Love sushi this is my go to Everytime can't get enough and it's a buffet I love this place

I used to frequent here a lot when I was in college, and it was so great. It is still good for the price and a quick fix for your sushi craving. I came here for lunch today and paid $14.50 (I am originally from the metro Atlanta area, so this is a great price). There are a few caveats to consider, though! This is not your average buffet since it is centered around sushi. So that means the hot foods selection is scarce. If you are looking for that type of buffet, I would go elsewhere. Also, the selection of sushi may seem like a lot at first glance, but in reality there is only about a handful. A lot of the rolls are the same rolls with different names and different garnishes on top. There is a hibachi grill inside for you to customize your meal and a soup section as well. The desserts are as buffet-average as it gets. The staff is great for the most part; they'll pick up your plates and keep your area clean. Honestly, I left satisfying my sushi craving, and I was full. All for $14.50, I can't complain. read more

I LOVE Izumi. Is it luxury level seafood and sushi? No. But is it a solid 7-8/10 for what a single sushi roll has started to cost nowadays? Absolutely. Lunch is $15 and dinner is $20 for all the sushi, sashimi, and hibachi you can eat. Usually buffets are pretty mediocre, with food that I regret paying even $10 for it. Even on its worst days when fish is less fresh, it's still better than any buffet I have ever had, and is usually still better sushi than what I would get for a $14 roll at other sushi places. I love coming here when I want some good fish without breaking the bank. They have a great selection on hand rolls, sushi, and even sashimi. They have standard Asian food and a hibachi in their buffet as well for people who may not like raw food. They even do takeout and let you stuff a to go box with as much as it can fit if you're in a hurry and don't want to sit down. I will always recommend Izumi for the price it is, and the quality it manages. For the price and quality, this place just can't be beat. read more

I've seen posts before about salmon here having worms, and after visiting I kind of understand how that could happen when some of the sushi sits out for a while. To be fair, though, this is a buffet, so part of that risk is on the customer for choosing buffet sushi in the first place. I'll take half the blame for that one. I was so in the mood for Sushi, serendipity I happen to be with a like minded friend. Izumi delivered as always with more choices than one thought possible. There is something for everyone from the safe little California Rolls to the ones topped with more exotic ingredients. My favorites smocked salmon, thinly sliced Ahi and the Eel. The ones topped with a tiny octopus were a delight The grill prepares a tasty hot meal of your choice and the hot bar has many selections of Chinese favorites. The only thing I found lacking was the hot and sour soup, which was neither and rather tasteless in general. I almost missed the crab Rangoon although the pork potstickers were a crispy tasty thing. Service was good and restaurant was very clean. Well worth the drive all the way to Evan's even at $20 per meal without drinks. read more

The food is so good! I especially love the build your own hibachi plate. The sushi is also really good, and they don't put out too much at once so it isn't sitting out for very long. The service is so quick and very helpful. The lunch buffet is often pretty busy but there's always enough food and a place to sit. There are two parts to this review. The first part was that the rolls were fresh and continued to come out at a fast pace during our visit. Some of them were delicious and some were basic. They also had a few unique rolls including one that was really spicy. The price was also fantastic for the options that are provided. I do not like sushi rolls with cream cheese in them. Several of the rolls had big chunks of it in there so take a look at the actual roll and not then name of them. The sushi nigiri was also pretty good. I had shrimp and salmon. It was not loaded with rice like many other buffets tend to do. The miso soup wasn't seasoned or flavored in a way that I'm accustomed to. So here is the second part...... As we were finishing our second round of food a GIANT roach walked from the buffet area right over to our table. I mean this roach was just out there. If you know anything about roaches is that if you see one out in the day, then there are hundreds unseen. It instantly ended our lunch. We watched in horror as it just chilled at our neighbors table. Heard about the wonderful spread at Izumi from my sis-in-law. We went there on our last night before heading home. When we arrived, we were seated right away and our server took our drink orders and off we go. I did a survey first and there were plenty to choose from. Started off with some sushi, sashimi and rolls. There are a lot to choose from including Tuna, Salmon, and White fish (escolar maybe?) plus seared tuna. For nigiri, they have clam, fish eggs, eel, tamago and more. They have different types of rolls and were all tasty. The one that impressed me most is their ratio of seafood and rice for this nigiri and rolls. Just right esp since this is a buffet. They have a hot food station. Tried a couple of things. Really liked the vegetable tempura. It was crispy and tasted freshly cooked unlike other buffets where it can be soggy. They also have grill station where you choose your ingredients and they cook it for you. for protein, you can choose from beef, chicken and shrimp. They also had a few soup selections... hot and sour, miso and crab and corn soup. Overall, food-wise, it is well worth visiting. It was one of the better Japanese buffets I've been to. Place is ok. Nothing special to say about the decor. It's all about the food for me. :-) read more

