I came in a hot mess with several different bands of color: orange, brown, natural root, brassy yellow highlights and a grown out, unflattering cut. I showed Ellie like 15 different goal pics, and a confusing, oxymoronic explanation of what I wanted. Well, Ellie understood me perfectly and when she dried the first section of my hair my jaw was on the floor. I told her I just wanted to look like me again (natural dishwater blonde, which is hard to nail with color). Her color combo was perfect, the application was flawless, and now 4 days later my hair still feels so healthy, bouncy, and full of life. Wonderful service. I went to Kalyan who took time to understand what kind of cut I wanted. The wash was good, I have long hair so some salons tend to miss out on the wash, and the hair cut was exactly what I wanted. Reasonably priced, it includes hair wash, cut and blow dry. Unlike some salons where these services are a la carte. They offer beverages - water, coffee/tea, hard seltzer :) Their online appt portal didn't let me book an eyebrow wax, I asked if they can accommodate me and they were happy to include that after my hair service. My eyebrows were taken care by Alaina, again very friendly. I had some corrections after and she fixed them to my liking. Ambience, hospitality of the staff and the beverage selection makes this salon feel very luxurious. As a POC I'm sometimes concerned about the salons I chose to visit, this is a place I'd go back and feel welcomed. read more

I walked in for a haircut appointment with Jessica, and was greeted by Jessica and also the cutest French Bulldog, resident staff member. I received a mini head massage with shampoo and conditioner. It was relaxing! I have medium length hair, and my hair trim took just under an hour. It turned out great!! Firstly, the studio is gorgeous. Second, I've been seeing Kaylan for almost 2 years already and it has been a progressive process with me getting to my desired blonde. I could not speak highly enough of the hair stylists. I started going to Kalyan to get my hair cut about 3 years ago when she worked at a different studio. After 2 years of bad balayage treatments because of my dark hair, Kaylan nailed it the first time and the color was exactly what I wanted (softer browns, with some lighter strands) and after she toned it such that it wouldn't become a blond-caramel (the default tone for anyone that has black hair) it retained its color and faded beautiful. So excited I found my new hair salon! I came across J&Co on yelp when I was looking for somewhere in my new neighborhood so I need to give back and say that the reviews are absolutely true. The salon is GORGEOUS and so wonderfully styled. Nice couches and water, coffee, tea, white claw, or beer were offered. My appointment was with Kaylan and she was wonderful. She listened to what I wanted, a couple of inches off to get rid of the dead ends and bring up my layers. She did exactly that And there was no miscommunication at all. I'm so so happy with how my hair turned out. Blowout looks amazing and I can't wait until my next one. Nelson is a magical color genius who totally saved my hair. I was in town for two weeks from LA- where I just had my hair color ruined- a splotchy, bright yellow, horrifying blonde. I was literally embarrassed to go outside and needed it fixed ASAP. I was staying in Bucktown and reached out to the salon, and Nelson kindly asked for photos so she could thoughtfully assess the damage and see what my hair goals were. She was able to fit me in that week, and lo and behold- she TRANSFORMED my hair into beautiful, dimensional, healthy blonde locks.
