First off they have a sign which is falling apart and a danger to customers. This sign says shirts cleaned for 99 cents on hangers. Great buy I thought ... but when you go in he takes my name and phone# and I said great price he said " no it's $1.50 I said that's not a good thing to charge more than you sign says. He says he can't afford it. I gave him the name of two local sign companies and they are reasonable. I bring in my second batch of shirts ( 6) and 4 items that would be dry cleaned. I go home and my wife looks at my receipt and it says 4 shirts plus = $38.00 I told my wife I will speak to him when I pick the stuff up. The place is run down and he says he is struggling. I come in to pick up the order and first he tells me the shirts are $2.50 and each dry cleaned item was 5.00 plus. He claimed that a black cloth shirt had to be dry cleaned when I have been washing it for a couple of months and ironed. One of my wife's sweaters he charged us $7.95 ... The long and short of this is he is grossly dishonest. I told him I was really unhappy. He told me go f..k myself and took off $8.00 but charged me a fee for using my credit card. It was a dollar something or 3.25% and I think it was his elderly mother who chimes in ohhh the credit card company makes us do that. I politely told her they do not and now I have 2-3 people screaming at me because 6 shirts at $1.50= 9.00 plus 4 items for dry cleaning charged me $30.00 ... this place should be closed by the department of consumer affairs. Customer for many years. Disappointed with service as it ruined my faux leather trim blazer that tag clearly says dry clean only. I've had the blazer for over one year, owner says that's the reason The faux leather trim pealed off - it's old. He said he followed the direction and that basically was it. He offered to pay for the blazer and said to bring the receipt in, something that was purchased over a year ago, a receipt that I no longer had. I left the blazer, it not useable, it's ruined by "the professional cleaners". I will not use this establishment again and definitely my family and friends won't either. I have been coming here since they opened. Always friendly and great service. My last visit they went above and beyond. I realized I left some cash in the pocket of my pants. When I spoke with the owner he was accommodating and said he would look. I didn't expect to see it again. I received a call minutes later they found it then returned it to me. I have gone here a few times to get clothes tailored. The tailor has always been so nice and accommodating and does a great job with all of my clothes. But, I'm assuming it's the owner, is just extremely rude the way he talks to the customers but especially his staff. I was waiting in line for the tailor when the owner said to me, "we are very short staffed today, can you help me fold these sheets?" I actually thought he was kidding, so I started to laugh. He was very serious so I actually helped him fold because I was in such shock. Safe to say I will be bringing my clothes elsewhere. read more

This place is the worst! I started using them to dry clean my shirts. Needless to say, they couldn't find my shirts the day I went to pick them up. They gave me the runaround telling me another customer must have been given my shirts by accident. The owner told me he spoke with the customer and would have my shirts by a certain day. When that day came, the owner hid in the back and wouldn't give me a status on my shirts. The staff is excellent and tried to reason with me but never received any explanation from the owner. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

I must have been delirious when I wrote my first review. Subsequently every time I've been back there due to either price or convince I've found the service to be fairly rude, barked at for not having cash for the cash only tailors (not mentioned prior to drop off). Cleaning is okay so I can't say too much about that. Not my first choice though. read more

Went there for many years. Spent hundreds of $$ a year with them Never well run, but I always thought it was OK for the price. At the owner's suggestion, I would let them hold the tickets because I would sometimes misplace them. Last time I went to pick up I noticed that the bill seemed very large for the number of items to be picked up - mostly shirts. When I asked the owner what the deal was - he said that "my shirts were very dirty." WTF Putting aside the fact that this is nonsense - I asked him "so your price is dependent on how clean or dirty the shirt is." He just repeated that the shirts were dirty - I gave him a look, and he then said he would take $20 off the bill. He has probably been ripped me off for years. Needless to say, I will never go back. read more

If u value your sanity and hard-earned money, don't go here. I had used them for the lower price on men's shirt laundering even though I knew I was dealing with a very unhappy owner (the son). Now he wants to charge me $1.50 on 90% of the load, citing some ridiculous reason. These same shirts used to be charged $1. I brought my load back. I will just use him as an unsavory character in a story. read more

This place sucks. Admittedly, the prices are cheap. However, as you should suspect, the service is also cheap. Shirts come out wearable, most of the time, but are definitely not crisp, wrinkle-free shirts. I do not bring my "good" shirts, pants or suits to this place cause I don't trust them and cause I want those items to be laundered well. Most of the staff is great. Very nice group of women who clearly work hard. There is an old dude who works the register and disgustingly chomps on a cigar. Dude is slow. And not trying to be mean, but he has no clue whats going on. If more then one customer is trying to pay, he easily gets confused. Making change or swiping credit cards becomes an issue. And if things really get out of hand, he starts fighting with an older lady (his wife?) who frequently sits off to the side by the washing machine. Its a great show if you got time but usually I am just trying to get out of there in under 15 minutes. I used the tailor once and he did an awful job. I had a hole in my shirt and asked if the garment was salvageable. The tailor took it and without any further conversation he used the machine to simply sew the hole closed. Shirt was not wearable. The sew job was clearly visible and it left a fold over the pocket. I complained but I was still charged for shirt that I threw away. Worst of all, there is a crazy eyed tank-top-wearing-back-hair-on-full-display guy who I think is the owner or manager of this place. I think he fancies himself as a wheeler-dealer. Sad. The reality is that he a clown. When I first started going to this place I witnessed him yell at his staff. He is so condescending. I've also seen him yell at customers. This guy loves confrontation. Complain about anything and this dude is going to go nuts. Over the years he seems to calm down a bit but he still loves to mix it up with the customers. He has no customer service skills and as indicated above, his store doesn't exactly provide exceptional dry-cleaning services either. Bottom-line, if you just dont want to wash your shirts, don't want to pay a lot and dont mind horrific customer service this is your place. Otherwise, pay an extra quarter and go to a different cleaners. read more

