I don't leave reviews. RZ deserves one. Im not surprised to see everyone else has a similar experience to me. I needed a new starter. Pat's price was 30% less than other shops in the area. He exclaimed to me he was surprised it was so expensive, but I already knew the starter for my model was much more labor intensive to replace than it is for other vehicles. I immediately felt I was dealing with an honest and virtuous shop, this is important for people who don't know about their car!!! I brought my car in later than agreed, don't be like me, but Pat was friendly about it, had another job lined up, and got my job done the next day. It's difficult to find good value in the modern market, mechanics or otherwise, people like Pat and his shop are invaluable, I was so incredibly relieved to have found a shop of this caliber. Wonderful experience with R & Z Service. We have a 1996 Rialta motor home that broke a belt and stranded us in Albuquerque. I love this place! They were courteous, fair and kind. The battery light came on in my elderly friend's Lexus, we called R and Z and asked if we could get the car assessed and they said come in an hour. On the way to the shop everything went out in the car, power steering, dashboard, everything electrical. We barely made it to the shop. They were helpful, they explained everything, were kind and professional. They were able to diagnose and repair the car the same day, for a fair price. Would recommend them 100%. read more

Pat is the man. He fixed the oil leakage on my 2015 Jeep JKU. Got my diagnosis from the dealership and they immediately double down that it was the rear main seal ($1200) to get that repaired. Took my Jeep over to Pat and his crew, they literally showed me in my bay that it is not the rear main seal, but the oil filter housing. I appreciate the transparency & the honest work. They repaired my Jeep for $340 parts & labor, diagnosed the real issue and relatively fast as well. Thank you for that, it's rare to get that customer care these days. read more

I drive all the way from Los Alamos to have Pat work on our cars, one Audi and one VW....we found him through a recommendation from Foreign Aide two years ago when we lived in the east mountains, and we won't go to anyone else now! Pat's carside manner is second to none he is always calm and very easy going...always willing to help out and a wealth of knowledge. The guys he has working for him are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! They have helped me fab up stuff I couldn't find anywhere and it always works great!! I have always been very happy with everything they have done for me. I didn't get a chance to have them install it because I'm just traveling through town and they are booked up for over a week but they referred me to another local shop to get the work done. I first came here in 1981 with a crippled Karmann-Ghia (no kidding!). I was so impressed with these guys, I have been coming here ever since. R & Z is a family-owned business, and they take very good and PERSONAL care of their customers. You always know who will greet you, and who will fix your car. Just as important, they will never try to scam you about what your car needs, or put in used or cheap parts and charge for new. They started out being a VW shop (R and Z Service for Volkswagens), which is why I first went there. They have branched out, and are now just R and Z Service. But even they were only VW, I brought these vehicles to them: 1974 Karmann Ghia 1977 International Scout 1977 Porsche 924 1989 Subaru Legacy 1999 Dodge Neon 2002 Honda 2004 Subaru Outback Every one of those cars was fixed to perfection. My hubby took his dream car--the 924--to four different shops, incl the German guy who was a Porsche specialist, until I persuaded him to try R and Z--who fixed it straight away. I have never had to bring a car back to them twice for the same problem: when they fix it, it's FIXED. If I were trapped on a desert island somewhere, I *might* let someone else look under the hood of my car. Otherwise, it's R and Z or no-one. I highly recommend them. read more

Spoke with Pat my first time here. I was looking for a gas cap & he was out of extras, unfortunately. So, I asked him about a few other services I need to accomplish on my V-Dub soon (replace flywheel, which involves pulling the engine & getting the spacing precise & update the brakes). He told me he wouldn't charge much for putting on the new flywheel if I can bring in the engine myself (whoopee!) & to check in often if other small services are needed. I appreciate his professionalism in speaking with me about mechanics, in which I am of course not as versed. I will definitely be returning in the future! read more

Pat's R & Z service is consistently top notch. Honesty, Integrity, Trustworthy are how I would descrive R & Z! I have not once ever felt mistreated or mislead by Pat. My experience is that repairs are consistently cheaper then I expect, and sometimes even cheaper then what Pat expects! I Just got my Buick back for what I was expecting to be a $200 dollar repair, that ended up just being a $50 dollar repair. If you don't have a mechanic in the family, R & Z is the next best thing! read more
