Important disclaimer, I think you either going to love or hate this place. No, you are not going to get a free car wash or a red carpet treatment, if that's what you are looking for, go elsewhere! This place reminded me of the service stations next to the gas station in the 80s and 90s. Look at the pictures and you might see what I mean. Oil smell, cardboard on the floor to cover the grease, and it does not look like they are computerized... I went there because the engine bottom cover fell off on one of our cars. We are new to the area, I drove around and nobody was willing to help with this simple job. Even though they were busy, they graciously took me in, and gave me a very reasonable quote. I sat there for about 45-minutes, and I saw many regular customers coming in and out, smog checks, oil changes, something wrong with the car please help (just like me), I saw how they took care of everyone with sincerity and care. Assuring this lady they have test driven her car, there is nothing wrong with her car and there is no charge. I feel they are honest, they do a good job, and charge a reasonable price. There are few mechanics these days that you can really trust. Tony is the one our family has entrusted all of the cars we have ever owned for upkeep. As far as I can remember, he has always been upfront about what is necessary and what is recommended. He is keenly aware of the cost for repairs may be not affordable by all. I've had brake and transmission fluid replacement deferred forever it seems on my 2013 Kia. He recommended these and I agreed to do them. He also tested and replaced my battery, since the other was in its last legs. The good thing about all the work is he guarantees the work is as good as he would have done for family. I appreciate especially that his sister Mary will also follow up with a call to let you know the work is done. In addition, with the pandemic still not over, he donned a mask when I came into the service desk. That's a very kind gesture and pretty much seals my opinion of the type of service provided here. He even suggested that we try to sell an older clunker (2004 Honda) on Carvana to get the best return on it. Highly recommended. read more

Got a smog check before and they were able to help as well. Got my cable replaced for Honda civic 2012 because patch that opens gas cap and trunk malfunctioned. Came here because my MIL recommended it. I have brought my car here twice and both times I've left with bigger problems. First time I came for an oil change but somehow I needed all my spark plugs changed. I didn't know better so I said ok change them. Second time I came for a smog check and left with "hole" in my gas tank. There was a fine cut to the gas line. He told me it was a simple fix but Toyota charges for the entire gas tank ($800+) just to get the little gas line part that had a hole in it. It wasn't a hole, it was very obvious someone took some shears a nicked it really quick. Not ever coming here again. They take advantage of people who aren't knowledgeable in cars. After this happened to me another friend said same exact hole was in his gas line on the same spot on his car after taking it to be checked at this place. read more

Tony and his crew are amazing. We have had our 2012 Camry worked on many times, parts replaced etc. and it continued to have a grinding/ shaking noise for years. According to other auto shops it was normal. We took our car in today because of a friend recommendation. He found many problems which was a concern. They were all fixed quickly/ professionally for a great price. The car has not sound this amazing and driven this smooth since being purchase back in 2012. Immensely happy. At the times that I have a major service to my car, Tony always takes the time to explain and show the reason a part needs replacement or service is needed. This part's my fault I waited too long to come back and address this issue, but was hoping the company at least had customer records kept somewhere on a computer. Turns out this isn't true, so there's no way for them to look me up and when I got the smog check with them at this business. I assumed they would take care of sending the info to the DMV, so it's disappointing that something went wrong here and now I have to go get another smog check. read more

I've been coming here for a while now to get mostly minor service and concerns addressed through the shop owner, Tony. Recommended by a friend and his family many years ago, this shop performs many services like oil changes, rotations, and major services for cars like Hondas, Toyotas, and Nissans. I came here Saturday afternoon after noting a nail in my right rear tire. While the dealer would have charged me $30, Tony did it for $10 and I was on my way within 15 minutes. It was an effortless fix, and his family was kind enough to chat with me while I waited. They didn't try to up-sell me on any services, and never have. That's one of the biggest reasons I keep coming back when I need something. I have also noted that Tony does all major OEM services and after speaking with him about new Toyota standards for oil changes, I found out that he uses genuine Toyota 0W-20 motor oil for the oil changes as recommended. Using anything else is not recommended with the new Toyota cars (otherwise the intervals are less than 10k miles), so I was happy to hear about this and thought it should be noted. I'll definitely be back for all my basic services and when I need a second opinion outside of my automotive handiwork. read more

Don't go this shop. First visit they told me 35 dollars for labor and told me come on next Monday. On Monday they told me 35 dollars only for checking, and still not sure if they can fix it. I turned around to the K&G SHOP. The one just across the Norwalk Blvd from this shop. I only paid $15 dollars to get my car fixed. And very quickly. What a difference! read more

TH Smog are nice people. They used to be our test and repair choice and up until our most recent experience I would have rated them at 5 stars. Up until recently we would take Tony a failed smog test and he would fix it and we would go back to the test only place and pass time after time. But something has changed and despite numerous re-tests and paying for additional test only chances Tony has let us down more than a handful of times in a row. To be fair, he has not charge for the second, third, fourth or fifth effort, but we had to pay the test only place and that is why we have to stop using TH for pretest. (It is costing us money to keep going back to the test only and failing). TH does run a good shop with fair prices, service and turn around time. They do clean work and you would never even know that they were there which is hard to say in mechanic shops. We will likely use TH for repair work in the future, though we are looking for a new test and repair place to pretest with. read more

Trustworthy mom-and-pop shop. They will tell you exactly how it is and whether something is even worth fixing in an old beat-up car. I have trusted Tony and Mary for years and they know my car as soon as I walk in through the door. Sometimes I get lazy and forget to pick up my car and they're okay picking it up the next day. I have a 2003 and a 2007 that's still running with hardly any major repairs. It is hard to find honest auto service nowadays and I'm so glad I met these guys. read more

TH auto is still a honest/fair price shop, but what Tony (the owner) did is just not acceptable. I have been a customer for almost 7 years, I would still give him a low score. I have a rather complicated job on my 33 years old mercedes where the only way to replace the part is to cut out the old one. I told him on the phone that it is gonna required the part to be cut out (literally with a saw) and he still thinks that he can do it, told me to bring the car in. Its been 4 days after my car being tow to the shop. After two separate phone call where he told me that "he will look at it LATER". I knew he is not doing it, just trying to get us to take back the car by putting it off. I know because this is not my first time a car shop use this tactics on us. read more

TH Auto is a humble auto service establishment in the city of Artesia. It's been around for years and it'owned and operated by Tony Ton, a great guy who gets the job done without any BS. His wife operates the front desk while he and his team do most of the auto work. I mainly come here whenever one of my cars needs a smog check. I should note that smog checks are their bread and butter, it seems. The other customers that were here when I visited last week were also in for smog checks. Why's that, you ask? That's because his prices are low. He serves mainly the Chinese and Asian clientele of the Cerritos/Artesia region and so seeking bargains is something that his target demographic regularly partake in. He also services just about every make and model (we have seven different cars at my home, and he's worked on all of them). So how long does a smog check take? 30 minutes. It's no joke...assuming you call ahead or come when it's slow. In that time, you may want to consider walking across the street to Taco Bell or Burger King, or hell, DJ Bibinkahan or Kiko's Lechon Manok (roasted chicken) if it's the right time of day. read more

I scoured Yelp for good smog check locations-- this place had high marks and was close by. Score! I called, and they said "C'mon by!" They had told me it'd take about 30 minutes, but in reality, it look less time. Perfect for me since I had a lot to do. Tony conducted my smog check, and while I was waiting, his wife came around and chatted with me. They were both very friendly. The price for the smog check was ~$45, including the certificate.
