I had high expectations for this izakaya after reading other reviews and seeing the price point but our overall experience was somewhat amiss. There was a mix up with seating intially- our 6pm reservation table was not ready so we agreed to sit at the bar; however after getting our drinks we were asked to move back to a table because another party needed to be seated at the bar. As for the food, the baby octopus and daikon salad were very good & had interesting flavors. I probably would not get the TKG with uni again, the truffle butter overpowered the uni flavor. The sushi sets were definitely the highlight of the night and each piece was very good and fresh. The servers were very nice & apologetic about the initial confusion which we appreciated.

The foie gras daikon...... amazing!!!!! An absolute must order! That dish had the perfect balance of richness from the foie gras, a savory sweetness from the caramelized onions, and a refreshing mild taste from the daikon. Take a bite of all the components together with a sip of the dashi broth..... I was in food heaven! We ordered a bunch of different dishes from a sashimi set to fried chicken cartilage. Everything was good, but a bit on the pricey side for the quality and quantity. However, the foie gras daikon really was the star of the evening. The staff were nice and attentive. The ambiance was clean and cozy. Everything you'd expect from a good Izakaya spot. Will definitely be back! Tips: parking is located in the building and is paid for through your phone. Never had an issue getting parking in the building. They do take reservations. Even for two people.

I've been so excited to try this place out so I chose to go here to celebrate my birthday I scoped out the menu so we started ordering as soon as we were seated since we were so excited lol To start off, we got the baby sardine chips, uni truffle egg bowl, otoro nigiri with caviar, wagyu nigiri with foie gras, salmon nigiri, hotate nigiri, and torotaku BABY SARDINE CHIPS: it was okay.. nothing special UNI TRUFFLE EGG BOWL: the uni was rich and sweet and was luxuriously paired with the truffle oil and egg.. while delicious, it was very pricey for the portion OTORO NIGIRI WITH CAVIAR: melt in your mouth deliciousness as I had hoped :) A5 WAGYU NIGIRI W/ FOIE GRAS: this is the dish I was most excited about, yet unfortunately, it was one of the most disappointing dishes of the night :( as soon as I bit into it, I was expecting a tender, fatty bite. Instead, I was left trying to chew it as it was chewy and not reminiscent of A5 wagyu at all. I was definitely sad I spent the money for this as I regretted it SALMON NIGIRI: this is always a must when we get sushi.. again, I expected the salmon to be buttery. Instead, both my husband and I were chewing it and it was sinew-y and stringy- we were shocked that such a high end sushi restaurant would provide this type of quality of salmon HOTATE NIGIRI: this was also unfortunately a let down. I love raw hotate and the sweet flavor that you experience when eating it. However, it came out seared and with way too much yuzu Kosho on it. Nowhere on the menu did it say it was served seared with yuzu kosho TOROTAKU: one of my fave safe dishes, and this was one of my favorites of the night In addition to the above, we also ordered aburi otoro which was fatty and delicious, and uni nigiri (the uni they served was delicious! Creamy, fresh, and delicious). I also got a natto/yamaimo dish with nori which was okay. We were disappointed in the quality of the sushi so we decided to just call it a night and get dessert: APPLE BRULEE: this was nothing more than a basic creme brulee with a couple pieces of what tasted like canned apple on top. The service here was friendly, and the restaurant was comfortable yet intimate. However, the price unfortunately did not match the quality of what was given. The quality at katsumidori sushi was actually better than here :( Another thing we noticed was I had a lei on for my birthday and not one person asked if we were celebrating an occasion or said happy birthday - minor, but worth noting if you are celebrating an occasion

09/08/25 Yes, this has become our go to Izakaya... not just for the sushi but everything! We were fortunate to sit at the sushi bar Last night we took a couple of special friends and really enjoyed everything. We tried several new things and they did not disappoint! I didn't take a lot of photos because we had guests but let me tell you it was awesome! The deep fried baby sardines (tatami Iwaishi) is so good, light crispy and a great way to start. The blue fin Kama was awesome! Huge and cocooned to perfection, tasty and so moist...so much meat! Braised soft taco was delicious, so tender in the slightly sweet soy sauce. Each nigiri is carefully prepared an so delicious with each grain of rice so perfect. Now we'll just have to get back there again. 08/23/25 We enjoyed Izakaya Uosan So much that we returned last night. Got a 6:30 reservation. Lots of parking on the street This time we had omakase along with the wagyu tataki, oysters vinegrette and ayu. Great service, nice fresh sashimi and yummy tea. I love the authenticity of the restaurant and the people are so welcoming. The 6:30 reservation was perfect. Nice and quiet...make your reservations now that the summer crowds have died down. let the photos speak for themselves.

