshield. Unfortunately, no one could be bothered to respond. I was a bit surprised because I heard their ads on NPR and saw positive reviews for this business. Further, their website seem to encourage filling out an estimate form on the website rather than calling. I agreed with this method because I realize car repair businesses are generally overwhelmed. I waited a few days then a week and finally just let it go. I am sticking with my Volvo dealer. I wasted my time thinking this place was a professional business. If they can't even respond to a simple request, I wonder how professional, and whether they even would use genuine Volvo parts? No thanks, PASS. read more

I've been taking cars here for years. Have always been satisfied. But recently there have been changes--sand not for the better. I needed basic service on my car--oil change, emissions test, battery test. They kept it for seven days. I called to check several times and was told they were still doing the battery test. Finally, I showed up and asked to get the car. While I was waiting, I watched them drive it into the service area and the employee working the office came in and said they needed to replace the battery and were doing that, at that point, and also doing the emissions test and it would take about an hour. I can only assume if I hadn't gone in and sat there, I'd still be waiting for the service to be done. read more

Be careful this business claims that they can install paint protection film (ppf). I left my 2021 Corvette with Independent Vehicle Service for two weeks after they originally indicated it would be done within a week. When I was able to pickup up the car, edges of the ppf were already peeling/not adhering properly. Additional there were bubbles in the film and dirt trapped under the film. I was even told that the two installers they have, we're having g trouble with the creases and angles of the body. As I was requesting a refund and for them to remove the ppf. A Tesla owner came up to me and said that they were having the same problems with the ppf on their car. read more

I am very impressed with IVS. I am in and out of Albuquerque. I took my 2001 XC70 to this shop 4 years ago to have a minor repair. It was done very quickly and professionally. Since then I have taken my Volvo to them for major repairs. Pro shop. Good to Excellent. The techs are on top of the needed values and priorities of what needs to be done. The mechanics are all pros. The owner, Daniel , is the real deal. If you are not happy with what has been done , he makes sure it is corrected I take my Volvo to a shop in Santa Cruz and they were impressed with IVS as well. I am a disabled person that took my vehicle to get checked because of engine light. Met Mike, took my car and fixed it, he also went the extra mile for me. Second time took vehicle for other service, told me it was going to cost me another 900 dollars, ended up coming back because after second time, my light came back on, they first said it was my alternator, then it was the battery, I paid another 250 for battery, took vehicle, 2 months later I'm back because light on again. Left car there for 2 weeks with nothing done, just left outside parked. Paid 285 dollars just for I don't know what. The female at front desk informed me that I needed another alternator and belt for another 1900 dollars, I said I replaced belt, she said no it needs to be replaced. I left establishment angered, because of all the money I paid, remember I'm on disability, limited income. Well after I took vehicle, took it for an oil change, light went off, where's my 285 dollars? For storage?? I feel that they messed more with my car than repairing it. Be aware of money hungry, mongrels. I want my money back, I had noooo satisfaction. She has me do a false Google review, just so they look good. NO GOOD. BEWARE. I felt discriminated everytime after. Good service. Decent pricing. They always have been able to get me in for an oil change when I was coming thru town. (Which is why I wait til I am!) The only complaint I have is that they have been slow to answer email appointment requests, so I just call. Amending this review since my car is hours late and everyone has successfully ignored us for 10 minutes while we waited for an explanation without even greeting us. Amended again: Someone did finally come out and motivate someone else to finish my car. They comped the oil change, which was nice, but not as nice as getting out of here and on the road north more than 45 minutes ago (not into Friday afternoon traffic) when I stopped in 7 hours after dropping it off would have been. read more

I contacted IVS to have my radiator on my 2007 Audi A4 Quatro flushed. Instead, they did a full diagnostic which I didn't authorize and sent me an overpriced itemized list of repairs for a little over $3,00.00.Then after carefully choosing another mechanic, I discovered that the tire rods on my vehicle had been loosened and the damage that IVS claimed did not exist! However, loosening my tire rods could have resulted in death. My total cost for repairing what really needed to be repaired was a little over $600.00. My car now runs great! Consumers do NOT take your car to IVS! I am giving one star, but would give less if it was an option! read more

