Sweet Ashley's is a local ice cream shop in Norwalk & gets rightfully busy as it's on the corner of a busy intersection & is tasty. I had the toasted coconut & it was very tasty. The employee also gave a very generous amount. The only reason that I have this place 4 stars versus 5 stars is because I also got coffee from here and it was absolutely appalling, they had a pot in the morning just sitting there for hours & called it "fresh." This review is for the ice cream cake only. Stopped in on a weekday to pick up an ice cream cake. Asked the staff to add a message on the cake - he didn't have the best penmanship but it came out ok. The service was fine. The cake was just ok. It was vanilla and chocolate with some chocolate crunchies in the middle. I was expecting a bit more flavor or pizzazz for $25. It was fine but needed a little something else. I'll probably just grab a Carvel ice cream cake instead next time. read more

The delightful Chocolate Raspberry Truffle is a clear winner - good old fashioned chocolate ice cream well studded with chocolate chunks oozing raspberry jam. Perfect place to stop for ice cream if you are near the aquarium. I confess that I am not an ice cream addict and prefer other desserts, but when I do go i to a shop I am always interested in trying unique or nonconventional flavors. Been a loyal costumer for many many years, but the original ice cream recipes have been changed and not for better. The flavors are just not there. The new Cookie Monster flavor may have a more vibrant color but it's lacking in flavor and stains mouth blue. I will NEVER go back to this place again! We happened to be in the area with my elderly parents who wanted ice cream - it was a little before closing. They refused to make a shake because it was too close to closing. After my parents and husband got their ice cream -they were getting napkins and one of the young men said quote un quote " we are closing can you leave" not even please. It was unbelievably rude.My husband is in food service and I am a pharmacist- it doesn't matter if someone comes in near closing - you service them as if they were your first customers of the day. I give this place a solid 4. So many flavors to choose from - Twix was my families favorite of our selections. There are a lot of Ice Cream places in the area but I think this place holds their own. One of my biggest regrets about living in Norwalk is waiting 4 years to give Sweet Ashley's a try. I guess it's the unassuming exterior that looks more like an accountant's office than ice cream shop. Or maybe it's the location that is convenient on the way to the beach, yet hidden from view on the drive home. Regardless of the reason, I try not to dwell on the knowledge that I let 4 prime ice-cream eating years slip through my fingers. I've seen people order soft-serve, though with the vast menu of hand-made, hard ice-cream covering the spectrum of classics to funky, I can't figure out why. Hand dipped cones? Check. Free samples? Check. Sundaes and shakes? Sprinkles and candy toppings? Ice-cream cakes? Check, Check, & Check. Thank goodness I have kids to use as an excuse, otherwise I'd be one of the many single adults sneaking away for a scoop or two of Sweet Ashley indulgence, explaining away traces of chocolate on the lips to an unsuspecting spouse at home. Prices are fair (including a kid's size), portions are generous, and service is friendly. Don't squander the opportunity. read more