Halfway between an izakaya and a sushi bar, Uosan is all about well-executed dishes that straddle the traditional and the modern. We sat at the sushi bar, where the friendly chef recommended a delicious variety of sushi and cooked dishes. It was one of the few places where I can say everything was good, but some of the unexpected hits included: - Tamago: the bellwether of any good sushi restaurant, the tamago was well-seasoned and fluffy - Uni butter rice, where a creamy fresh egg, uni, and butter turned a Japanese traditional TKG into a decadent, risotto-like combo - Simmered foie gras and daikon: a lighter take on a decadent ingredient that's the perfect finisher to a tasty meal

Finally got to try Izakaya Uosan and the wait was worth it! A couple of the dishes (the Beef tongue and the Baby Sardine Chips) we ordered twice! Every dish we tried was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. * The karaage (fried chicken) was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy inside - with just the right amount of seasoning. * The Uni chawanmushi was packed with Uni, silky, rich, and melts-in-your-mouth. * The hamachi sashimi was incredibly fresh and buttery. * The corn tempura was surprisingly addictive - sweet, tender kernels with a light crunch. * We also enjoyed a variety of unique small plates like the Daikon salad, natto/okra/yamaimo. The restaurant is cozy, but includes a sushi bar. It has a real izakaya vibe, and service was excellent! It felt like being in Tokyo for the night! Definitely a spot I'd recommend for anyone craving authentic Japanese izakaya dishes with top-notch quality!

The food here is seriously the best. The service is great The chefs and waiters have great smiles and the fact that they speak Japanese is wonderful! The atmosphere of the restaurant is also very Japanese, very relaxing. When it comes to izakaya, it's Uo-san.

We came here for Valentine's dinner and now this is one of my new fave spots!! The menu has so many items I haven't seen anywhere else on Oahu & it's the perfect place for uni-lovers. We had uni amaebi, uni chawanmushi, uni truffle butter egg yolk rice UGH SO GOOD. We got a bunch of nigiri that we chose including kani miso, otoro foie gras, & this kinki fish my dad always raves about from when he lived in Japan. I've never found it in Hawaii before. Baby sardine chips were so good; I definitely recommend it as an appetizer along with the fried cartilage. Also our server was super friendly and gave us lots of helpful recs when we were ordering! The place is on the smaller side, and I definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time because we saw a lot of walk-ins get turned away but not sure if that's just cuz it was extra busy for valentines day. I can't wait to go back and try more things!!

I LOVED Izakaya Uosan. Also! For the price you pay for a regular sushi omakase experience this is the cheapest one I have seen so far, and yet they do not skimp on the quality of their best selections for the omakase (chef's choice). The omakase wasn't too many sushi dishes so we were able to try the other popular sushi nigiri as well. A5 Miyazaki Wagyu w/ Foie Gras was excellent, and was what I expected after trying wagyu in slider form at a different restaurant. It was very tender and melded with the flavor of the foie gras perfectly. The other most popular dish was the uni truffle butter w/ TKG Egg. Oh my God. I thought I was in heaven. I think when I go back I want to eat two bowls of this... The uni was perfectly ratio'd with the savory taste of the TKG Egg (high quality Japanese egg). I had fun mixing it with half of the sauce that they provide upon their instruction. Overall, an extremely amazing experience. I will be back. I even saw people dining alone at the sushi bar. Deadass that is gonna be me. I am tryna live like that fr. Parking is available in the lot in the back. You need to scan or text a number to make sure you are in the system. Once you check out of Uosan they will put a code in to your parking thing and you get 2 hours free validated parking.

Izakaya Uosan is as good as it gets when it comes to a high end sushi spot. This place made my whole Hawaii trip. Staff is super friendly and very helpful when it comes to recommendations. Get the Omakase. These people know what they're doing. Fish is flown in from Japan every day and it shows. Honorable mention to the Oyster Shooters that deserve their own restaurant. Insane combo of ingredients with an out of this world result. Can't recommend it enough!

