There are very few plant based restaurants in our area and even fewer bakeries that specialize in vegan treats. Izzy B's is a treasure, not just because they have vegan desserts but they are scrumptious! My wife discovered them and purchased a cake for my birthday in July and I just bought one for hers. Although it was a bit too chocolately for me, I think the lemon mini-cupcake was to die for. My 82 year old male friend who kids Kristin about being vegan (and who doesn't taste very well anymore) loved the mini cupcakes (he ate the hostess cupcake and then asked for another --strawberry). My son is allergic to eggs, wheat, soy, dairy and all nuts. I really was close to giving up hope of ever seeing my son have a normal birthday experience involving a cake. Sure, I tried making cookies and cakes myself. Some cookies I made were so hard you could use them as ninja throwing stars, I made cakes that crumbles like sand and tasted like sawdust. Then my wife found Izzy B's and we rolled the dice and ordered a crazy pirate cake. I drove six hours for this thing with fear and hope in my heart. It was amazing! I have no idea how they made what they made. Also, I don't want to know. I prefer believing that Pam has a magic spoon or has magic gnomes tied up in her basement. Anyway the woman has mad skills. Like my kids birthday cake was better than anything I could have gotten close to home made with milk and eggs. I'm not just giving her five stars because she graduated from SVA like me. That being said SVA, has been one of the top five art schools in America for longer than we have been living. Anyway Izzy B's saved my butt and will be saving my butt for every time I need a cookie or cake for my child which will be a lot of butt saving because he is 3. Pam is a badass! I had these cupcakes for my daughter's birthday this past Sunday. My Mom picked them up for me on Saturday and said the woman was extremely pleasant and helpful! She double wrapped them in plastic so that would not get hard. I must say being a tough critic on my daughter for anything vegan or vegetarian that this is the BEST cupcake I've ever had! I received a very misleading email about the price of shipping and ended up paying more for the shipment of 4 cupcakes than for the actual product. When I searched for this, Izzi B's came up as the first (and one of the only) in my location so I decided to try it out. I had a custom order and gave the cake pops to my boyfriend (who eats almost as far away as a vegan diet as one can get) for our anniversary. He absolutely loved them and wanted more!
