Got seated right away however our waiter was very rude when we asked for a moment when he came to ask us if we wanted anything to drink....kinda snapped at us. And then instead of checking ming back and checking to see if we were ready to order he just kept walking by us...never even said I will be right there or anything. I gave this place a second and my last.The pork fried rice is awful.It's yellow and has no flavor.In a way it kind of looked like couscous .The general chicken was basically some frozen battered chicken with some really sweet sauce thrown on it.It says spicy but it's not.The wonton soup they gave with the dinner was just like a cup of hot water with one overcooked barely stuffed wonton.I wanted it to be better than the last time but it was worse. read more

My husband and I live about 35 minutes away and have been looking for a good place to get pho, so we stopped in for lunch while on our way to Home Depot across the street. We were a little put off by the weird, messy entryway, but the hostess was cheerful and greeted us right away and sat us at a table. The restaurant could use some maintenance and a deep clean, but seemed like a typical divey spot. We ordered a scorpion bowl, chicken wings, and each of us ordered the pho with beef. Everything came out quickly and was hot. The chicken wings and scorpion bowl were decent, but the pho was scary. The meat was a weird gray color and was absolutely not fresh. The broth was weak and the veggies were wilted. We had such high hopes but will not likely be back. I'm giving 3 stars because the service was very good. read more

The food here was great! Everything tasted fresh. We got the General Tso and it was tasty and still crunchy, which is what we always look for. The service was very good. Got attended quickly and everyone was very nice. This was the third time going there and this place still hasn't disappointed. read more

I was given a 50 dollar gift card to this place for Christmas..yeah 50 bucks WOW. Anyhow I've never been to this restaurant before so I didn't know what to expect. I live in town but usually go to the Wok or China Gourmet. I have to say I was very pleased with my food I got. Generals chicken, boneless ribs, vegetable lo mein, and more. The friends I was with were all happy about their food too. The only thing I'd complain about after visiting was the portions of food seemed smaller then your usual Chinese restaurant. We arrived and asked for a table for two. The place was totally empty. The hostess said, "We are only open for 30 more minutes." What? So do you not want to seat us? You will seat us but we will be expected to woof down the meal and be out in 30 minutes? We were seated and a waiter rushed to our table. We ordered sushi and miso immediately. We were told the sushi bar was closed. What? Thirty minutes before closing? WHY are you in business, I wonder? So, we quickly ordered Chinese substitutes. The tea was brought quickly and was luke warm. WHAT? Luke warm tea? In a Chinese restaurant? What does it take to serve hot tea? Not much. The miso was delivered. It was also dilute and luke warm, like being made quickly with warm tap water. Ever try eating luke warm miso? Pretty gross. Out comes the roaring vacuum cleaner. Entrees arrived. Both were hot, but totally without flavor. We were out of there in a total of 25 minutes. Bill was $29. This experience is the kind that drives any possibility of return customers right out the window. Not again. read more

Love this place. They've got tiki drinks & their delivery is hot & fast. What's not to like? They have all your old-school faves like sweet & sour chicken, moo shu pork, and pupu platters. I find their sauces often tend to be more on the sweet side, so if you like your Chinese more sugary than spicy, this is your joint. All ingredients are fresh & everything comes out steaming hot. Great variety, too, with sushi & some Vietnamese specialties included on the menu. Our local go-to for Chinese since moving to Greenfield. read more

My wife and I have been eating here and getting to go orders for years. Tonight w place a to go order and when we got home it was wrong. We ordered Szechuan chicken but got something completely different. We called and we were told that we got the correct food. REALLY! It's not like we have had it before! Stopped in at New Fortune for take out. We bought some sushi, fried rice, dumplings and boneless spare ribs. The sushi was fresh, and the prices have to be the best in town. The dumplings were not greasy, the spare ribs were cooked perfectly, but the shrimp fried rice wasn't the best I have had. I do have to say though that the shrimp in the rice was fresh, and not those mini frozen shrimp, Overall, I prefer the sushi at New Fortune over any other spot in Greenfield, and I like the fact that the staff is always pleasant and welcoming. Nope. Nope. Nope. Thai tea tastes like a powder mix. Boba consistency is wrong! It is not supposed to be fall apart soft. It is supposed to be chewy. Ordered the chefs specialty noodles. Opened the box and it looked and smelled like mucus. Seafood coated in mucus. Ordered the four happiness and the pork is not fresh at all. Will not be back. Very nice staff.....just got take out as they were about to close when I walked in, but the place looked very clean. Only ordered wings and house fried rice since they were about to close. Had a beer while I waited that was ICE cold. Wings were very good and the rice was good as well. The shrimp in the rice tasted a little off too me but had no ill effects after downing a few of them. Ordered from New Fortune recently. Food was delivered like usual. After serving my family, I got halfway down the to go box and saw something blue poking through the chicken and vegetables. I thought, well that isn't a color I'd expect to see. So I poked around again and to my horror, I found the finger tip of a blue rubber glove mixed in my food! I could not believe me eyes- I was completely disgusted. Of course, I immediately called the restaurant back. To my surprise, I was told the cooks don't wear gloves when preparing food. So basically no one could explain where the glove came from or how it ended up in my to go box. Still to this day, I don't know how the glove ended up in my food- and I'm not sure what's worse: The fact that the cooks don't wear gloves when preparing food- or the fact that some unexplainable used latex glove mysteriously appeared in my food. Gave it another try a couple weeks later as a dine in. Right from the beginning, with a waitress who made us feel rushed to order by hovering over our table. Asking, literally, every 2 minutes if we were ready yet, to once again VERY bland food. We ordered one of the two people specials ..and the main course was covered in what looked like to be, flavorless brown gravy. Two times of getting horrible food was enough for me. I had a couple dishes from this restaurant and felt like Goldilocks eating her third bowl because the temperature was just right. The tofu with vegetables was delicious but the avocado salad was disappointing. While visually appealing there was an overabundance of iceberg lettuce on the bottom and not enough avocado. It also did not come with any dressing. Maybe as a restaurant with Chinese in its name I should have stuck to that part of the menu and not ventured onto the Japanese side. read more

