Just decided to try out the happy hour here for my birthday, we sat at the bar. Service was friendly and very quick, drinks always full too, which is appreciated. I got some passionfruit lemon drop drink, the usual edamame and then we got just 2 sushi rolls to try out for happy hour. Great happy hour pricing, everything with 2 drinks was about $30 or so, drinks being more than the food.

My husband and I took our daughter out for dinner at Izumi a couple of nights ago and we had a great experience! It was our second time going here and the food was delicious and fresh, the service was wonderful and our drinks were kept refilled. My husband loves the quality and variety of the nigiri here and my daughter and I particularly love the Red Bull roll that has steak on the top! On our first visit, we had cash ready for our server, who was excellent btw, but another server came by and grabbed her cash tip and put it in her pocket. I'm not sure how they tip out here but that just really sat wrong with us. For that reason only, I'm not giving 5 stars.

We stopped in for a quick bite during happy hour and the place was packed! We got there 15 minutes after they opened so get there early or be prepared to wait. The service was quick and our glasses were never without water. Our food also came out quickly and was delicious. We were in and out and off to the concert we were going to with no delay. It was a great Friday night choice. I would not hesitate to stop in again.

Great sushi place. Excellent service, good prices and yummy rolls. Went for a family lunch and was delighted at the experience. The fish was fresh and the combo of the rolls was amazing.

Unexpected find for late dinner. Looks like it's a local favorite. Food was good. Atmosphere was very upbeat. I would visit again if I am in the area.

I ordered several different rollls and they were all good. Food took a really long time to come out of the kitchen but other than that customer service was great!

Happy hour at Izumi is seriously the best deal for some amazing sushi. I can't recommend Izumi enough. We love their traditional roles and the deep fried specials. Everything comes out super fast and fresh, and the staff is so great. I even got takeout sushi once and it was just as tasty! Always a great time at Izumi.

Probably my favorite sushi place in Eugene. Servers are friendly, can get loud in here because it's always busy with concrete floors and high ceilings. Best Happy hour spot around! 4-6 and after 9pm my bill was 135.00 for drinks and dinner for 5 but we ordered a lot of stuff....as it should be . Shrimp nachos are my favorite

First things first: Happy hour is where it's at. I was trying to decide between 3 and 4 stars (the consensus according to the aggregated Yelp rating) and decided to give 4 stars because of the HH pricing. 3 rolls plus an appetizer for $35 is hard to beat. Coming from CA, my wife and I have been trying various sushi restaurants looking for the best balance between price and quality. Izumi's happy hour is a pretty good contender. We got there at 5:45pm (HH is 4-6), but our waitress was great and let us know that we should pick what we wanted so that we could get our order in before HH ended. We ended up choosing the Albacore Delight, the Crunchy Monster, and the Go Duck rolls with Agedashi Tofu as our appetizer. Agedashi Tofu is one of our favorite appetizers, and Izumi's didn't disappoint. The potato starch batter was just crunchy enough, and the sauce soaked in perfectly. Personally, I wish they had added a little bit more of the fried fish flakes on top, but that's mostly a me thing. 5/5 The fish and rolls are fairly good, but nothing outrageous. I'm sure that the chefs had a rush at the end of HH, so I'm willing to let it slide. The tempura shrimp in the Go Duck roll wasn't as fresh as it could have been, so the batter wasn't crunchy. The avocado, tuna, and salmon on top were good, but couldn't compensate for the lackluster tempura. 3/5 The Crunchy Monster surprised us, since it was only 5 pieces. It might have been indicated on the menu, but I didn't notice. It lived up to its name, though. This roll was thick and the crunchy topping was great. I probably would have given this a 4/5 if there had been more than 5 pieces. 3.5/5 The Albacore Delight roll was the best of the three. I'm not a huge albacore fan, but the fish was fresh and the flavors melded together nicely. 4.5/5 Of the three rolls, this is the only one I'd order again. Although the first two rolls were fine, I'd rather try some of their other rolls.

I sat at the bar since there was a long wait list. The service and the sushi were good. Maybe not exceptional but it is a nice go to place.

Always love eating here! It's hard sometimes to find good vegetarian options but the tofu here is…read moreso good and it's such a fun way to share a meal. It's the place I always bring friends and family from out of town

