I said no thanks and the owner calls me back with a backhanded apology saying they were still in within the timeframe. Then he has the nerve to tell me I'm playing games because I said they could still come check out the car but I wasn't certain I would take the offer if it changed from my original quote. Nope, not at all! My dad is a frequent here as he enjoys fixing up cars and I went with him one day because this place also sells cars and he saw one that he liked driving by. We went the day after a big snow day and were not allowed to go into the yard because of ice, which was actually really thoughtful. The guys there did help answer all of my dads questions about the vehicle and they laid it out to him honestly, telling him what was wrong with the vehicle, the make, the model, the year and an estimate on just how much it would cost to get it in good running order. I know my dad has also picked up spare parts from here and we've benefitted from it by such little things as windshield wipers and I think tires too. Just a quick note about the street it's on: it's a super commercial road so it has a lot of work trucks barreling up and down. At it's worst it has giant potholes and also can be addled with nails that have fallen off the trucks. Be wary and vigilant when driving around here!

I'm pretty sure it was the blond ponytail guy, and another guy, but they were ripping on each other so hard, and creatively, I was cracking up just standing there. They were as funny as Howard Stern (at the time, still in his prime), and I told them they should have their own radio show. Fast forward to today, I stopped in to try to junk an old car, and they were still as polite, courteous, and professional as before, only this time they went above and beyond to help me out. We couldn't make a deal, but they did refer me to a colleague who gave me the best price. Who ever is running the show over there is doing a great job, because it's always a pleasure to stop in. So when the big red disposal truck arrived with 5 little helpers, I motioned to "have at it all". I went in as someone who just had a bunch of scrap metal lying around, not as someone who hunts for…read morescrap metal to resell. I went through the main entrance and got told that the entrance was at the home depot side, so I had to carefully back out and make my way. All fair - I have to respect the line and other people's time. There were 3-4 vans ahead of me and I waited maybe 20-30 minutes. The process was smooth as someone who's not in the industry. 1) Go in and get your car weighted 2) Get directed to a spot where you will unload all your metal 3) Head towards the exit to get reweighed 4) Get paid As someone not in the industry, I was just given the value of the weight in light iron, because they wanted to get me out and not sort whatever metal I had. Thankfully I didn't have anything valuable like copper. Unfortunately, the gave me 5 cents a pound and valued everything as light iron. I had a 100 pounds (or so I'm told) and got paid $5 for it. Not worth the manual labor nor the gas used. The staff here are pretty accommodating and will direct you as needed. Not the most welcoming but definitely not rude either. When I called, I was told they would sort the metal I had for the appropriate prices. No such thing happened. They just want to get people in and out.
