I have been a part of iYa Taekwodo for a little over a year. I have to say I am still impressed with Ms. Xai, Ms. Edwards, the youth teachers and the team. Ms. Xai holds each student accountable for their actions and hold them to the highest standards. I enjoy the lessons she teach during huddle time. She adjusts each lesson accordingly to age. I see Ms. Xai engaging with parents everyday. She sincerely ask how the adults are doing, and is always open to suggestions and sets expectations for each students. I hear Ms. Xai has been teaching Taekwondo for over 14 years, I am impressed that her passion to teach, engage with parents, students and families stay strong and highlights strong community support. read more

Don't usually agree with others' reviews by default but I do have to agree with this five star rating. From the get go they have been very kind and very thorough, answering any and all questions and providing a comprehensive overview to their program. For a first timer, my daughter was nervous but the coaches have been kind and patient. They seem to just really "get" kids here. Very encouraging and positive which isn't always the case with kid sports. As a result my daughter is begging me to consistently go! There is a significant monthly cost but I think give the environment, physical activity, and positive focus it is well worth every penny. Check 'em out! read more

I selected to have my 5 year old daughter's birthday at iYa Taekwondo. It was the best decision ever. The day was so well structured for the full session. It was appropriate for all age range. All activities were very engaging, well selected and fun! I have never had a birthday party this fun (even for me as a parent)! Our kids have studied taekwondo at iYa since 2021. Big thanks to iYa for teaching them perseverance, self-control, and confidence. My grandson started taking this since one month & the improvement he has been doing @ home, school & his self control that is being taught daily. He looks forward 4 these classes 3 x a week. Everyday he learn new things so as the grandparents & we forward video to his parents which they are so busy. This is a great establishment that has been around for 10 years. The teachers are invested The students and teachers participate in community events such as July 4th Pocket parade. They also put on an amazing haunted house every Halloween. They teach the kids not only hand forms, weapons, or sparring, but they also teach important life lessons and principles. Absolutely love the camaraderie and the life principles to live by. Ms. Xai and her team are truly invested in the community and the future generation of leaders and members of society. Found iYa Taekwondo to celebrate my son's 6th birthday. In my search for a ninja party, Ms. Zai was the most responsive and helped provide all the info I needed. Planning was so easy and she even provided a personalized RSVP website for our guests. For parents, it was absolutely stress-free and Ms. Xai and her helpers did everything from providing food and drinks, setting up, checking the guests in, keeping all the kids engaged, and clean up! They are the best and I'm so thankful!! For the kids, this was all their first time to there. The staff had a schedule for them for the full 2 hours. They learned taekwondo concepts, some basic moves, and had so many games. They all had such a great time and Ms. Xai and the team were so good with the kids. My 7 year-old has been attending for two months, and absolutely loves it. We just moved to Sacramento and were looking for an activity that our son would be excited about, engaged with, and where we would all build community. iYa has been exactly that (and more!) for us. We recently celebrated my son's 5th birthday at iYa, and it was the absolute best experience, not only for my son, but for us as parents and all of our guests! When I first met with the owner Xai, she explained all of the activities and details of the party. I had very high expectations, Xai and her team surpassed what I was hoping for and provided 3hrs of non stop fun for over 20 children ranging in age from 2-7. From learning ninja skills, to snow ball fights, limbo, and soft sword duals the children were always engaged and having the time of their lives. When Xai initially told me that all I had to do was show up she wasn't kidding, I was able to socialize with the other parents who were also able to sit and enjoy without having to worry about running after their child. Her staff that assist with the party are so wonderful, kind and respectful. They too were always engaged with the children and made sure everyone was having a great time. Miss Xai is a 3rd degree black belt (assistant to a master), which doesn't qualify her as a master teacher(4th degree black belt). She has no master tkd teacher at her school. Please see link for additional information on the explanation of the levels of "dans" http://taekwondo.wikia.com/wiki/Dan She has children teaching her classes who are not even 1st degree black belts nor do they have any teaching experiences. A first degree black belt does not quality any level of tkd expertise, in fact it is merely the start on their tkd training. Don't let the "swat" on their uniforms fool you. Not only that, she changes her martial teaching so much from having a father who's a wrestler teach "jui jitsui" to her weapons training that she picks up from youtube (she has no official weapons training of any sort). and her tip testing, did you know she purposely raise the tips and added the grey tipping scale for capital gain? those grey tips are added not due to the fact that the child need more practice but for profit? how ethical is that? I wish i knew all of this before investing so many years and thousands of dollars into her tkd school. this review is not to put her down or her school down, but to inform those who are serious about their martial arts training. if you want your child to go to tkd for socializing and not for the martial art skills then this school is for you. If not you're better off at Kovar's Martial Arts or Robinson's TKD. read more

I have been going to iYa TKD for a year now and truly say that this is the best TKD gym in Sacramento. I have trained at other schools and studied other Martial Arts between Sacramento and Yuba City. Xai Lor is an excellent instructor and of the utmost integrity. iYa has a unique community feel to it. She gives the students so much more than simple Martial Arts. She challenges us to think about our lives outside class and how we might be better citizens and neighbors. She instills confidence in her students by having them lead appropriate portions of class or demonstrate certain skills they have mastered. She holds additional events that give opportunities to build friendships and develop social skills. She genuinely cares about her students.