There are no reservations at this restaurant, so it's first come first serve. Street parking was…read moreeasy to find, and we arrived around 7. The place was packed, but thankfully we were seated quite quickly with a 5-10 minute wait. The interior is cozy and welcoming. It's dimly lit with mood lighting on the tables. It felt lively since the tables were packed. We started by ordering the sake and shoyu flights and some fries with wasabi mayo while we explored the rest of their menu. We received the flights quickly. Both flights had 3 flavors and were tasty and fun to try. Each flight comes with a menu describing the flavor profile and how the drinks were made. The flavors of each flight were distinct and matched their descriptions. The fries with wasabi mayo were pretty basic fries. They were well seasoned, had a nice crunch, and the mayo had a subtle wasabi flavor without it being spicy. For our next round we ordered the salmon misoyaki, butternut squash, tofu kushiyaki, and steak kushiyaki. Unfortunately, our server forgot to bring our butternut squash, but we ended up being full with the rest of the food we ordered and just took it off our order. The salmon misoyaki was delicious - perfectly cooked, tender, and well seasoned. The mustard greens on the side added a nice sourness. The tofu kushiyaki was tender and flavorful. The steak kushiyaki was well-seasoned, but more well done than I preferred and a little tough. Next, we ordered the spinach goma ae and umeboshi unigiri. The spinach goma ae was such a pleasant surprise! It's a chilled spinach dish with a tamari/black sesame sauce that was refreshing mid-meal. Really good umami flavor! The umeboshi onigiri had the expected sharp salty/sour flavor that balanced well with the ratio of rice. Ended up dipping the umeboshi onigiri in the goma ae sauce to get every last drop. For dessert we ordered the basque cheesecake and créme brûlée. The cheesecake was just okay. The menu said there was sake and black sesame flavors, but apart from some black sesame dust on the plate we couldn't taste the sake/sesame. The texture was thick and not super smooth. It was a pretty heavy dessert and not very sweet. The créme brûlée was yummy. The custard was smooth and the crunchy caramelized sugar on top was a nice contrast in texture and flavor. The service itself was slow. We were waiting around 15 minutes between orders. Given, it was a busy night. However, we felt a bit forgotten as our server did forget to bring one of our dishes, we had to ask for our dessert menus twice, and we were accidentally served two basque cheesecakes instead of our order of cheesecake and créme brûlée. The staff were friendly, and quickly brought out the correct desserts at the end. I'd recommend ordering more dishes at once so you can enjoy more food in between orders. Would definitely come back again to try the rest of their menu. We wanted to try the Japanese sweet potato but they had sold out that night. The oysters, sashimi, and udon also looked quite good!

Wasabi - like, real wasabi! I kept dabbing in my mouth never having tasted it before. It's both spicier on the front of your tongue and more luxurious on the back. I want more. The fried chicken bao was unfugging, unbelievably delicious. Can we say unfugging on Yelp? We got the Mrs V roll - spicy tuna topped with seared beef. Again, buttery with Rich beef and tuna that's actually spicy. Excellent roll This was an elegant, refined and completely delicious experience. We will definitely be back.

Our server didn't smile and seemed so impatient when we asked questions about the menu. He was going off the clock and flippantly said, if you need anything ask the other guy or the bartender, both of which seemed disinterested in filling in for him. When we asked about which tuna nigiri was which (several were on the plate) they had no clue and were not interested in finding out for us. Food wise, it was okay and I've certainly had better but the lackluster service tainted the entire night.

Nice interior, and was waited on quickly. My waitress brought water, and took my order for green tea. It came quickly, a full mug, and a lovely little cast iron teapot with a second serving. Good tea, too! I ordered the nine piece Hamachi sashimi (on a diet... no carbs, lol)! I was brought a six piece... and let the waitress know that. Told her the six piece would be fine for now. Lovely presentation, and the hamachi was beautiful. Fresh too, no fishy odor and the color was good. It was delicious. I would eat here again!

Today I went and got a 'Caterpillar' roll and 'Day Dreamer' roll. Let me break it down for you. Caterpillar roll: AMAZING 10/10. I love sushi and this is a go to roll for me NO MATTER WHAT. This roll is always good, but Sushi Pure makes it amazing, the taste, texture, and fulfillment it brings is unmatched. Day Dreamer roll: Very Solid 7.75/10. This roll had me in a chokehold for a second. That's neither bad or a good thing. The taste all around was very good, but the texture through me off (more personal problem, so many of you may love this). It was like soft, then crunchy, then popping due to the fish egg. All around I would recommend, but it may not be for everyone. The servers I've had both times have always been so kind, quick moving, and motivated so the service is unmatched as well. All in all, Sushi Pure is a must try with an amazing atmosphere!

The prices for their items at Subo are high compared to what you get, but what makes Subo better than the rest is the fresh quality of their fish. I ordered a half rice/half salad classic #7 bowl with fresh salmon, jalapenos, cucumbers, fried wonton, cream cheese, green onion, field greens, and cajun sauce. The purple rice was a nice addition and cooked well, and the cajun dressing for the bowl balanced surprisingly well with everything else. The restaurant itself is small with low ceilings and few tables; it holds some charm but probably feels claustrophobic quickly if there's a crowd. There is soy sauce, 'wasabi,' and pickled ginger in the back of the shop for you to add to your bowl to your taste. Overall, the fish is fresh, but for the price would not come here regularly. You can get a variety of more substantial toppings and customizations for a lower price and same fish quality in a different city. The $32 for 2 bowls and app deal is nice, but doesn't include any vegetarian bowl options.
