Purchased a a/c & heating system from Cool Aid and I am very pleased with their work. Took \time to…read moreexplain the system. Very neat and very customer friendly. Pricing was very competitive. I give them 5 stars Norm Goldenberg

We bought a very expensive dehumidifier from Cool-Aid Co. for our home's crawlspace. We have just…read morelearned that the two Cool-Aid workers who installed the dehumidifier either broke the fan or did not inform us that the fan was broken when they pulled it from the box. The dehumidifier never functioned other than to make a lot of noise, which increased to intolerable levels over time. After several months of increasing noise, I flipped off the fuse to cut the power to the dehumidifier. We are in our 70s with health problems so we don't go into the crawlspace. Recently we had a different company check the dehumidifier and he pulled the humidifier out of the crawlspace and showed us that the fan was broken. He said there were pieces of the fan on the floor of the crawlspace. His guess was the Cool-Aid crew dropped it down in the crawlspace and broke the fan and that is why the dehumidifier made so much noise. Also, the tubing that should have been connected from the dehumidifier to the sump pump drain was still coiled up in the compartment that is supposed to hold the water drawn from the air, as shown in the attached photo. The water compartment was clean as a whistle, as was the filter, so clearly no water had ever entered the machine in the months it operated. The Cool-Aid crew apparently knew that the dehumidifier would never work. They had never bothered to even set up the tubing to carry the water taken out of the air and drain it into the sump pump. That indicates that they knew the dehumidifier would not function. What other explanation could there be? Certainly we expected that it would be connected to the drain and sump pump: we would not have been physically able to go into the crawlspace and empty the water compartment constantly. When I contacted Cool-Aid a week ago, the owner's response was that it was too late because the warranty had expired after one year. He did not come to look at the broken fan. He did not offer to try and fix the dehumidifier. It is not a warranty issue because there is evidence that the Cool-Aid installation crew broke the fan of the dehumidifier down in the crawlspace. Since it was broken by the Cool-Aid crew, the warranty would be not be any good. It is not the manufacturer's fault that the Cool-Aid crew broke the dehumidifier while installing it. Why did we wait so long? First, we didn't know we had been cheated and thought eventually the dehumidifier could be fixed. But operating without a fan destroyed the motor. Second, I was being treated for cancer and with covid raging and my suppressed immune system, we could not have anyone in the house. Bottom line: Cool-Aid ripped us off and refused to do anything to remedy the situation.