Meh. The generals chicken is good along with the chicken fingers. However I feel like in more recent years this place is very hit or miss and their rice sometimes tastes old. I had the chicken in garlic sauce and the chicken was rubbery like they warmed it up. The decor has been the same since 2000 bare minimum. Time for an upgrade. Typical Chinese place atmosphere. Very friendly and hard working staff. Family run, I assume. The food is typical Chinese fare, but very good. The crab rangoons are the best around. The sushi is also very good. If you like Chinese food, then I highly recommend this place. Don't forget to try the scorpion bowl! It's fantastic! read more

No idea why the reviews are so hit and miss, but. I haven't eaten in the restaurant, but my wife and I order take out from here. We always get perfectly decent food, at a significantly better price than the unnamed competitor, delivered promptly and hot, and the people on the phone even understand English, which is unfortunately not commonplace with Greenfield's Asian food emporiums. If you like Chinese food delivery, this works just fine. read more

I wish I lived closer!!! I had one of the best maki rolls ever there! It was Eel, asparagus (very thin) cucumber with squid and fish eggs on top. Sprinkled with panko and eel sauce. Fantastic! I also enjoyed 2 meals there Beef W/Fresh mushrooms and Chicken pad tai. Both were Excellent! Love the way they slice the chicken and so many Fresh mushroom with the beef. Eat there! If you're on your way to Vermont from Boston, this Chinese restaurant is a perfect place to stop for a meal. Chinese food has become more or less standardized. That's why it's really exciting when some of the run-of-the-mill dishes are re-invented and taken to a new level. New Fortune does this exceptionally well with their Crab Rangoons and their Egg Foo Young. With Crab Rangoons, New Fortune did away with the traditional triangle concept and ushered in a twisty square shaped one--the better to hold the fluffy cream cheese and *actual* bits of crab--this, at a time when many Chinese food restaurants have let the "crab" part of Crab Rangoon be ignored, hoping patrons will forget about the only identifying portion of the food's name. The Egg Foo Young is also delicious. I used to skim over this dish in Chinese food menus because of too many disappointing experiences. New Fortune has shined the spot-light anew on a dish that's so much more than an omelet. read more

I always have a hard time finding a GOOD place to eat Chinese food. Granted, I'm not a fan of the traditional Chinese cuisine, but more of the American inspired dishes (General Tso, chicken wings, Crab Rangoon's, etc). So finding that balance of savory, sweet, and not too overly salted taste that you find in most Chinese dining establishments becomes a difficult search for that diamond in the rough. New Fortune nails it on the head when it comes to taste authentic experience. By far, one of my favorite dishes on the menu is the General Tso's chicken. It's perfectly sweet, savory, and overall quite delicious. The staff will even adjust the spiciness to your preferred taste if you ask without any hassle. They have a wide variety of selections for any taste and a diverse selection of sushi to choose from. The customer service is extremely attentive; always keeping an eye on your table if you run low on drinks or if you're ready for the check. Nothing irritates me more than running out of beverage or just waiting to leave for an excessive amount of time. They're fast, efficient, and genuinely friendly every time I come in for dinner with family or friends. The take out experience is just as good as the dine-in. They're open on practically every holiday (even Thanksgiving and Christmas) and will deliver to your door with a smile. I've ordered from New Fortune so many times that they've recognized my voice and memorized my order. I highly recommend this place for the quality of their food and the wonderful atmosphere that they provide! read more

I'm from Boston so I don't get excited for the "American Chinese" that you get once away from the city. I hit this place last week while traveling and was surprised. While looking at the menu I saw that they had dishes with fresh asparagus on the board. Got the asparagus with chicken, beef, and shrimp. I think there were scallops in there too. It was great. The good: It's much nicer than you'd expect from the outside (Chinese restaurant next to a supermarket in a strip mall). Interior is pleasant. The okay: The food varies. Their sushi is nice, and most of their Chinese ranges from okay to good. Terrible wonton soup, but otherwise no big complaints. A little better than a regular Chinese takeout, I suppose. The bad: Very bad service/staff. Odd combination of aggressively bored, rude, and occasionally drunk/high (or at least acting such). The annoying: My credit card was charged three times for a meal the last time I went there. One of the three was caught and removed a few days later.
