yum, yum, yum! After recently discovering I have food allergies, I came across this little bake shop on social media. I was so excited to try this place after I saw that they catered to people who are gluten free and vegans. That's why when I found myself in Ridgefield, I had to stop by. The staff was very accommodating and happy to answer any questions. I ordered a slice of the Chocolate Bourbon NO PECAN bars. DELICIOUS. Heaven in your mouth. Couldn't leave with just one, so I took two more to go. Paired with one of their cappuccinos, this made for an enjoyable experience. I definitely recommend when next time you find yourself in Ridgefield, CT you make your way over. read more

We were going to see family and wanted to bring some desserts. One of my cousins is allergic to gluten. Cake Box is a gluten free bakery so it was a no brainer. People were lined up before they opened. After tasting the desserts, I could see why. First time trying gluten free was better than expected. We ordered a few different items. I think my favorite was the cupcake. I didn't try the birthday cake, but the others were airy and moist. The fillings in the middle were tasty. Stop in here even if you aren't allergic to gluten. What a special treat! Nice little bakery with multiple treat selection. Too many to choose from. Ordered a cup of latte to go with my red velvet sweet cupcake and my vanilla carmel icing cupcake. The store is so cute and the owner and employees are very friendly and helpful. The baked goods are delicious. My Grand daughter has Celiac and can't have gluten. She loves the bake goods here. I'm not sure when it happened but so much frosting in their cakes and the cake part is very fluffy. I LOVED their cakes 9 years ago because the ratio was perfect cake:frosting and the cake was dense & moist. Making my own cakes for the past couple of years. :( read more

We helped celebrate our grandsons 3 rd birthday this past Saturday with one of your very large GF/vegan cakes. WOW!!!!!!!! I've had to change to a GF diet 19 years ago for health reasons and your cake has been the best that I have ever eaten!!!!! No one at the party could tell the difference. Bravo!!!! I was told they have a large selection of allergy-safe baked goods. It did not disappoint at all. I tried all gluten-free and they tasted really good. My favorite was the oatmeal raisin cookie. It was soft chewy and taste delicious. I would recommend all of their gluten-free choices. I didn't fully care for the lemon zest cake, the glaze on top wasn't my favorite. The bundt cake I would fight one of my brothers for. Now, I'm not one for sweets but I would do a Chandler victory dance for every bite that I just enjoyed. "Cake Box" is the real deal for an allergy ridden person who may enjoy sweets. Don't fight yourself by not trying this establishment out. My next go around I'm trying all vegan choices. read more

The customer service was spectacular. The girl behind the counter was extremely patient and willing to help make my cake design work. Ultimately my friend who is a baker volunteered to help get our exact wishes which could only be done in fondant. I bought 4 cupcakes to go (s'mores, salted caramel, birthday cake and coffee they all were delicious. My favorite were the salted caramel and s'mores. I also bought a box of gluten free to go and they were equally delicious and my family didn't know they were GF. If you are in the area (or even if you aren't) I wrongly recommend stopping by. read more

TRULY theeee best gluten free chocolate chip cookies I've ever had. I live in TX and first had these several years ago while visiting my family who lives here. I am in town again visiting & couldn't wait to come here to get some more of the cookies that I've been literally dreaming about since the first time I tried them. It is extremely rare to find gluten free baked goods (especially cookies) with the dense, chewy texture of the "real thing", but somehow this place does it with ease. Dense, rich, chewy, chocolatey...just enough sea salt sprinkled on top for balance. SO SO SO good. Even better than I remembered. I'm gonna have to have my family send me some of these soon. read more

There is no need to sugar coat The Cake Box as they serve the most moist, heavenly cupcakes around!! You simply can't go wrong with any cupcake you order. After having an awful cupcake experience at a bakery in Franklin Lakes, NJ, I was very delighted to have cupcakes from The Cake Box. We got a variety (including the mini) for the family, but the ones I ended up getting were the Sweet & Salty and the Old Fashioned. These cupcakes are DELICIOUS!! Very moist, soft, and fresh. I'm not a pastry donut girl so this is revolutionary. A friend brought me birthday cupcakes for a night out in the city. I had one. A salted Carmel tasting one. Magnificent!!! When I got into my apartment I realized I didn't have my wallet about the same time I noticed I left my cupcakes. Honestly, I was more upset about the cupcakes than my wallet. I'm a big fan of the cake box. For starters the special occasion and birthday cakes have so many choices and options, be prepared to spend time looking at all of them or create your own and see what they can do. Next the cupcakes are a must, drop in and get one, again so many choices. Next, the cookies are my personal favorites and sometimes sell out before big holidays. The secret is getting out. Next, gluten free or nut free no worries they got you covered. Last, the owner is such a big supporter of the town, of the bike club and so many charities about town, we are lucky to have them. read more