Excellent sushi at Uosan! You know it's good, because even on a Monday, this place was packed! We made a reservation for 5pm and enjoyed a seat at the bar. My mom chose to do omakase style, while I ordered specific items off the menu. They don't have a set menu omakase. They just bring out items til you say stop. I enjoyed starting with the daikon salad, which was very refreshing. The hamachi Kama was juicy and paired well with the creamy crab croquette. All the sushi was very fresh! I actually really loved the uni chawanmushi. We finished with the apple brûlée! Service here is excellent. They are very friendly and make great, fresh sushi! They do cover the cost of parking in the lot as well.

How's the parking situation, full validation?

yes as long as you can finish your dining experience in 90 mins or 120 mins I believe. Parking validation in the parking structure closeby

    You have to call them.

Only omakase or we can order separately?

You may order the omakase or order ala carte, up to you. Your whole party don't have to do omakase if some of the people decide to go with the omakase option. It can be mix and match. They are flexible and will work with you if you need to follow…

Only omakase or we can order separately?

    Is uosan byob?

    Do they allow kids?

Izakaya Uosan is kids friendly. For consideration of the restaurant and other patrons sitting at the sushi counter, I think sit in the dining room at tables rather than at the sushi counter unless the kids are also eating the sushi and sashimi.

How can I make a reservation when you guys close?

    they accept call only

Are they open for dine in yet!?

Not yet. Take out only for lunch and dinner.

Is there any reason it's not open tonight 6/10? We came to eat at 7:30 and the place is closed.

They were closed for a while but they're open now for indoor dining. I was there last week (7/16). A reservation is a must.

Since it was late, we noticed the back of house staff help the front. Everyone was so friendly and food comes out fast. I could also say portion of some items may not match price, but I understand inflation is increasing at an alarming rate. So I'll leave money out of this. Crushed cucumbers were interesting. We couldn't decide if eating it with chopsticks or spoon was better. With chopsticks, you might not get enough sauce. But you could taste the layers of flavor. With a spoon, you get too much saltiness. The spice hits at the end. The tako karaage were a little too chewy for us. Beef tongue was so tender. A definite must order. I dont think it needs rice though. We also ordered the late night nikumiso but it didn't come with an egg, which the menu said it should. We ordered the short ribs, lobster appetizer, hamachi crudo and lastly sashimi moriawase to finish food palate. Lukki lemon dessert was great way to end to night. Ordered the Milk tea bouquet cocktail while my better half had water ( either way the food coma knock him out cold the rest of the night lol). To be honest, it was difficult to determine which dish was the best because the staff kept quality there despite it being busy every night since they announce the closure. Sashimi moriawase, fish was so fresh, reminded me of my time spent in Hokkaido and Sapporo. Short ribs was soft and rich in flavor. Both me and my fiance liked the lukki lemon dessert, like lemon meringue pie but broken down version. If you have a chance to dine here before closing and got a reservation, definitely will have a lovely dining experience and your stomach will be full by end of the night.

The Corn Beignets was the best. - For entree we got: Tomato Miso Black Cod and the Short Rib. Both were delicious and worth a try. Sad to see that this restaurant appears to be closing.

