I was in an accident and broke my ankle, disabling me from getting to the salon, outside of the allotted cancellation window. The salon is charging me a 50% fee for cancellation. Although I understand and respect cancellation fees, true accidents happen that are out of our control. Maybe instilling a one time cancellation to be more accommodating to the edge cases would be a happy medium between customers and employees. The stylist may have lost out on another booking due to the one time cancellation, but now they've lost more than one booking from me. read more

I came in a few months ago and saw a newer artist who was one of the "lower level" stylists at the salon- I am a third year podiatric medical student with not much money to spare. I save up to get two hair cuts (and normally a color each time) per year. It was $240 Before Tip for a straight cut just below my shoulders (I am exactly five foot) with some face framing pieces, with a general wash/dry/style (by style I mean whatever she did with the hair dryer to add dimension). No bangs, no layers, nothing special. I came in for the cut and color consultation (color is apparently separate from the cut, you must return later for it). I was told for a cut and two color shades (balayage) it would be roughly $460 (Before Tip). I decided to go ahead with the cut and after I paid out to see what I felt comfortable spending for a color. I am used to spending about $400 on cut, color, wash/dry/style, Including tip, and was the laughing stock of Thanksgiving when I announced how much I spent on a simple hair cut. If prices are "$56-122" for a scissor cut, how was the wash/dry/style at least $100? I find the pricing deceptive and feel underwhelmed with what I received for what I paid. I have to leave a raving review for Logan Parlor after having such an incredible experience yesterday. I feel like haven't stopped smiling! I walked in excited to get a brand new look (went for a queer cut) and felt so welcomed, seen, and understood. Jamie, the owner, sat with me as I showed a couple photos of what I was wanting and she was so nurturing the entire time. They even let me cut off the last braid of long hair! I have been getting my hair cut here for over 10 years. Booked an appt. a couple months out and forgot about it, there normal protocol is to call or text a reminder to the customer at least 48 hrs before their appt. If you don't cancel 48 hrs before your appt. you get charged with a $40 cancellation fee. Understandable, if there is a reminder provided. No such reminder this time and now I'm being charged $40 for trying to reschedule... not cancel, just reschedule. I hope that $40 goes to my barber because I can't justify getting my haircut here anymore. They will say it's to protect their stylists... but if you lose business over it, I'd say it's quite the opposite. Sad to see this spot has moved away from being the customer/neighborhood friendly parlor it started as. read more

The ladies were nice and sweet... i was offered complimentary drinks: water, ice tea and wine... my stylist's name is Chontel.. she's very sweet but as soon as i saw the work she's done to me, I INSTANTLY regreted getting my hair cut... All i wanted was a nice blunt cut bangs and this girl cut my hair all the way accross my forehead and super short, i told her to blend in the edges and well, she messed it up even more, the left side is thicker than the right... and is uneven... After telling her my story about my hair, that i have not had a haircut for 3 years... and well!!! I recently moved to the neighborhood and was looking to switch up salons. I am very hesitant to let people touch my hair (too many bad experiences), so I was nervous. My hair was SUPER damaged, patchy, uneven, and just plain gross on the ends. This place had great reviews and was super close to me, so I decided to try it out. First of all, this place is SO CUTE INSIDE. I didn't know they were a redken salon. I was offered tea, coffee, or water and they even had cookies! For my hair, I had Amy; she was very nice, friendly, knowledgable, and knew exactly what I wanted when I was describing it to her. My hair was extremely damaged from bleaching it out a while ago, so we did a deep conditioning treatment and she cut all the shaggy dead parts off. Every few minutes, she would ask how I was feeling about it, she would tell me why she was doing what to each section, and gave me styling and care tips. I knew my hair was in bad shape, and now it looks fab! It's about collarbone length, the shortest I've ever cut, and I love it. It looks so much healthier! I love her as a woman and an artist and I am so honored to be her client! Ryna's super intelligent and learned. She's a good listener and she'll parrot back what you tell her so you know you've been heard and that you'll get the result you want and expect. She is detail-oriented and she will stop at nothing to achieve your desired look. She can literally achieve *any* look I've ever asked for. Further, if you follow her on Instagram, @rynajerrickredken, she'll message back-and-forth with you. For me, this is one of the most helpful parts of making hair decisions because she'll answer my questions for weeks which helps me fine tune and adjust what I want to do! Further, she is a color genius. I call her hair color mixes "potions" because she mixes colors so your color is unique to you! I really appreciate the effort she puts into making unique color mixes. I love this parlor so much. They hosted my small wedding party in December and were the most caring and patient among all the chaos we brought in- just your usual wedding-day chaos, but Logan Parlor made us feel soooooo at ease. If there is one characteristic their parlor does 100%, it's caring. Ryna also does FIRE make up. She did my wedding make up and all my wedding party's makeup. She used airbrush on me and my party and we looked amazing :-)! Shouts also to Kyrie who styled my hair and all of my wedding party's hair! This woman is incredible and gentle and is a hair genius. This salon is very chill and very welcoming! I am not local to Chicago/Logan Square, but my pixie cut was in dire need of assistance after six weeks on the road. Amy rescued my sad-looking hair and interpreted exactly what I wanted, and she was also very friendly and quick. She showed me an easy way to style the cut which I appreciated - Amy clearly knows how to adapt haircuts and advice for the individual client and it shows! The whole experience was great, and the salon even provided me with fun stickers and a temporary tattoo to take home. This is a long overdue review for Logan Parlor as well as the wonderful Leslie! After years of thinking about it, I decided to take the plunge and get a full highlight on my super fine, thin and naturally dark blonde hair as a belated birthday present to myself. On a whim I checked out the stylist bio's on Logan Parlor's page and noticed Leslie mention she loved to make blondes blonder. Perfect! The space is amazing. Super clean, welcoming and lovely to spend a saturday afternoon getting pampered in. Everyone was incredibly nice and friendly (including my new best dog friend). The whole thing felt special and casual from beginning to end. Leslie is AWESOME. She sat with me and talked through what I was thinking and let me pull up some pictures on pinterest (yes, I was that girl). She also totally listened when I said I was open to what she thought would be best for my face shape/coloring. She gave me some super amazing platinum highlights, using my natural color as lowlights, and a very cute lob. I feel like the ultimate lob test is how it grows out and this puppy has grown out beautifully. I'm so excited to go back in a couple of weeks for my color touch-up and a trim. I have enough difficulty finding someone comfortable working with extremely curly hair like mine. I'm biracial and my hair has some very specific needs, so finding a salon or stylist that actually knows how my hair needs to be cut, or the care that goes into its upkeep, is rare. Before I moved to Chicago I only let my brother cut my hair because I've had some serious encounters with bad haircuts and stylists giving me really inaccurate advice on what to put in my hair to keep it healthy. There have been too many times I've gambled on a new stylist or salon and walked out with no hair at all or with products that dried out my scalp to the point of physical discomfort. That being said, I have been going to Logan Parlor for a few months now and I can safely say I love the salon! Amy cuts my hair, but the entire staff is incredibly friendly. You can tell everyone is encouraged to learn more and refine their craft. Amy helped me pick out a haircut after some hesitation on my part - I couldn't decided exactly what I wanted to do - and she was able to perfectly translate what I asked for into a realistic haircut. If you don't believe me, go look at her instagram: I'm the foxy boy with pink nails. Yes, I know I'm pretty, but that is beside the point! The point being when I go into a salon I expect a very personal experience. I'm not very comfortable letting other people touch, let alone assess, my hair, but Amy not only remembers how I like my hair cut and handled, but also what I do in my day to day life and how my hair plays a part in that routine. I also think it is necessary to discuss something being alluded to in other reviews. As a person of color, my hair has some very specific needs and limits. What I love about Amy and the folks at Logan Parlor is their discretion when it comes to trying to satisfy customers needs that might not be realistic. They are more concerned with the health of your hair and its longevity than grafting a temporary and ultimately unhealthy look on your head. This is incredibly ethical and thoughtful on the behalf of the stylists and the salon as a whole. It means they value you above your money and want to have a long-term relationship in which you and your hair benefit. 5/5 read more

