My car was broke down but I was able to drive to the shop. They were closing but I just wanted to talk because it was an emergency. I stood there and said hello and they ignored me for 20 minutes. No one said a thing to me just looked at me and my car angrily. I called roadside service in front of them and talked loud enough for them to hear. I kept seeing them look at me for the whole time but no one said a word. While calling my tow truck someone came up to me and said I have to move my car. I told him I've been here and my car is broken down. No one wants to talk to me. He said I need an appointment. I told him I just wanted to talk if there's a car repair near or anything. She knows the owner, Lu. We left the vehicle with Lu on a Friday morning. Repairs and smog were done, and the car was ready for pickup three days later. Lu and the employees were helpful. S&K Auto Repair is the best repair shop I have experienced with, like other customers, I went to this place because it had great reviews on Yelp, and I was sold based on the quality and quantity of reviews. When I called Lu, he was very polite and very understanding, and because of the amount of volume he has a day, you have to schedule an appointment with him. I told him about my schedule, and how I wouldn't be able to pick it up some days, and he said it was completely fine, if he fixed it on this day, and I can come back the next day to pick it up. My car had issues starting up correctly, and would die intermittently, and I explained everything to him over the phone. I dropped my car off on Monday, and I knew it would be multiple days to fix, since he explained it to me over the phone. Every time he had an update, he would call, or leave a voice mail explaining the details, and keeping me up to date. He told me the exact estimates, with tax and no hidden fees or cost, and asked if I wanted to proceed before doing the work, which I agreed. All in all this is a wonderful and trustworthy Auto Repair shop, not only Lu provides accurate estimates, and communicates effectively, but the work Lu and his other mechanics do is fantastic and quick. As other reviewers mentioned, Lu is a skilled communicator and a gifted mechanic with a lot of experience. As he said, car mechanics, just like doctors, could be of different expertise levels. Lu's expertise is the best! He managed my expectations by not promising me what he couldn't deliver, but by outlining that before he knows what is wrong with the car, he can't give me the timeline. But as soon as he diagnosed the car, he quickly obtained the parts and installed them. I am so grateful to have come across S&K auto! I'm a broke college student driving an 01 Ford Mustang that is running on its last leg. Mr.Lu, the owner, was very professional and straightforward. I was able to schedule an appointment with him to see my car that needed a new spark plug wire and exhaust manifold. I'm not knowledgeable in cars at all, but he took me in at the scheduled time, showed me and explained exactly what the problems were with my car, and showed me the parts he ordered and what he was going to do with them. Best mechanic shop, hands down. I have always gone to a dealer but I felt that I was only going because I did not have a trustworthy mechanic. It has been over a year now and I wish I would've came sooner, that is my only regret. I recommend this shop to everyone. They are honest and forth coming about the cost. Lu really took care of me today. My car died on the 580/80 interchange this morning. I got it started quickly enough to not ruin everyone's morning. Thankfully. After work it started right up but the check engine light came on. I got it back to S&K at 2pm and by that time it was up to its old tricks. Barely made it! It was quickly determined that a sensor needed changing. Lu took time out of a crazy schedule to perform the fix and got me my car back by 530. He gave me a very reasonable price and delivered. WOW I don't know where to begin.. wish I could rate a BIG 0!! first off let me say I have taken my car here multiple times for oil changes, engine light on etc simple stuff and service is decent. I liked and had respect for Lu and even recommended him to family and friends. I will NEVER bring my cars here ever again. I'm so disappointed,sad and angry because I was not expecting Lu to respond or n this way. Even my other friends who was going to take it, said no bc he was over charging him for a quote on his car so I'm glad he didn't get ripped off. I Always spoke highly of this shop. w a lot of respect. Do know, I'm doing this for you ppl out there who are consumers and work hard for your money. One of the most stressful situations to go through is trouble w our cars and to get them fixed and trust a mechanic to resolve this for us. I could easily just take my experience here w this shop and move on. I don't know any of you but I'd hate to see anyone experience what I'm going through right now. I paid him for a service and his guys who in all honesty we don't know if they know what they're doing. But we trust Lu so we take our cars there smh I paid him $3500!!!! And instead of fixing the problem, he and his ppl ruined the transmission!!! I took it twice to him and he keeps charging xtra this last time I had to get my truck towed to his shop and he tried to ask me again to pay $3500!!! again!!! Wow seriously?! Go ahead if you want to take your car there like u said I don't gain anything by warning you ppl from this shop. You'll find out. I almost had an accident on the freeway bc if his negligence to make sure his ppl put the transmission back correctly. Now I'm stuck w no car. Be very careful!!! He has no accountability to admit his ppl did a bad install and I'm left w no truck. 3500!!! He stole from me and tried to charge me again now I need to figure out what to do I'm sure I'm not the only that experience this and not the last I'm sure.. and yes it's tiring posting this bc idk any of you, but I'm human and I don't wish this on anyone. Background: I have a 98 Acura Integra. It had been sitting in my driveway for 10 years and I recently decided to bring her back to life! I really enjoy this car. About three months ago I took my car to a auto repair shop that shall remain nameless. They changed the battery and said it appears that's all that was needed. I knew the car needed some work, that's why it's been sitting for so long. About two weeks later, I can hear the brakes grinding. I let her sit a little while, trying to figure out where to take her because it's hard finding a trustworthy auto mechanic. I searched YELP and found S&K Auto Repair. I took my car in last Friday, knowing that I needed brakes and suspecting I needed more. Lu was very honest with me. He gave me a quote for just the brakes and then a quote for brakes and rotors. Before I left, he checked the car over and immediately found a leak under the hood. My driveway had evidence of a leak, I didn't know for sure. Lu kept me posted with updates and I really appreciated it. I knew the car needed work, it barely passed smog, I just couldn't understand why the previous mechanic didn't see anything else that needed to be taken care of. I picked my car up yesterday and oh my, I can definitely feel the difference!!! She sounds much happier now!! Side note: my glove compartment handle wasn't screwed in and the glove compartment would fall open whenever I would hit a bump in the road, well I noticed after I hit a bump about for the third time, the glove compartment didn't pop open... low and behold, the guys put some screws in for me! I've been coming to Lu for over a year now as a recommendation of my friend Sherry. I used to bring my 'ol Betsy here. *miss you girl!* Now I'll be bringing my new (used) GG here. Lu is very honest about the work that he does. I had my starter replaced on my old Civic, transmission fluid drained and seal replaced, as well as replacing a coil. I've had same day drop in oil changes and even a smog check. Lu's prices are always fair and he tries his very best to explain what he's going to do and if a repair is necessary or if they can wait. He's taught me the importance of not neglecting my car and how expensive it can get if you do. He's also given me a great tip regarding an emergency such as theft or loss (dude where's my car?!) of my vehicle.