This restaurant will always hold a special place in our hearts…read more We first visited in 2025 during a trip to Oahu that ended with our engagement. We were staying at the Romer House and didn't have dinner plans, so we wandered into 855-Aloha. While we were looking over the menu, Matteo (the General Manager at the time) came over, welcomed us, and encouraged us to stay despite the wait. He then walked behind the bar, poured us two complimentary glasses of champagne, and invited us to relax while we waited for our table. That simple gesture set the tone for an incredible evening and was our first glimpse of the genuine hospitality this restaurant is known for. After that trip, we started planning our wedding and decided there was no better place than Oahu for a destination wedding. When it came time to plan our rehearsal dinner, 855-Aloha was one of the first places we reached out to. A few months later, while visiting Waikiki with my parents, we stopped in to show them the restaurant where we celebrated our engagement. Tanden, the Events Manager at the time, greeted us and, to our surprise, remembered me by name. He gave my parents a tour of the space and insisted we stay for a drink. Moments like that made us feel like more than just another reservation--they made us feel genuinely valued. Booking our rehearsal dinner here was an easy decision. Throughout the planning process, there was quite a bit of turnover within the events team. Every coordinator we worked with was warm, accommodating, and wonderful, with one exception. When we explored the possibility of extending our evening with a welcome party at Lei Stand after dinner, we found the experience with Samantha Molzer frustrating. The conversations felt unusually rigid, and instead of collaborating on options, we often felt reminded of policies and qualifications. Ultimately, we decided to host our welcome party across the street at Green Lady Cocktail Room, where the process felt more flexible and better suited to what we were looking for. (Ultimately the unreasonably firm quote she had given us did not make any sense. After our rehearsal dinner we still wandered over to the lei stand for a drink before heading over to our welcome party at another location and there were all of 4 guests in the entire bar. They probably would have profited greatly from hosting us!) Thankfully, Lisa stepped in to coordinate our event, and she and the entire team absolutely knocked it out of the park. Our rehearsal dinner was everything we had hoped for and more. The service was attentive, the food was fantastic, and every detail was thoughtfully executed. What stood out most, though, was the team's kindness. I had gotten sick a few days into our trip and still wasn't feeling well enough to eat much on the night of our rehearsal. I asked one of the servers if there happened to be any soup on the menu. They apologized that there wasn't, but then told me they had everything needed to make fresh miso soup from scratch if I didn't mind waiting a few minutes. Within minutes, they brought me a warm bowl of homemade miso soup. It was such a small gesture, but one I'll never forget. That level of care and hospitality is exactly what makes people return to a restaurant time and time again. Thank you to Lisa and the entire team for helping make such an important milestone in our lives even more special. We'll always look back on 855-Aloha with incredibly fond memories.

As it was my first night in Hawaii and we didn't have dinner yet, sure why not try it? While waiting to be seated, I had asked the staff at 855 Aloha if the 15% discount would apply for guests at the hotel, and quite oddly, she said she didn't know. Upon being seated, I asked our server and strangely, she also didn't know and said she would ask someone. Sort of made me confused and gaslighted that I'm being told two different things. As it's our first time dining at 855 Ahola, we tried a few entrees and I would say that it's flavorful and delicious; much better than I would have expected. $12 for sparkling water, a little pricier but the food was good. I did enjoy my late meal / dinner. My only complaint would be that when the bill arrived, no discount was applied. I had told three servers that I was a guest at the hotel, had my key card and ID as well. The server came back and she applied 10% off. At that point, I just paid for the bill and left a 20% tip for gratuity. Being in Hawaii, especially after a long flight and it being our first meal which happens to be very late and it's dinner, would have liked for the hotel to have just honored the 15% discount without having to ask about it so many times. 15% discount won't break my wallet but it's more about the principle and fairness -- it is actually listed on the website as well. It made me feel like 855 Aloha wasn't very honest. The food itself was good but I would probably just skip this one next time.

A large party was very loud throughout the entire meal, seemingly with no regard for the other customers in the restaurant. To make matters worse, one of the servers joined in on the yelling and screaming, which added to the chaos and unpleasantness. The employees made no apparent effort to address the situation or maintain a comfortable environment for the other guests. Food was lukewarm when it did arrive (after almost 30 mins) and made the meal even more frustrating. I understand that restaurants can get busy and that large groups can be energetic, but there should still be consideration for everyone dining there. Between the excessive noise, lack of staff response, delayed service, and lukewarm food, the overall experience was not enjoyable. We left feeling that the restaurant prioritized the large party over its other customers.

We ordered a bit too much food and spent a little under $200 for two people after tax and tip. Some dishes we ordered: 1. Spicy tuna and salmon with garlic roll ($26.50) - massive roll and quite heavy...this was the last dish to come out and we were STUFFED by then. It's good, but I would have preferred to start the meal with this roll, not end with it. 2. Atsuage natto ($9.50) - ordered to hit my protein macros. It's literally fried tofu topped with a generous serving of natto. 3. Eggplant in dashi sauce ($6.50) - light appetizer, and seemed fairly healthy. 4. Miso chilean sea bass ($30) - very flaky and fresh. I was already getting full by this point after our apps and nigiri came out. 5. The nigiri and rolls were all fresh and ranged in pricing. We each got 3 pieces of nigiri and split a couple small rolls in addition to the aforementioned spicy tuna and salmon. Service was decent. We sat at the counter and the chefs were all very nice.