A very cute place in Ridgefield, which is a bit hidden, but once you discover them that's where you would be headed for your cupcakes. The place has a wide variety of cupcake choices and I ended up trying the sweet and salty and the vanilla coconut, and both were amazing. Though if I had to make a pick I would go for the sweet and salty. There is seating both inside and outside with about three tables that seats roughly two to three people I side. The girl at the counter was also very helpful and attentive. Definitely will become a local favorite. read more

I was looking for a bakery that didn't use nuts in their product and would be gluten free for my guests. I have been to many bakeries in Europe and also in the states and I have never really looked at reviews before actually going to a bakery. I started reading the reviews about The Cake Box which were all wonderful with the exception of one. Reading the response to that bad review from the Cake Box made me want to go there to see for myself. I purchased a chocolate cake and 8 cupcakes. It was the best cake I have ever eaten and my guests agreed. The cupcakes were moist and fresh and absolutely tasted homemade. Never go by any review. There was a line to the door so that also tells you that Ridgefield knows what they have. Absolutely fabulous!! When I want a desert that I know will be a crowd pleaser I will be coming to The Cake Box read more

The Cake Box is amazing. I'm from out of town, but I was in Connecticut to visit friends with my husband. I can't eat any gluten, and The Cake Box had some of the most delicious gluten-free cupcakes I've ever had in my life. I can't believe they are gluten-free. I bought a pack of little cupcakes and brought them to a party because there were a couple of gluten-free people there, and I bought four regular-sized cupcakes for myself. I got a pumpkin cupcake, a carrot cake cupcake, a funfetti cupcake, and an apple crumble cupcake. I had a few of the mini cupcakes and they were really good. I've been eating the regular cupcakes and WOW they were incredible. I think I would even say that the cupcakes were better than most cupcakes with gluten that I've had, that's how incredible they are. They also had other gluten-free choices. read more

Amazing (pricey) cakes, cupcakes and baked goods but terrible service. They don't answer their phone and when you leave a message, it will take you three days to hear back. I don't know why they don't get online ordering because I couldn't find it on their website. Swoon is amazing. I stopped in today to pick up some treats and was super impressed with the assortment of gluten-free goodies they had. I immediately tried the chocolate chunk cookie with sea salt, which was incredible. Soft, chewy and packed with chunks of chocolate and it's GLUTEN-FREE! It doesn't get better than this people. Robert has 25 years of experience in the restaurant industry and has been crafting beautiful, custom cakes since 2010 when he and his wife, Jordan Gregory opened The Cake Box. Jordan graduated from The Institute for Culinary Education with a degree in pastry arts and is responsible for recipe creation. The items are special, well curated, and not what you'd find in a generic store like Bed, Bath, and Beyond, which is exactly the point of an adorable shop like this in downtown Ridgefield. The pictures on yelp so far don't do it justice, I wish I'd taken some to show how nicely merchandised the store is. Elizabella's has all sorts of food supplies like fondant, sprinkles, and assorted fancy sugars. There are also unique boxed mixes, like one for apple cider or pumpkin (baked instead of fried) donuts, or a dog biscuit mix with a little bone-shaped cookie cutter. There is also a ton of unique cake molds and serving trays. Every imaginable shape of bundt pan, plus ceramic bowls and trays, and some neat retro-style coffee and tea canisters. I bought a huge bottle of good quality vanilla on a previous visit that I'm still using, plus they have a ton of extract flavors with your typical mint or almond, plus more exotic like chocolate hazelnut. There are also the assorted kitchen accessories like aprons, napkins, placemats, decorative mixing bowls beyond boring clear glass, and a variety of teas. Definitely worth a visit!

The article references the Savoy Hotel, Danny Meyer's hospitality group, "the pursuit of excellence," and repeated commitments to quality and consistency. So I thought perhaps, at long last, the espresso situation had been resolved. Reader, it had not. I ordered a Cortado to stay. "Would you like that in a mug for here or a paper cup?" An encouraging start. I then positioned myself beside the espresso machine like a wildlife documentarian returning to observe a rare but persistent behavioral phenomenon. The barista dosed the portafilter, then tamped the coffee while holding the portafilter in midair, applying what appeared to be approximately the amount of pressure required to test whether an avocado is ripe. He locked it into the machine and pressed start. Brown liquid immediately exploded from the spouts with absolutely no delay whatsoever. The shot was over in roughly four seconds. For those unfamiliar with espresso, this is generally considered suboptimal. The resulting Cortado tasted primarily of hot milk and faintly burnt coffee sadness. After two and a half confirmation sips, I quietly left the remainder on the counter and departed. At this point I no longer review Ross's espresso. I monitor it.

When we went on a late Sunday morning the live music was just wrapping up. The people working there are very nice. When you go, expect a line - heard it wraps around outside. You can order ahead. I don't eat bagels often - and this place was totally worth it!!!