Would not recommend. These guys recommended totally uneeded repairs, either to make a buck or because they just didn't really check it out. Either way, consumer beware. My passenger window looked to be off track, and (this is Albuquerque...you just can't have a car window left open) I had to get it taken somewhere, so we went to IVS. Sal, a service/sales guy @ IVS took it. We waited an hour and they called us, quoting about $200 for parts and $200 labor. "Apparently" my window motor and regulator were totally damaged/failed and I needed a new replacement. Something felt "off" about what they said needed to be done. They also said they couldn't move it back into place, even just to help keep my car from being exposed. Sal had very little interest in doing anything helpful/anything but selling. We decided to take it to Perfection Honda in Rio Rancho for a second/expert opinion. I called, and they recognized it was urgent/important, and had me come right in for service. They looked at it and thought on the spot it was only off track. Their tech took 20 minutes, and told me I only had a screw loose! No broken motor or anything! They were so kind and didn't even charge me for an easy repair. They just cares that I was satisfied. I am so glad I trusted my gut, got a 2nd opinion from a good shop, and stayed away from IVS/Sal the salesman. These days, no one wants to pay for a $400 repair that's totally unneeded. I even called IVS after I got it fixed just to make sure they knew for the future to take a second look. Sal told me that perfection probably just did a "patch" job, that his guys were right, AND for the cherry on top, that if I wanted it REALLY repaired that I should take it back to them. LOL! To get $400 of unneeded work on a window that works like a charm thanks to the reputable techs at Perfection? Perfection actually took the time to figure out what was wrong, repaired it, and saved me $400 I never had to spend in the first place. They proved that it wasn't broken. The proof is in the pudding. I use to like them and they have done good work in the past but not the last time I went to them. It was my battery which was under warranty and they misdiagnosed another issue with my car. It turned out not to be a coolant tank but a much bigger issue. The owner sat on his computer while I spoke with another sales man and I use that term loosely. Never got involved. When I spoke with the owner on the phone he again did nothing to resolve the problem or give a discount for the bigger issue. I didn't need a coolant tank which I was charged $200 for. I would never take my Volvo there again. They take advantage of women or simply don't care to take care of their mistakes. read more

I have used IVS twice. First it was for a truck and then an RV with difficult diagnosis that other mechanics could not solve. They solved the problems quickly and reasonably. Not only are their reviews great but my experiences with them have been great. I just found out that they have 2 mechanics certified on Prius Hybrids. 'No more trips to Toyota service departments for me. I don't ever plan on buying a new car now that I have found IVS. read more

We have just moved to ABQ and needed a auto repair service we could trust.. Hard to find. I looked on Yelp and found IVS. That was a lucky day for sure. They are amazing!! From the first phone contact to the waiting room , they were super professional. They treated me like I had been a client for many years. Their shop is extremely clean and organized. I took my truck into have it inspected before a long trip. I had just had the oil changed at another business close to the house. They not only inspected my truck but they corrected the mistakes that the other business made during the oil change! The people at IVS really know what they are doing. I took my 2004 toyota 4runner to these guys for an OIL change. That's it. My first issue was that I called to schedule an appointment ahead of time as they had said I needed to. So I did. I scheduled the appointment for 1:00pm. On the day I arrived the guy in the front office told me that everyone was going to be at lunch until 1:45..... SO WHY DIDNT YOU TELL ME!?! So I have to walk around a not so awesome part of town for 45 minutes until they apparently could actually start..... When I get back I IVS to pick up my truck they still have it on the lift, lower it down and pull it out. I leave on vacation the week after and get back to my truck. Still running ok. But my Tire Pressure monitoring system is on and I check the tires low and behold my tires should be at 32psi and they went off the rating on the tire for max psi. Oh wait... One was at 44 one at 30 another at 35 and another at 25. For a first time local customer and the apparent lack of knowledge (you just gotta read the label on the inside of the door) I will not be back. I'm nervous that when they filled up my tires that they may have used standard air instead of nitrogen read more

We found out about IVS on Yelp and the amazing reviews convinced us to try them and we have been using them ever since! They are awesome! Their prices are reasonable, their work is top notch and they even tell you if something needs to be fixed but won't really affect the performance of your car so you can decide if you want it fixed- they found a broken latch on our hood and said the labor would be free because it would only take a couple of minutes to install! IVS was recommended by a random Volvo owner I ran into, and have never taken my car anywhere else and my vehicle runs great. This is supposedly a reputable Volvo shop in Albequerque.. I was on a trip from CA to TX and my alternator went out in Grants, 84 miles from ABQ. I dropped my car off overnight and called to ask about the services the next day. I specifically asked if they had an alternator in stock, as I wanted it replaced. They charged me $100 to fix an "excitor wire" and sent me on the road to Santa Fe. I broke down 1 mile from my destination, with a dead charging system. The alternator NEEDED replacement. Oh, they also tried to charge me $200 for a new door handle (for a 1980 volvo) when all of the parts were intact and needed to be reconnected. (springs) Another AAA tow later, I was at a decent shop in Santa Fe where my car was fixed quickly and completely. Would not recommend... Change your own alternator and avoid these clowns. read more

Vehicle: 2006 Mini Cooper S I was having trouble getting my oil filter cover off. I normally change my own oil but for whatever reason, the filter cover was stuck. I took it to IVS and was immediately greeted by a friendly front desk staff. They informed me that they were fully booked until after the weekend, however, he sent out a mechanic with the right tool to get the filter off. He changed it right there on the street and sent me on my way! I highly recommend this shop, especially if you have a "special" car such as a Mini or BMW. Thanks IVS! read more