We did the dinner meal just after 5pm, the 1st weekend in June. Just not what it use to be. However, If you are into Sushi, it has a buffet loaded with it. If you want cooked food, it is limited to 1 buffet table with about 12-14 items and Hibachi cook for making custom cooked rice. Those items are 3/5 to 4/5 and 5/5 (rice). Get your sushi cravings here! I was extremely surprised that they had some deluxe sushi, for the price. It's 100% better to just get your sushi cravings here than any other restaurant. I love that I don't have to commit to an entire roll to try something. It allowed me to try their tons of variety. We were there Saturday at around 12-1 and they consistently had loads of food. My husband isn't into sushi and he was still happily satisfied with the other dishes and the stir fry. As a sushi lover, no, they're not the best I've ever had, but for the price, their quality had very much exceeded my expectation. So I passed by this place pretty frequently when driving around. Never thought too much of it. The sign is near Washington Road but the physical location of the restaurant is back a little bit. Once I ordered food from here to go. It was delicious, yeah, a little pricey for my budget, so I didn't think much of it. However, then I learned from a colleague that they drive out of their way 30 minutes to come here at least once a week because the food is so delicious. They told me about the buffet on the weekend for both lunch and for dinner. I finally was able to check it out a few Sundays ago. Oh my gosh! What have I been doing? I've been slacking on this place. Every single bite of food I put in my mouth was delicious from the sushi, fresh entrées, desserts, everything. And the service was absolutely great too. Walking around and refilling drinks promptly, as well as cleaning up any dirty dishes off of the table. The price is unbeatable. I don't care if you live all the way in Greenville, South Carolina or wherever the heck you are. It is literally worth the drive to come to this place on the weekend for the buffet. Also, let me just end this by saying that I am not a buffet type of person. Buffets typically freak me out. The whole concept of a buffet is gross to me. But this one was exquisite and clean and well put together and you can literally watch the people make your food. I forgot to mention they even have a hibachi bar where you get to put all of the things that you want cooked on your plate and you hand it to the hibachi chef who cooks it right in front of you on the hibachi grill. This restaurant should be avoided at all costs! After a morning spent shopping, my wife and I decided to give this place a try for their lunch buffet. Big mistake. HUGE! The food was absolutely horrendous, the restaurant itself was dirty and the bathrooms were disgusting! The buffet at first appeared rather delicious, though after tasting our first plate we were shocked to find both the chicken and beef offerings were about two/three days old and tough as leather, and the sushi wasn't much better. The vegetables were tasteless and hard, and by their color one could easily surmise they too were more than a few days old. Now, I get it, they mix leftovers with the new foods to save money, but this place was downright ridiculous. The food had absolutely no taste, and some dishes didn't even smell right. Before finishing our first plate we left, vowing to never again return. Thankfully there are places like YELP where we can warn future patrons against this awful place. read more

I was passing through Augusta and met a friend for dinner . He was wanting Sushi and recommended we dine at Izumi . Typically , I would not go to a buffet . We arrived at 6pm . They had reopened at 5pm. Everything that was on the menu was on the Buffet , so .... That made me a little bit more comfortable. The sushi was beautiful . You can even have Hibachi that is included in the Buffet price . There is also an American food section, great for kids or if you are dining with someone who doesn't like Sushi. Honestly, even though this place is a solid 30 min away, it is so worth the trip! I was shocked when I found out there was a legit sushi buffet in Augusta, and though my expectations were low, we were blown away. It's 15-20$ for lunch/dinner for about 30 different kinds of sushi, a Mongolian bbq bar, a hot foods bar, and several kinds of dessert. The service is very friendly, and the whole experience is 10/10. There is lots of seating, so even though we went with a large group, it was spacious and we had a great time. Even though it's about a 25-30 minute one-way drive from where I live, I still go with my friends or take my parents there for their buffet because it's such great value for the money. Their sushi is cut fresh, and I cannot taste a fishy smell from the salmon, squid, tuna, or any other sushi they serve there. Honestly, I mostly go there just for the sushi... that's where I can get my money's worth. Dinner was no more than $20/person (without tip), and that's an amazing deal, especially for AYCE at dinnertime. I don't really eat much of the hot food they have because I'm usually stuffed up from their sushi. Their egg drop soup is great. I also haven't tried their hibachi, but the ingredients they have out for you to choose look pretty fresh. It's definitely worth trying this place out, and I know I will be back for more in the future. read more

