Extremely Disappointed I brought my car to J&jAuto Repair in late July because of the positive reviews. Before J&j diagnosed my car, I specifically explained that other shops had already replaced the coils and spark plugs, but the same problem kept coming back after a month or two. Despite knowing this history, I paid approximately $180 for a diagnostic and was told I needed the coils and spark plugs replaced again, costing me about $700, i authorized the work and once again the car ran smooth right after this. About two months later, the exact same issue returned. I called them and was told to bring the car back but communication was very poor. I had to repeatedly call for updates and ultimately lost another day of work waiting for answers. I was eventually told the coils and spark plugs were fine and that my car needed a Honda software update. They gave me a Honda service bulletin and sent me to the dealership. I took another day off work, only to have Honda tell me that **the bulletin did not apply to my vehicle--it was for the 2.0L engine, while mine is the 1.5L--and my software was already up to date. After this experience, I am extremely disappointed with the diagnosis, communication, and service I received waisting my time my money and the frustration of them being a professional repair shop not knowing what's wrong with my car . I will be filing a complaint with BBB, and Bureau of Automotive repair (BAR). I wanted to share my experience so other customers can make an informed decision. i do not recommend this shop as they only put band aids on your car . read more

I wanted to make this place my new go-to but they definitely finessed me. Over the phone I was quoted 99 dollars for an oil change, after the service I was billed 150. The oil price was inflated 2-3x, filter price 4x even if they were oem. 5 quarts of ow-16 shouldn't be 90 dollars, even from original manufacturer msrp not discounted was 50 for 6 quarts. They were nice people but it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth especially when they inflate the price in your face. read more

I came to J&J Auto Repair on two occasions, one time with my 2001 Civic that had issues and then recently with my 2020 Civic. I took my janky old Civic here around January 2020 and they were super helpful and explained everything to me about what was wrong with my vehicle. They even asked me if I had a ride or a way to get back home before dropping off the car, but luckily I'm only a 3 minute walk away. :) Unfortunately there was a multitude of issues with the old Civic and they understood my decision not to go through any repairs because I thought it wasn't worth it for a an almost 20 year old car. Fortunately I was able to upgrade my ride and I took my new Civic for its 15k mile service last week. I decided to come back here since the dealership is too expensive for services and because of the close proximity. My experience with J & J started when I noticed that my wife's car needed some work done. I took it for a drive and the steering wheel was super wobbly. I knew right off the bat something wasn't right because when I would brake at higher speeds, the wobbling would occur. I took it to the shop, they diagnosed the problem, told me that she needed new brakes and rotors all the way around as well as front suspension work. Couple months later my wife needed her water pump replaced and it's about 12 hours worth of labor to get to the water pump on her vehicle. Between both of these huge repairs J & J Auto Repair came to the rescue. Believe me when I say, I shopped around and nobody is beating their prices for the quality of work that they are doing, and it just goes to show due to their outstanding reviews and high ratings on Yelp. Juan is super transparent about everything that's going on behind the scenes in the shop. And Adrian at the front desk has been a huge help. They gave me a reasonable quote and time estimate so I scheduled a time to come in. They met the time estimate and the work was flawless. I was looking for a new mechanic since Jim's Automotive in Hayward retired after the pandemic, he was the best! If I can't fix it myself I take our 2004 Scion xB to a shop. It wasn't starting and the battery was 4 years old so I replaced it and it started right up! 3 starts later it wouldn't start again. So I figured starter or alternator?
