Very cute restaurant. Beautiful decor inside. Went behind the building for parking but doesn't seem like it was for retail. Sushi was a bit on the pricey side, but the fish was fresh. Poke was good and spicy. Not sure if they can omit spice, so keep that in mind. We only had the poke and salmon roll, after ordering, I saw other people order their noodles and honestly that looked better than the sushi. We will try the noodles next time! I like the ordering online aspect when dining in, it makes it really easy to split the bill. Attentive service and great sushi, I would definitely recommend. I would probably not order the hibachi chicken again because the chicken was a bit bland but the noodles that came with it were great and they are available in a side order. We split the seaweed salad between 4 and we all really enjoyed it. Also the pork belly bao is a must.

This place is the only sushi place in downtown Amherst that I have continuously gone back to. It has a lot of options and a really cute, cozy atmosphere. The wait staff is always friendly and they also have a decent drink menu. I would definitely say Osaka in Northhampton has more options and better sushi, but for a place really close to campus, Iya is the best. The bumble crunch roll is 10/10, it has this garlic sauce on top and is my whole friend group's go-to. I would say their Philadelphia roll needs a little work and they are a little bit skimpy on the avocado in most of their rolls. I love their lunch specials also!

The waitress was nice, but management was ass. My party was given attitude for using a gift card, and the payment process is peculiar. You are requested to tip before receiving your food/eating. I ordered the duck ramen and though the flavors were alright, the soy sauce egg in my ramen was rancid-- I should've smelled it first but unfortunately I didn't, and took a bite. Not only this, but I found a whole garlic clove and large piece of ginger in my bowl as well. Yes, cloves of garlic are a common topping in ramen but it should not be a part of the bowl if I didn't add it myself. The ginger was disgusting to bite into. I had a horrible experience.

Had a great time at IYA Sushi and Noodle Kitchen in Amherst! I've gotten takeout from here but had not dined in until last night. The ambiance is cozy and everything is very new looking. We ordered off of their mobile ordering system at our table which was super user friendly. We got the vegetable lo mein, katsu bao and two sushi rolls. Their sushi is super yummy and fresh. The lo mein was definitely different from other lo mein I've had, but it was still very good. Overall, good experience and will go back!

Second time trying this place. First time I ordered the gyoza as an appetizer and was very disappointed as it tasted like it came from a generic grocery store freezer section. This time I ordered the pork belly boa's and thought the pork belly was good but the boa itself wasn't the best. Sushi was ordered both times and the same result as the appetizers, somewhat satisfied but also disappointed. Ordered the Tokyo style ramen spicy both times and was very happy with it. They seem to use the same broth for that ramen and the duck version as my friend ordered that one. Definitely worth it for the ramen but that's about it. We also ordered two poke bowls to-go which we opened that night. To say the least, we didn't eat it because we were concerned about the freshness of the fish.

The ramen noodles were a little overcooked, but the sashimi was good. Service and ambiance were good.

Not only did I feel welcomed, the food was also comforting. For two of my friends and I, we ordered four dishes. Everything came out quickly and almost all at once! We started with the seaweed salad which was fresh and crunchy. The tteok boki was an absolute highlight. Add gimmari (noodles wrapped in seaweed and deep fried) and cheese, you will not regret it! These were the perfect complement to the sweet and spicy sauces and chewy rice cakes. The Kalbi was the most delicious. Great sized pieces of meat that packed a punch with flavor. I love the pieces that had some fat and char. And the jjajangmyeon noodles were bouncy and coated with the black bean sauce. Every bite was better than the next. This spot was very relaxed and casual. The servers were so hospitable and friendly. I loved our experience and I will definitely come back for my favorites. I'm a Buffalo, NY native folks, and thus have had my share of great chicken wings. Johnny's wings were on par with anything I've had in the Queen City. My only suggestion to make it real Buffalo style is thick blue cheese dip. The other meals served were amazing - two pasta dishes and the fried chicken. All tasty. Everyone loved their dishes. The prices were very fair for the quality and quantity of food brought to the table. I'm surprised at the 4.1 Yelper average. The meal and service we had tonight was excellent.

The night we finally went was for Zelda night. Knowing my boyfriend, we all know he mah be the biggest Zelda fan in western Massachusetts so obviously we had to go! They had one tabletop Zelda game in the facility, it would have been nice to have a few of them so more of us could play/immerse in the Zelda night. They also had Mario playing on the walls which threw me off a bit. There were free stickers all over the bar along with some "rupees" which was a cute touch. It was pretty easy to order the drinks and food, and the staff behind the counter were all very nice. We tried 2/3 drinks and enjoyed both of them. Two food options were made, Hearty Monster Rice Balls, and Meat Pies. The rice balls were honestly pretty good, nothing fancy but good. The Meat Pies filling was good, but the entirety of it was pretty greasy and oily which was a little disappointing. I do hope they do another Zelda night and offer more food options. If they do that, we will definitely go again!

Nearly everything that's been ordered from myself or someone else I've gone with has been yummy. My eight year old absolutely loved the beef hibachi and if it were up to her, she'd eat it every night. If recalling correctly, the only food item I've ever not been thrilled about was their tteokbokki. Normally they have a little kick to them and Kansai's was very sweet. Still enjoyed the dish but I do wish it wasn't as sweet. Usually when we walk in they have us choose whatever table we would like to sit at which is also a plus. Especially when my daughter is in tow because sometimes her childhood whimsy gets a little loud. When I come back to town to visit family, this place is usually our go-to and I'm not upset about it! The one thing I would knock a star for is that I do think its a little overpriced compared to other restaurants such as these. **Please correct me if I am wrong but I also believe the owner of Kansai owns Kisara in Easthampton which is also very yummy!**

It has a decent sized dining area with a large bar for drinks and several TVs scattered throughout. My wife and I met her sister and son for dinner tonight. Let's start with the good. Huge menu with multiple choices of Asian inspired food to choose from. From ramen to hibachi to sushi they have a fantastic selection to choose from. The food itself is also very good. We tried the beef bulgogi appetizer, eel special roll, golden spicy lobster roll, Alaska roll, mt tom roll and chicken hibachi. All had fantastic flavor and the rolls were presented on a huge plate lined up next to each other. Now we describe the bad (or unfortunate). We were greeted by a nice young gentleman who seated us and gave us menus and water. As we sat looking at the giant menu trying to narrow our choices I realized that this guy who seated us was also our waiter. We put in our order and got comfortable. I noticed that this guy wasn't just the host, he was the only waiter in the whole place! Not only that he was also the bartender and the person doing take out. He had 7-8 tables of people plus dealing with take out etc. Our sushi rolls came after a good 20 minute wait. After about 10 more minutes our appetizer tacos came (isn't the appetizer first??) then after another 5-10 minutes we finally got the hibachi. Slow slow and slow. This poor guy working couldn't have done anything about this. I worked in food service for 40 plus years and realized what was happening. Some would just blame the waiter and his tip would suffer. That's wrong! The owners should not only should be aware of this lack of service but should have stepped in to help in times like these. Shame on them! I don't mind waiting for good food but being called a "bistro" you should be a step above the others. Especially with these prices in today's market. Be aware that you might be waiting a bit for your food.