The owners of Logan Parlor have done a fantastic job creating a contemporary space that still retains the charm of Logan Square. Lots of exposed brick mixed in with polished wood. I was there on a Saturday afternoon and was offered a mimosa (win!), but they also had craft coffee and tea. Jaime did a top notch job on my cut and color. She does a really amazing job suggesting color that will go well with your skin tone, but also that will transition well into the next season. I highly suggest her if you want to go red! This is definitely a salon with really educated employees that don't act stuffy or superior. Oh...and there's two toy sized hypoallergenic dogs. They are really sweet and will sit on your lap if you want or are happy to hang out one of the chairs. A good way to get your puppy fix. read more

I should probably mention first off, that I have never been to a salon or anything of this caliber, and have not had my hair cut by another person for a few years (aside from one very talented friend). So my experience here is seen through that lens. That said, I had an absolutely amazing time here. From initially walking in and being offered a complimentary coffee, water, or beer (I went with the coffee), I knew I was somewhere pretty damn great. I showed up early, and my stylist, Kyrie, was right on time in getting me for my appointment. We sat down and talked about my hair, and what I wanted out of it. Short version is that I hadn't been growing my hair out the best, and so I wanted to take off some of the length and get a new style. She perfectly understood exactly what I was going for, and gave me a good wash and cut that I fell in love with as I was watching it get done in the mirror. As an added bonus, she recommended me a product they have in store for my hair type. I usually avoid getting anything extra at places performing a service, but it was fairly priced for hair product, so I decided to try for it and see how it went. That was about a week ago, and I am still using it everyday, because Kyrie was right on and it has had my hair looking amazing. I already have a follow up appointment for a touch up for my fade, and I'm looking forward both to that *and* my appointment after when I'll be in for another haircut. Also, place & staff is super queer friendly, from the gender neutral bathroom to the at-ease conversations I was able to have with my stylist. I can't recommend this place enough! I was lucky enough to happen upon an appointment as a walk-in. I therefore had few preconceived notions about the place. I was paired up with Kate and she was amazing! If you're looking for an expert in color, look no further than Jamie D. She mixes the best red hair color I've ever seen. I get complements about my hair all the time, and people think it's natural. Jamie is so good about working with you about the color and how much money you want to put into your hair. I moved to Logan Square last summer and I have been looking for a new place to get my hair cut. This place is literally a 1 minute walk from my apartment and I always see the pride flag hanging outside and the inside just looked so cute, I had to try it out. I was looking for an environment based on collaboration and working with the stylist to figure out the best way to cut my hair. I had Julia and she's an apprentice and she did absolutely amazing. I was afraid that I wouldn't like the big change (my hair was long and straight and she cut it to be a short shag with front bangs), but she made me feel confident and she gave me lots of tips on how to style and take care of my hair. She was the sweetest ever and just such a pleasure to be around. She recommended this treatment (I think it was called PH balance or something like that) and it wasn't too expensive and it really helped revive my hair and make it look healthier than before. She did an amazing job and I will definitely be coming back and requesting Julia to help me with my hair again! read more