Izumi is one of my favorites in Evans. The food is always good and there is no wait. Occasionally there will be parties or large groups of people who rent out multiple tables, and if that's the case then you want to sit in the opposite side of the restaurant as them. If it's particularly busy, they may not have the sushi you want. The sushi is delicious, that's all that really needs to be said. The other non sushi foods are good too, but the sushi is the main reason to go. The interior is pretty and it's generally very clean. When you arrive you are greeted by usually a clean cut nice looking gentleman who guides you to your seat where they will take your drink orders and release you into sushi land. You walk through the door and are eating within 5 minutes. Super convenient! Also, they use these carts to bring the plates out to the plate dispensers that do not have any form of suspension, so when they push the cart stacked full of plates across the diner floor (tiled), they rattle so loudly that you have to actually stop your conversation and wait for them to reach their destination before resuming. It can be heard *loudly* from across the restaurant and is a horrible sound, like a grocery cart full of china being pushed down a bumpy asphalt road. Please, invest in a better cart. read more

There was also a hibachi bar where you could get noodles or rice with different veggies and meats! This restaurant has a nice nostalgic feeling since it reminds me of some buffet restaurants in New York City. They have decent salmon and tuna sashimi that gets restocked fairly regularly which is probably the best thing about the place. Like all buffet's you expect the quality to be slightly lower due to the sheer volume of food they need to serve and the variety. It's a little less variety than I'm used to but for Augusta, I would say this is probably one of the best buffet options for sushi and asian food. It might even be the only AYCE option in the area, but I need to explore more. The wait staff is nice and leave you alone for the most part, just coming by to take the plates every 10-15 minutes. Top 3 things to get are the salmon, white tuna sashimi and eel nigiri. They have some cooked foods in the periphery but I think they are not nearly as worth it compared to the raw sushi. read more

I am not a fan of this place. My mom loves it, but I think it's just about the lowest quality sushi you can find. There's just nothing good about it except that you can eat as much as you want, but I couldn't eat any of the raw sushi here. It was all fishy to me. Even the cooked foods are low quality. The only thing I could eat was the cold salads, like the cucumber and fake crab salad, and seaweed salad. I would rather pay for better sushi that's not a buffet. Don't let the all-you-can-eat reel you in like I did. Another thing that really turned me off was the way they give you your own serving tongs and then everyone keeps reusing their own tongs. I'd rather touch a handle that someone else touched rather than know that all these tongs went back to peoples tables and then back up to the buffet. We watched a kid eating off the tongs and sticking them in his mouth. It would be a MUCH better idea to just have people sanitize their hands before serving themselves and leave the tongs at the buffet! read more

I usually don't like to eat at buffets, but my friends invited me here before I could realize it was a buffet. The food was delicious and I like that we received our own individual tongs to use to get food. The food was good and you definitely get your money's worth. I just had a lot of anxiety eating there with a shrimp allergy. Shrimp was all over the place. Shrimp was next to other food options that I wanted to try and even spilling off the plate onto other plates. I was scared to eat things that were next to shrimp just in case someone had mixed utensils with the shrimp. The things I did eat that were far enough from the shrimp were tasty though and the sushi was always freshly made. I liked that you could see the sushi made right in front of your eyes. read more

I really used to like this place about 8-10 years ago EVEN THOUGH they always seem to hawk over people of color, particularly large groups of said people of color. I felt like the food was decent for the price but it seems like the quality of food has gone down right with the service. Definitely has an insane amount of some sort of fillers because you eat it and you're hungry an hour later. They do have a pretty decent sushi bar. They're pretty stingy with the salmon sushi, you have to get there quick as soon as the sushi chef puts it out. They also have a pretty decent fresh hibachi bar where you walk up, put all your meat and veggies on a plate and then sit it up there for the hibachi griller to make. All in all, I'd give it a 3/5. read more

I am shocked that this place doesn't have 5's down the line. When I was told there was an AYCE sushi buffet near Augusta, I was skeptical at first. I was sure it would be california rolls only or nigiri with huge balls of rice as filler. What I found was the exact opposite. There was a very decent variety of sashimi without rice, with tuna, salmon, white tuna, and yellow tail. The nigiri pieces and rolls had a normal amount of rice and included the above as well as squid, eel, mackerel, roe, scallops, shrimp, tamago, and more. Pretty much every piece I had was as good as a standard sushi restaurant, but the fact that it was all you can eat with such a great variety really takes this up a notch. They also have a stirfry bar, standard asian buffet items (tampura, soups, skewers, soups, fried rice, etc) that are a nice break from the sushi. Desserts are pretty meh but they do have a cooler of assorted ice creams. I will say I had some oysters that were a bit dry and didn't taste as fresh. I would skip these in the future. All in all, this is probably the best sushi buffet I've had outside of Houston at this price. Solid variety, sashimi, and nigiri with normal amounts of rice as well as a decent enough hot buffet section. The cherry on top is it is ~$18. This is like preinflation lunch sushi buffet in Houston 15 years ago. Highly highly recommend this restaurant and a true 5 in my book. read more
