My only major complaint is the quality of the tile work which has become a frustrating nightmare. To their credit they made several attempts to fix the tiles as they kept coming up; ~3-4 times. It's been a few months since they last came to regrout some loose tiles, but I have given up having them come and regrout as basically every tile is loose. I know they ended up replacing some of the subfloor that was damaged during the demo, so my only guess at this point is the subfloor repair/patch was uneven/unlevel ... idk what else would explain the tiles coming loose so easily and often. I really liked them and was excited to find a trustworthy contractor as I wanted to update my bathrooms next, but I would not recommend for tile work, which is disappointing.

In May '21, we were quoted a little over $11K to replace our door, and paid a 50% deposit. 3+ months later we received drawings and approved them. Several more months go by; no update, despite reaching out several times. When we did get through, an impolite administrator shouted at my wife over the phone that we weren't the only customers that were experiencing delays. He then apologized and said he yelled because he was Dominican (!?). In January, we're given our first real update: an email with a few pictures of our door in a workshop. Fast forward 4 months. After reaching out for more updates, we finally get through to their manager who says, "I'm in Argentina now, organizing the custom orders for the shipment load. We have everything ready waiting for the shipment company to give us the date... before [the] pandemic there was 4 shipment[s] by month, now [there] is only one and when the shipping company want... so we are waiting." July '22, we get an email telling us the door is in NJ and someone will now "take measurements and do the 'pre-installation' before the finish." They come to our house to take measurements on two different occasions. We select and pay for hardware (not included) and reach out for an update, to which they say: "Below I have attached your INVOICE, reflecting a PAID balance (keep this for your records.) The next steps in your project are: 1. I need your availability for this week and next week. I have to send staff members to the project location to fit the door and see what adjustments have to be made. 2. Once we have completed this step, we will proceed to confirm a delivery date. Once I receive your availability, we will be able to move forward." The invoice says we have a balance of over $12K...but we've already paid $5500, so this new invoice suggests that the cost is $17K+. Upon comparison of the two invoices and reaching out to understand the discrepancy, we're told that it reflects: 1. installation (which was not in our quote as it is 'available upon request', yet without our approval is supposedly underway since the tech came by to do a 'pre-installation') 2. marked up prices for things that were on the original invoice paid back in May '21, because of "2022 prices" - which given it was committed to and built in '21, we find suspect. In their fine print it says installation is upon request, which we understand. However, 'pre-installation' was presented as a necessary step, and no price was mentioned. When we learned the install would be $4K+, we said we would pick up the door and have it installed by someone else (for a small fraction of the price). They said they would still charge us $2K for "pre-installation" which we were never told about or given the chance to approve. After a LOT of back and forth, they finally agreed that they did not explain the 'pre-installation' fee. They offered a discounted price to complete the install, which we agreed to because they said our warranty would be voided if we used another provider. Upon install in December, the door had chipped paint which they said they would come back and fix. The next day, it rained. Water that would normally slide right off a door without a trace left strange white splotches all over the door and could not easily come off. It looked like the door was not properly sealed. When we reached out, their response was to say to clean the door with Pledge (an indoor dusting product). We were very confused by this, and replied to ask if they could fix how the door was sealed, as we can't imagine cleaning our custom door with Pledge every time it rains. Moral of the story: Avoid Amighini at all costs! We are incredibly disappointed with our door, the customer experience overall, and with the 1.5 year process we have had to endure.

Emile is a great salesman. Unfortunately, the actual execution of the promised product leaves much to be desired. Emile said our project was to extend no more than 4-5 weeks. It took 8+. Beginning in early April 2019, there were periods where some times his team would not show up--especially later in April. Following inquiries as to why Emile informed us that his team is comprised of mainly Eastern Orthodox Christians so that Easter became over a weeklong hiatus of our project. We wouldn't have been so annoyed about it if Emile had informed us about this from the get-go. But given that this is an annual calendar holiday, it would have been nice to be informed of such known delays before picking Emile and his team. And if this were the only problem of communication, I wouldn't raise it here. But there were also many days where expected team members wouldn't show, and my fiancée and I were living in construction. We had nowhere else to go. Speaking of, my fiancée is (obviously) female and has a more flexible schedule than I do. I would leave her to communicate things in-person to Emile since he would occasionally pop by when concerns were raised. But he would not take her seriously and try to gaslight her about construction issues. Whether he is a misogynist or not is not my judgment to make. I say this for other partners who intend to leave their female significant other at home to monitor and guide some of the construction processes. One gaslighting example is when Emile's team lead, Sam, accidentally installed our $10k cabinets at the incorrect height. Emile said that they had started to install the cabinets from the opposite side. Screw holes in the drywall told a different story. Speaking of, my $10k cabinets (just wanted to emphasize that) are littered with screw holes which Emile admitted in a text message was a poorly done job. Sloppy tilework was also an issue. And while some furniture items were being moved for painting, our beautiful hardwoods were scuffed and scratched. So much so that Emile agreed to take some money off the final price. Speaking of, despite his images across his site and social media, Emile must not be used to working with individuals of means. When we gave him our second check (after paying our down payment for the project with no issue), he rudely asked if it was going to bounce. This was "because he recently had a check bounce for another project." Emile was here late last month to fix some issues that had arisen since the project "ended." I waited to post this review because I knew that would be the case. My fiancée was home to let him in to fix some of the tile issues that had appeared. During his work, Emile admitted that he had received a lot of complaints during our job with his other jobs because of his poorly qualified team. I've attached pictures of what they did to my expensive cabinets. There are much better options than Emile Sdrak and his Emilco Construction, LLC. I leave 3 stars because I believe Emile could potentially do better. UPDATE 12/17/19: 1 star. Faulty problems with installations. Dishwasher not secure and started falling out of place 3 months after install. Emile acknowledges the problem and said he would be here at noon. At 12:30 I texted him and asked him his location and he said it couldn't be here for another two hours. Unprofessional and poor quality. Take your contractor business elsewhere.
