Learning more about J&J Cellars during the Pleasant Valley Wine Trail Twilight Tasting made me appreciate Paso Robles even more. A family-run winery built through generations of farming, vineyard work, and genuine hospitality? Honestly... that's the kind of story that makes this region feel wonderfully human. But what really stayed with me was learning more about the Pleasant Valley Wine Trail collective itself -- 14 wineries genuinely supporting one another while also giving back through scholarship and agricultural education efforts benefiting the local community. THAT is what makes Paso different. The people here still feel connected instead of competitive, and the wineries still feel wonderfully authentic. And frankly... any winery that still believes in warm hospitality, music, gathering outdoors, and dogs being welcome already understands the assignment. This winery is out of the way a little in San Miguel, but it is not that far that you should not immediately get in your car and go there. We have never been disappointed in the wines and the price point is excellent. My personal favorite is the Zinbera (a blend of Zinfandel and Barbera and a little Petite Sirah). You would be kicking yourself later if you don't either join their club and/or buy their beautiful wines. Get a glass and sit outside under the many places around the tasting room to enjoy the wonderful surroundings of the winery. read more

There is a place for low cost wine, but it is not the supermarket. J&J is making some everyday wines which pass the test. Generally, their wines are not as heavy or complex as the typical high-end Paso guys. Their pricing is the big advantage because for very little cash, one can get a true varietal bottle of wine and serve it the same day without fear of not pleasing palates. The 2014 Juliet Fiero Sauvignon Blanc was a real winner, so we bought it at $18. Could have used a case, but with two cases of whites in the home cellar awaiting summer, we held off. Also bought the Tempranillo. It had great varietal character and was a lighter Tempranillo which is definitely ready to drink today. Our friends also bought a selection of various varietals here. They offer their Autumn Flight brand of Zinfandel and Barbera at $99/case. Now that is attractive for everyday winos. Huge facility with lots of volume production capacity. read more

One of the lower key wineries in the area and not on the beaten path. Just our kind of winery! We really don't enjoy the super upscale, more corporate places. The views are beautiful and the tasting room laid back enough for our kids (they had some nice cushiony chairs/couches that they commandeered). The service was laid back as well and friendly. This wasn't our favorite winery of the trip but I would say it was our second favorite. The wine tasting was only $5 (well priced) and we were able to taste a fair number of wines off of their list. Plus, the wines are very well priced and they are quite good. The tasting fee is waved if you purchase and we had no problem purchasing a wine. One of our favorite wines of our wine-tasting trip came from this winery (the Zinbera). It's a wonderful blend. Very enjoyable. read more

Returned after a year+ to pick up some more of that Zin-Barbera blend but they were sold out and getting ready to bottle the next year soon. Tasted 6 wines that were all good. In addition to their Zin-Barbera the Tempranillo is my favorite. J&J often offers case discounts on a specific wine giving them the highest value per $ in my eyes. They were offering the 100% Barbera at something like $80 per case. read more

I had my wedding here on June 4, 2011. J&J was the ideal location. I HIGHLY recommend this place as wedding venue or any other party venue. HIGHLIGHTS: -absolutely beautiful venue (tons of places to take photos) -the best price in the area, you can't beat it -they provide chairs, tables, wine barrels (which we used to decorate), a bbq pit, twinkle lights, a bar, sound system, refrigerator, etc, etc. -huge mirrored dressing room -clean and spacious bathrooms -you can bring in your own bartender, caterer, etc -great wine -Their hospitality and marketing staff, Elizabeth, is very easy to work with over phone, email and in person - Although it's about 15-20 minutes from town, it was easy to get too (none of guests got lost and most were from out of town) I was already really happy with J&J before the wedding, but the day of the wedding they even impressed me more. It rained that day and they had their entire staff (including the owners) out there helping make accomodations for the weather. J&J are new at hosting weddings, but I have no doubt that they will be in demand very soon. read more

Absolutely fantastic wine tasting experience, but first a little background on our trip. When we set out on a rare day off together (Easter - I usually work Sunday) I said "let's go to Paso and back in one day." We love Paso wines and the entire region, so we decided to give it a shot. 200 miles down, 200 miles back in one day, with the puppy in the backseat for company. Leave before 8am, stop for coffee and at the single rest stop on 101 on the way, and you'll be fine. We met one of the friendliest servers and had one of the best tasting room experiences I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. I'm not sure how new the winery or the tasting room is, but we chanced on it from a Yelp search for "wineries near current location" on the iPhone. We truly lucked out. Cindy was a generous and gracious server and a great conversationalist. The tasting room is flight-oriented, as the winery owner (and rancher) has (or had) a gorgeous old biplane that you can see on the wall and on some of the wine bottle artwork. We had pour after pour of fine wines, all excellent in their own right, but beware - these are all fairly strong wines. Make this an early stop, maybe before lunch, or designate a driver, or maybe just share a tasting - all good tips for a safe wine tasting afternoon. Long story short - we ended up buying a case of the '08 "Autumn Flight" Barbera, a fantastic limited-time deal at only $5/bottle, and paid the same price for an '08 Tempranillo Rosé, but beware, it's somewhat strong for a Rosé! Our wine cellar stocked, these will be our go-to wines for the spring and summer! I think every Paso Robles trip for us from here on out will feature a stop at J&J Cellars! read more