No stars!! Stay far away!! All the negative reviews are so on point! Same thing happened to me about being bullied by the owner. I've always been nice even when they are so very rude. They are so rude to their workers it's actually so uncomfortable to be there. Today I went in for two shirts that were left there while I was on vacation for 1 week. The owner literally opened a bottle of prescription pills and just downed them straight from the bottle. I waited 20 minutes while they screamed and cursed. I explained nicely that the shirts were brand new The owners mother told me she she didn't give a shit because I pay $1 for each shirt. Made no sense since that's their price!! After I asked her why she was speaking to me like that when she shouldn't speak to any one like that she continued to curse and scream about my shirts they lost. Her son the owner continued to yell. I left and told them my husband would be back for his shirts When I got home ten minutes later I had a nasty message on my machine of how they found my shirts It got even uglier when my husband picked up his shirts and asked the owner why he and his mother spoke to me like that. He threw the shirts at my husband!! I am at a loss for words!! !STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THESE PLACE!! read more

As others have stated stay far away........I am a Math teacher and my appearance is important to me. The owners there are rude and nasty. They publish coupons but find some way to not accept them every time I would go. The quality of cleaning service is nothing to talk about, but the worst thing is the previously mentioned attitude of the owners. One owner with grey hair and usually wearing a cutoff T shirt barks orders to his workers, is rude to customers and walks around with a chip on his shoulder. Skip this place and find somewhere else to take your clothes and spend you hard earned money.......I did and happy ever since...... read more

J&J Cleaners are crooks! We brought a suede vest to be cleaned and they destroyed it, kept the vest and will only pay 1/7 the value of the vest. They lied over 7 months about the condition of the vest and are now impossible to deal with. They admit they destroyed it but won't take responsibility. They destroyed a $900 dress. The dress was worn once and then taken to J&J cleaners. I recently took the dress out of the dry cleaning bag to wear again to a wedding and discovered what look like deodorant marks on the chest area of the dress. It is not deodorant. I took the dress back to Saks where I bought it and the seamstress there said whatever chemicals they used literally ate the color away. My recommendation would be to photograph before pictures of your clothing and then open the bag in the store when you pick up your items or use a different place but still take photographs for important garments. read more

ARMPITS STILL STINK! Picked up my clothes and the armpits absolutely stunk like they never even washed it.

I'm writing this review because I think the other two are unfair representations. I've been going here for about five years, with their 99-cent shirt deal. I've never, ever had a problem here (I've used a lot of places over the years and always found annoying things elsewhere, like broken or lost buttons, clamp marks or stickers all over my shirts, and myriad other problems). I've experienced none of that here. My dry cleaning (suits and jackets and whatnot) have also been treated well above average. My only qualm was that after Hurricane Sandy they were closed for weeks because of no power (they had zero damage to the store). LIPA's fault and not theirs, to be sure. But I had 8 shirts there and I didn't know if they were lost to the floodwaters, looted or what. So for the next apocalyptic storm, please buy a generator so you can open the doors sooner, or at least forward the phone number to your cell so you can explain to customers what's going on. I, for one would appreciate it. By the way, I think it's really nice that they have a bowl of lollipops at the cash register. It actually gives my little one something to look forward to when we're running errands. read more

I've been using this dry cleaner for over a year and have been happy with them until now. After Hurricane Sandy, I picked up my husbands dry cleaning and when I got it home he noticed that there were stains on two of the shirts. The owner(Todd) assured me that there was no water in the store from the hurricane so I was surprised that the shirts had stains. When I brought them back they told me they would re-launder them for free. When I picked them up after they were re-laundered, my husband noticed that one of them looked very beat up (it was a brand new Brooks Bros. shirt-never been worn). He went to put it on and noticed that it didn't even fit. We thought the shirt was a defective product from Brooks Bros so we brought the shirt back to Brooks Bros., only to learn from them that the shirt WAS NOT a Brooks Bros shirt. J&J removed the label from our original shirt that they had ruined, sewed the original label into some other shirt and tried to pass it off as ours. I was shocked to say the least. We went home and checked the rest of the shirts that we had just picked up from J&J and found that they did it on another shirt as well. We brought the shirts back into J&J and presented them to Todd. He seemed very confused and asked us to describe the shirts we originally brought in. We gave him the information and he said he would investigate and get back to us. So far I haven't heard anything but what they did by switching out the shirts and trying to pass them off as our originals is deplorable to say the least. I would not trust them with my clothing again. I hope they "do the right thing" by us and reimburse us for the cost of the shirts. Whether they do or not, they have lost my business and I will tell others about their actions. read more

These guys are the best deal around. They also do first quality work onsite. Under $7 for a men's suit and .99 for a laundered shirt. I noted a negative review from Lynbrook where suits are $14 a pop that the owner is in a cutoff t-shirt and quick... yeah; the guy is running an on-premise cleaner-it's a working shop-not some place that sends it out and charges double. I'd have on a cutoff too if I was running around in a hot cleaners. There are other cleaners who do shirts around this rate in the area but nobody whose dry cleaning is this reasonable. They do as good of a job as you find in midtown east Manhattan where I moved from. All-in-all, and as an Orthodox Jew myself, I would be wary of anyone writing a review in this direction of Lynbrook where there is a 'different' type of customer type who tend to be on the 'difficult' side. We are a bit more relaxed out here. Perhaps people in Lynbrook should stay in the 5-towns if they want 5-towns prices and pretension-why head out this way anyhow? This is a family business and that dude works hard to get his customers a very good price. read more