I just attended a beautiful wedding here and I must say that this has made me see how beautiful vineyard weddings are. They had everything you'd want for a perfect space for a wedding. They have a room for the bride and girls to get ready, they have a big main room (that the wedding I went to used for storage) and they have a great dance floor. If I ever was to get married, I'd really consider a central coast wedding. Lovely time, recommended most definitely. read more

Not only was J&J lovely but the wine is excellent. Tasting was complimentary and I ended up getting a few bottles. Their reds are great and also have a good price - nothing was over $20! As most of the other Yelpers have mentioned, a bottle of the Autumn Flight is a must. It also was better since cases are on sale for less than $7 a bottle. read more

We are Josh and Juli, or J&J, so we had to go to this winery. Not expecting much when we came in. Tasting started off decent with their Brut Sparkling. Not bad. Got even better with the Sauvignon Blanc, that was a winner, but then turned south with an underwhelming Chardonnay. Still underwhelmed by the 2010 Barbera and the ZinBera. Then we hit the 2012 wines. Upon discovering that there had been a change in wine makers, the 2012 wines knocked our socks off. The 2012 Petit Sirah, 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2012 Petit Verdot, and 2012 Zinfandel have earned a place in our cellar. The wines are priced very affordably for the quality and their case discounts and/or club member discounts are ridiculous. Our time in the tasting room was very enjoyable. We had a great discussion about wines with the attendant and we related on the couch while we tasted. It was a perfect wine tasting experience. read more

I just got married at J&J. The wines are not only amazing, but the venue was perfect, the staff was awesome, and they truly made my day a dream come true. I had both my ceremony and reception on the grounds... their bridal suite was perfect for the bridal party, I was able to rent dishes and silverware as well as tables and chairs... extremely affordable and convenient. I served the Barberra which is phenomenol, their chardonnay, as well as their wonderful sparkling wine! I worked with Cindy to pick the wines and she chose the perfect wines everyone would love. I love the wines as well as the atmosphere and will definitely continue to visit the winery! I have been told that the wedding exceeded everyone's expectations and that I couldn't have chosen a more beautiful winery. Thanks for everything... you truly are the best!!! read more

Love it! We were here about a month ago on a wine tour. The girl who serves the wine had a doctor's appt and stayed to take care of us. She never made us feel rushed, never checked the clock. She was very attentive and nice. So we decided to bring the famiy here when they visited. We arrived at 11 on the dot, just as they were opening, and the were packed within minutes. They had 2 girls behind the counter. Service was just as good as it was before. The girls are very nice and knowledgable. The wine..great! Our favorite is the Barbera. We bought a case on our last visit and again on this visit. You can't beat the price or the flavor. The tasting room is very nice with a gorgeous patio. I could stay there all day! If you are in Paso, you should def stop here read more

Load up your trunk on a few cases of Barberra @ $60 a case!! Amazing wine for the price point. The Zinberra is exceptional for just a bit more. Lovely staff. Incredibly affordable wine club. Love my delivery every time. The case prices are the best buy around. I have ordered large case quantities three times for charity functions and everybody raves about the wines. All around best buy in Paso winery. Another tip: Take a bottle of their Zinberra (at $6ish a bottle you can afford it!!) and bury a brisket in it along with your seasonings and a packet of onion soup mix on top. Cover and bake 6-7 hours at 200 degrees. You are going love me for this tip! Unbelievably good! read more

Cheap wine some decent some just funky. Nothing over $20. The Zinfandel and Tempranillo were decent. If you like whites then go for the Chardonnay. Nice outdoor area to hang out and have a picnic lunch. Tasting fee $5 is waived with purchase. read more

J&J Cellars is the perfect place for a wedding. The grounds are absolutely breathtaking. There is a bridal room for the girls to get ready in, which was a huge plus for me. We spent a lovely afternoon at J&J Cellars on a recent trip home from a conference in San Jose. This was our second trip to this relatively undiscovered gem in San Miguel/Paso Robles. The grounds and facilities are beautiful. It would be a lovely spot for a wedding or other special event. It is also great for picnicking, and they even have a bocce ball court! Mandy, the friendly and knowledgeable proprietress of the tasting room, assisted us with many fine selections. We left with several cases of wine, including the 2010 Zinfandel, the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2010 Estate Cuvee, and the Autumn Flight Barbera. Our daughter starts at Cal Poly SLO soon and we look forward to many future visits to J&J! read more
